    If anyone is interested in joining any new RP's

    Me and lixAxil are considering hosting a Holy Grail War RPG. If any of you don't know what that is I can explain in detail but for now just throwing it out there. The short version is its a tournament between seven masters/mages and their servants (who are figures from history, myth, legend, fairy tales and folklore)

    In an attempt to win the Holy Grail and be granted a wish

    You'd play as a master and servant or just play as a master and someone else as a servant.

    It is not a normal tournament as in it is all about fighting and there is no set location. The game would start with masters summoning their servants and it would go from there.The location will be in a city (we haven't decided yet but likely an American city) and the game will have room for side stories, character development, character interaction etc

    If anyone is interested or this has caught their eye in anyway.

    We actually pretty much have the game completed, so if you want a more detailed version explaining everything we can post that as well.

    Game

    The Holy Grail. It is an object desired since ancient times. Men have fought and died for it. Because of its legendary existence, many tales and myths have followed the Holy Grail, telling tales of great warriors and kings who have fought to claim this holy relic.

    A thousand years ago, the Einzbern, a family of magi, began their plans on reclaiming a great lost power then once had. Their plan resulted in failure, which forced them to do something never done before 800 years later. They enlisted the aid of outside help to obtain their powers. The help consisted of two other magi families, The Tohsaka and the Makiri. In order to mask their true intentions, the Einzbern created the lie that their work was to find a method to a way to reach a source of ultimate power.

    Eventually, the three families worked out a solution: The Holy Grail. The Einzbern provided the vessels required to hold the grail. The Tohsaka provided mana rich land to create the Grail on, and the Makiri designed the command seals that would be vital later on. But like all great plans, there was always a flaw. the flaw in this plan was greed. Each family wanted the grail for themselves. Before they started a war with each other, they managed to come up with a solution. They would create a great lie to determine the owner of the Holy Grail. Seven magi, called Masters, would be picked out to fight for the Holy Grail. They were told that the Holy Grail would grant them any wish they desire. Each magus was given a servant, a heroic spirit of the past. these masters and servants would fight until only one pair remained. The defeated servants' energy would fill the holy Grail, giving it power to work with. These families would then go to war every 60 years in an attempt to obtain the Holy Grail.

    The Masters, while powerful magi each, were not the ones that do the fighting. The ones that fought were the Servants. Each servant is a Heroic Spirit, a great warrior from the past (history, myth, legends, fairy tales, folklore etc) summoned by the Holy Grail to battle. They were also promised one wish should they win. Each servant was assigned a class.

    Archer
    Assassin
    Berserker
    Caster
    Lancer
    Rider
    Saber

    A servant is randomly assigned a class that fits them.


    Now, the Fifth Holy Grail War has started, and by a twist of fate, time has diverged from its original course and new Masters and Servants have been chosen to fight for the Holy Grail.

    Now that the introduction is out of the way, the more important stuff can be explained. You'll play as master and servant. If you do not get the master and servant slots. You can be an ally to one of the Masters or just an unlucky person caught in the war. But PM the idea first if you wanna do something like that

    Keep in mind that Servant are the real warriors in this RP. While masters are strong, the best they can do to a servant is annoy it. Heroic Spirit are very very strong, so strong in fact that no modern weaponry can hope to even hurt them. Only powerful magic and other servants can harm another servant.

    Servants are cable of running and fighting high speeds, extreme agile, super strong etc and of course this varies with each class

    Masters are of course original characters.

    With the servants they must be as stated above something from history whether it be normal history or myths and things like that.

    A master is given 3 command seals. These command seals are used in case the servant is being disobedient. The command seals can force an absolute order onto a servant, one that cannot be disobeyed. they can also be used offensively too. For example, you can tell a servant to "attack with all your power" to make the servant's next attack do much more damage.

    Servants need a master in order to stay in this world, as a Master constantly keeps a flow of magic to the servant. Without mana, a servant will disappear. Therefore, it is often easier to kill a master and have the servant lose its source of mana than to kill the servant.

    However, simply killing a master or a servant does not leave the other out of the fight. A masterless servant can make a contract with a master and vice versa to reenter the war.

    Masters can detect the general area another master is in through their command seals.

    Noble Phantasm

    A Noble Phantasm is a weapon or an ability owned by a heroic spirit. In the legend of a hero, there is not only the man that the hero was, but the anecdotes about him, his arms and weapons; all of this symbolizes his existence. These symbols are the ultimate mysteries that the Servant, the embodiment of the heroic spirit, carries as a trump card. Such is the deadly weapon called "Noble Phantasms". Noble Phantasms are the crystallization of the historical facts and anecdotes that made the heroic spirit famous, but that does not necessarily have to be an offensive weapon; it can be a shield, a ring, a crown, but also a specific ability or a unique method of combat.

