I got the Enhanced Edition, and I'm still playing BG 1. But the second one is more fleshed out. As a kid, I found Spellhold scenes frightening. And Irenicus is probably the most original evil villain.
Bioshock Infinite is my favorite game of all-time. It honestly is my biggest creative inspiration as a writer. It seems weird to people who don't realize how far (some) video games have come in telling powerful narratives. Its use of foreshadowing is the best that I have ever seen in any form, and it causes underlying tension to carry strongly throughout. Because they built up the tension and because of their character development, that ending works so damn well.
I played one of the Bioshock games, can't remember which. The setting was an underwater city/facility. It was extremely boring. You just run around flipping switches, killing lunatics and some girl's robot guardian. Then someone talks from who knows where, talking about nothing in particular, and you continue roaming the halls, flipping switches and killing. I noticed no plot.
That was the first Bioshock, not Infinite. Personally, I enjoyed the first one a lot. As far as the gameplay complaints, that's just kind of how shooters are. The plot didn't feel very personal...it felt like a "video game" plot...but I thought it was original and well executed considering that. I'm not sure how to do spoilers, so you've been warned: You're helping Atlas kill the founder of the underwater "utopia," Andrew Ryan. Along the way, you find out Ryan built the city as an ideal of Randian philosophy. Eventually, Ryan faced competition from Frank Fontaine who spearheaded a lucrative market of genetic modifications. Ryan started killing off his competition and a civil war started. Once you as a player reaches Ryan, you find out that you were scientifically altered to respond to a verbal cue and have been doing Atlas' bidding the whole time from his use of the verbal cue. You kill Ryan and find out Atlas is actually Fontaine, who is not dead. Fontaine tries to kill you, but kill him instead. I liked the philosophical speeches by Ryan throughout the game; they really develop him well as a character. If you skipped the numerous recordings you can find throughout the game, though, I can understand missing some of the plot.
Yep, that's the reason why I like Bioshock 1 and Infinite (haven't played 2...). It's not just a story, it's also a critique of society (usually American, especially in Infinite). Both, Ryan and Comstock had an idea of creating a paradise, utopia as @Ben414 said, and they both fail at the end.
Payday 2 anyone? There's an event going on until October 18 - if a goal is met, on the final day the first game of the series will be free to download and keep forever.
Anyone interested in Firewatch? I've seen the debut trailer and it was strangely...creepy? I mean, I really like the gameplay idea, the graphics and the basic concept of an average guy volunteering as a fire watch in the wilderness. Generally speaking it seems quite interesting for and indie game but...the voice over gave me the shivers. That last line? "Henry, there are some things you can’t prevent. So just stay in your tower, okay? Stay IN there. And WATCH"
I watched a trailer now, after you mentioned it. It looks cool, different. When I started watching trailer I thought "this could be a damn fine novel, if written good"
I now have seven level 90 toons, a level 83, and three low level toons on WoW. I hope to have one of each class at level 90 before Warlords of Draenor comes out in November.
Tossing up between getting Hyrule Warriors and Super Smash Bros. for my birthday. Never really been any good at Smash Bros, as I have never owned it, so I'm not convinced I'll enjoy it more.
I figured I'd recommend this to anyone who's interested: Space Funeral. It's a free indie game and quite a treat. I haven't finished it yet, but I'd definitely suggest it. Do a search for it, and you ought be able to download it for free.
Legend of Grimlock 2 The best when it comes to old fashion dungeon crawling and puzzle solving square by square :3
League of Legends (LoL) gamer here. I'm saving for another laptop so I can have one gaming laptop and one work laptop. (Been called best support in NA twice now and im not even level 30 yet. Was trained from the beginning by some friends who were level thirty, learned advanced tricks and got to just totally goof off and have fun learning while a fed and thrice penta-killed Irelia protected me. The fun part? My brother's setting up a league, as well as my friends, and all of them hate being support. I get my fav role every time.) Overall, it's a great team game if you find the right people (there are notorious toxic players not gonna lie) and in the end it all comes down to which team can destroy the enemy nexus first (or, as i like to say, which team simply communicates better). It can be great fun for both teams if you've got a positive outlook. Used to play Kitsu Saga among many other online games such as Runescape, Perfect World, and a few others I dabbled with. Hate that they got rid of Kitsu Saga...as for others they either changed too much or I simply lost interest in less than five minutes. I am notoriously picky with games.
@Keitsumah Yeah, I can't get into DotA or LoL if I'm not playing with some friends I know I can trust not to be toxic, infighting, raging, or just playing beyond bad...
Yup. I have a thick enough skin that I can stand most of it. And one game the team totally argued on what role went where, then our Jungle went afk the whole game. (read on, it's good) We had an Ezreal, a Corki (two adc's when there should only be one), I was soraka (support), and we also had a Yasuo (a mid/top laner). Our jungle was udyr. When he went afk the team freaked. I just started belting out orders cuz apparently, despite our level our Ez had no clue he could mid. Our Yasuo wanted mid, but oh so good at manners that I am, I said please go top Yas and he complied. (thank god...) so I was with corki bot, yas was top, ez mid and we had to deal with no jungle, while their team had theirs and we had to deal with the threat of them gaining an early lead, getting fed and otherwise totally destroying us. 4 v5 usually ends baddly... or does it? I went full Tank/AP build for my team instead of regular support. When our corki fed their adc I mopped the floor with their jungle the one time he ganked us, and so scared him off good, then I swapped with ez to keep the enemy team on their toes so he could counter their adc. Yasuo got fed luckilly at top the whole time despite being camped by their jg, and we carried the game. And this was before the update to soraka's gameplay, so her heals were sloooooooooooow! Udyr came back just thirty seconds before we smashed their nexus to bits. Tank soraka ftw, and her old passive buffed Ez's ap mid build for each starfall I cast. Needless to say I am still smug about that one.
For those interested in Dragon Age:Inquisition The Keep is open to everyone (I think) or on the 29th, I forget. It'll let you sync your DA:O and DA2 to DA:I or make a new set of choices. I am loving it. Beats replaying both games just to have choices that may or may not import.
I've been playing WoW since vanilla, and I had one level 90 up until the Hallow's End event started. easy daily quest xp and lots of rested bonus helped me get two more to 90, and another one to 86. I preordered WoD, so I have the "level to 90 instantly" thing, but I haven't used it; using it on a character that's 85 seems like a waste, and I'm not really interested enough in most of my other alts to use it on them. I made a tauren shaman and troll rogue last night, and I suspect I'll end up using the instant 90 on the rogue, because it's hard to beat sneakin' and stabbin' for funtimes. my 90s are a tauren hunter, tauren druid, and worgen druid, both druids specced feral, because again with the sneakin' and stabbin' (although in their case it's more clawin' and bitin'). I've tried doing support, healing and tanking, but enh--I prefer DPS. other than that... I play Flight Rising and Spider Solitaire.
For someone who's both a writer and a gamer I highly suggest checking out "The vanishing of Ethan Carter." It's like an interactive mystery novel with fantasy/sci-fi elements.
does anybody have destiny? i want to get it but i want to hear an unbiased review. also whats the lowest pc that could play fallout 3 comfortably?