    It is a servant's last resort in a battle. By announcing the noble Phantasm's true name, a Servant can strike out with an attack that can fell even another servant in a single strike. However, there are drawbacks. The attack will usually leave a servant drained and sometimes defenseless. It also reveals the Noble Phantasm's name, which can lead to the Servant's identity being revealed. A servant usually only has one Noble Phantasm, thought there have been exceptions.


    You can make up whatever effects you want for Noble Phantasms. Let you imagination run wild.

    Noble Phantasm-Range

    For NP. These are. Anti-Unit (can be self). Anti-Army. Anti-Fortress. Anti-Country. Anti-World (extremely broken). However this doesn't define the strenght of the NP.

    Reality Marble

    An special kind of move that can be used as a Noble Phantasm. (Yet even some very skilled master can use it). This is a very rare case. The servant is able to project their inner world into reality, violating it, and creating a temporal different reality, with different laws that are imposed. The user decides who'll carry to the RM. While for the others it's seen as if they went to another dimension. Laws of the RM are absolutely and those tend to be different than from reality.
    RM's are extremely broken in terms of power, but very expensive, thus they can be maintained only for a few minutes

    Ranks

    Those define the strength of a skill or NP. The ranks are. E, D, C, B, B+, A,A+,A++,A+++, EX. Being E the weakest, while A+++ the strongest. EX tend to surpass A+++ but is limited for those whose NP is so strong that can't be defined by solely strength. If a skill is rank B it can deny other's moves from rank E to B. However ranks B+ to EX would bypass them.
    Noble Phantasm then to greatly surpass the rank of skills, despite their level. However EX is definitive.



    Servant Parameters:

    Mana:
    Luck:
    Endurance:

    try to keep them reasonable. For example, an Assassin wouldn't have an A in strength and a Berserker wouldn't have much mana.
    The RP will start 1 day before each Master summons their servant for the war. Masters do not know who each other are, so no attacking another master right away. The RP will take place in Fuyuki city, the same place as the visual novel. However, you are not restricted to only that city. You can travel to other places.

    The supervisor does not actually fight in the war. He offers information and gives shelter to Masters that have dropped out of the war.

    Remember it's first come first serve, so those who sign up earlier get to choose what they want.

    you can form alliances and team up against another person. Just keep in mind only 1 pair will win.


    Skills

    Those are passive properties that servants have, also classes have skills unique to them. For example, the skill Magic Resistance, is a saber class skill (yet not exclusive if other hero can have it due to its legend), it grant magic resistance. For example if it's Rank B. Then spells below Rank B, won't harm the warrior. The skills are very versatile, they can be almost anything. Like Charisma that causes lower beings to bow before the servant.
    Mad Enhancement is a Berserker class skill, that defines them as mad warrior. The higher the rank, the strongest they are, but with less sanity. At rank E (the lowest) the boost is minimal, yet the servant can still speak for example, however it's personality may be distorted.

    Archer: Servants placed within this class are usually proficient with projectiles and could survive longer without a Master nearby, thanks to their special ability Independent Action. They also tend to have many more Noble Phantasms at their disposal than other classes. It is one of the three Knight classes, together with Lancer and Saber.

    Class skills:
    Magic Resistance D Cancel Single-Action spells. Magic Resistance of the same degree of an amulet that rejects magical energy.
    Independent Action B Capable of remaining in this world for two days without a established contract. Also capable to live on for a short period of time after suffering extensive damage on his spiritual core.

    Assassin: Servants placed within this class are always, as a rule, one of the 19 Hassan i Sabbah, the leaders of the clan of the Hashshashins who passed the name down. This rule comes from how the word "assassin" itself finds its etymological roots in that clan. But in this case that rule does not stand.

    The original Grail system didn't allow the summoning of evil Heroic Spirits (this rule was jeopardized when the Grail became corrupted), and a real, perfect assassin should normally be one nobody knows (thus one who cannot be a Heroic Spirit). For those reasons, the only Heroic Spirits normally allowed in that class are those leaders.The Assassins' special ability is Presence Concealment, which allows them to remain undetected. This, and their weak fighting skills, makes the Assassin class rely heavily on stealth and usually go after human Masters rather their Servants.

    Class skills:
    Presence Concealment A+ It is possible to disappear completely and become almost impossible to be detected. However, efficacy will decrease once preparations to attack are taken.

    Berserker: Servants placed within this class are always incarnations of heroes who have gone berserk on their lifetime. This trait allows them to use the special ability Mad Enhancement, which trades their consciousness (i.e. sanity) for a large power boost. Because of the loss of sanity, the Berserker class is the hardest to control.

    Class skills:
    Mad Enhancement B Boost up all parameters, but takes away most of sanity.

    Caster: Servants placed within this class are adept in magecraft and have a special ability akin to Reality Marble, called Territory Creation, which alters or creates space around them to enhance their sorcery.

    Class skills:
    Territory Creation A Creation of a "Temple", which is superior to a "Workshop", becomes possible. Basically allows Caster to control a selected area.
    Item Construction A Capable of making healing potions that grant limited immortality.

    Lancer: Servants placed within this class are very agile and skilled with long-range melee weapons, such as spears, lances, etc. It is one of the three Knight classes, together with Archer and Saber.

    Class skills:
    Magic Resistance B Cancel spells with a chant below three verses. Even if targeted by High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals, it is difficult for him to be affected.
    Battle Continuation A Will remain alive as long as does not receive a fatal injury. Lancer's are also quite fast but tend to have low luck.

    Rider: Servants placed within this class place emphasis upon speed and powerful Noble Phantasms and their special skill is Riding, which allows them to fully utilize abilities of their mounts (ranging from simple horses, through motorcycles, to divine creatures).

    Class skills:
    Magic Resistance B Cancel spells with a chant below three verses. Even if targeted by High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals, it is difficult for him to be affected.
    Riding A+ Creatures on the level of Phantasmal Beast and Divine Beast can be used as mounts. However, that does not apply to members of the Dragon Kind.

    Saber: Servants placed within this class are agile and powerful melee warriors and it is commonly assumed to be the best class overall, with high ratings in all categories. It is one of the three Knight classes, together with Lancer and Archer, and also possesses the Riding skill like the Rider class.

    Class skills:
    Magic Resistance A Cancel spells of A-Rank or below. In practice, the Servant is untouchable to modern magi.
    Riding B Most creatures can be rode with above average skill. However, cannot ride those of Demoniac Beast and Holy Beast-rank.

    Hello everyone, I'm back after having disappeared for... wow it has been a while.
    Anyway, I'm looking to start a roleplay, and I have the concept and a few ideas, but I want to see if there are people interested. I also have a backup roleplay, in case people aren't interested in the first. It was one I ran before, but let's see how many people like which one.

    #1- In the modern world, there are people known as Wilders, who have the ability to link with animals in different ways. Some can use their senses, others can speak to them as though they are speaking the same language. Even more abilities are spread throughout the world. Because these people are not very common (1 out of 1,000,000 people), they tend to be part of organizations made by the governments of the world. One such organization is the ACU, the Animal Crime Unit. This organization focuses on fighting difficult criminals that the police, SWAT, and FBI cannot handle on their own. The unit in Miami Beach is still developing, and has just been assigned a new leader.


    #2- An exploring ship from Earth arrived at a distant planet, and found robots wandering the earth. Most could be piloted, though some were smaller in size. These explorers expanded the variety as well, but a war erupted, and now two countries hold power, while a third waits, hoping to stay away from the fighting.

    Let me know which you're interested in, if any.

    Hi all! I'm new here and not as old as I look(!)

    I would like to propose a Cold War spy thriller set in 1979 in whatever part of the world you want involving whatever faction you choose (but going for the two main ones will make it more relatable).

    The first one to apply as RP will be the lead and you needn't be too generic to be approved for the lead.

    The next three RP's will have very major roles, The Betrayer, The Friend 'til The End, The Web's Spider.

    I only need 4 players but will let others into the writing obviously (hardly a web of deceit with just four actors, is it?). Here is your Dossier: (Those things in bold are the things the reader will know about you, the stuff in italics comes to light later on or maybe never; those writing as their Alias will write to me and I will copy & paste their post to protect their true identity). You don't all need to be agents.

    Name: Simon Weston
    Alias: Chuck Finlay
    Contact Occupations/Covers: Ex Navy SEAL(always an agent of some sort)/Civic Engineer(their life most days)
    Skill1: Combat
    Skill2: Physical Strength
    Skill3: amateur sleight of hand magician

    Curveball (use once): a war wound left Simon with a metal plate in the front of his skull
    Impressions: Upstanding, controlled, not a salesman at all.

    The rules:

    WORDS: Posts do not exceed 500 words. That's right, you will have to be concise and direct and cannot dominate the narrative. If a character issues a Conversational Challenge by reducing their words to less than a 100 in a post then the other is obliged to stick to that limit until the originator of the Challenge exceeds that limit.

    CONTROL OF OTHERS: One agent might say that they "thought Simon started to sweat at the ideas prompted by the question" or even that "they were certain that they'd seen Simon leaving that same car that night" but whether they did see him is up for dispute by the other RP. This follows basic control principles (also death is decided by the GM).

    FIDELITY: Don't poke holes in other peoples' knowledge of history. This is not an exercise in research; it is a game. So don't include the internet too heavily, sure. But ricin umbrellas and James Bond gadgets are allowed (be warned though, a Deus Ex Machina super-stop-the-bullet-gadget will said to have failed).

    The Idea: The idea is to think creatively and write stirring work or maybe write your opposition into a corner or a trap; you don't win by completing your sworn mission but by finding your character's destiny. If they are better remembered, better loved by the reader, for dying a hero/heroine's death halfway through, then they may just have won.

    TIME: The game has a time limit too. Oh didn't I say? That Doomsday Clock is ticking and after 500 posts, it's all over. The Cold War is lost in the only way it can be; by heating up. Good luck agent; the next time we meet we will be strangers.

    I'm certainly interested @Jonathan Poupart but things have been a bit quiet around here at the moment so I'll see what the general interest in this is before I make any commitments.

    Great idea though, by the way, it certainly sounds like a story that would be very enjoyable and entertaining to be a part of, we just need the support of some other people now :)

    Welcome to Athena Academy, School for the Gifted. You've obviously been brought here for your mental acumen or talents... or because your parents were rich enough to buy your way inside. Definitely for no other reason. You'll be split into two separate groups based on individual talents. You may of course converse between groups, but you must never enter the others part of the academy, it will disturb teachers and students.

    ...Now that the mortals are gone, welcome! You've discovered the gift of magic or are of a different species altogether, for those of you didn't know about any of this, surprise! You'll be learning how to master your gifts. Learning powerful spells and other magical talents which will aid you in life and be able to defend yourself from those that would wish harm upon you.

    Now there is all sorts of other things that you'll need to know about, horrible things, things that will keep you up at night as the fear and tension create unbreakable knots in your stomach... but for now, just enjoy yourselves and just follow these basic rules! Don't use magic in front of mortals, don't harm mortals that pose no threat to you, don't mess around with your magic, otherwise horrible things can and will happen, don't stray into restricted areas of the school, it's for your own safety. So, welcome and have fun!

    Story:

    You've been accepted into Athena Academy in Vancouver, Canada. Some may have an excuse as to how they've gotten in, grades, wealth, talents, etc. However even the biggest low-life and flaky student can still get in for one reason alone. They have the potential to use magic. Everyone will go through special testing their first day, if they succeed and use magic then they'll stay and go to the special group of students, if they fail then they'll remain with the normal students until they either graduate, move away, or fail.

    However as a new student, studies will not be your only priority. Students will be grouped up and sent out on missions to determine whether or not a situation is supernatural, if it is then they must figure out how to stop it before the secret of the supernatural world is revealed to the world.

    Though, that isn't the only thing that they'll have to deal with. There are a group of mages led by a dangerous and powerful sorcerer by the name of Damien Syth. They're teaming up with all sorts of supernatural creatures who desire one thing. Control. They believe that mortals should be ground under their heel. They'll do anything to attain their goals. Assassinations of important figures, taking control of certain companies and businesses, and even playing politics.

    They actually have a strong foothold in politics. Managing to get into major government positions all around the world. Trying to cause as much trouble as they can in order to undermine the infrastructure of each country in order to weaken it, so when they finally decide to attack nations won't be able to organize a competent army that will be able to defend themselves.

    They're bolstering their numbers as best as they can, recruiting any that they find, willingly or otherwise. Blackmailing mages by holding loved ones captive, using magic and potions to manipulate and control their minds, or merely getting them when they're young and have them grow up with their principles.

    Though the group that you're in is led by Rhys Belmont he has been leading the assault against Syth and his people. Trying to gather as many mages as they've been able and trying to keep them away from dark magic and instill morals into them, or at the very least the idea that all of this is horribly wrong.

    They also have a strong foothold in politics, doing their best to have nations thrive, cooperate and fight against Syth's policies, trying to make sure that when Syth finally decides to strike that they'll be prepared to defend themselves or at least be able to limit causalities.

    But they aren't the only threat, there are a group of hunters out there called The Order, people with high tech equipment that can take down a mage or any other magical creature out there. Unfortunately even Syth's people have been able to infiltrate The Order and have been able to launch raids against Belmont's people.

    There are mages and creatures who are neutral, not wanting to get themselves or their families and friends involved in the conflict. Going into hiding, limiting their magic usage, even going as far as to hide the truth to their children and try to suppress their children's magical presence or go deep into the wilderness where they wouldn't be bothered by anyone else.

    Skills-

    You all start out with ten points for each category, however if you're a different species than human, I will determine whether or not you will get 5 or 10 magic points, it's merely to even everything out due to different race's natural abilities (Flight, super strength, etc.) When you choose each skill have a brief description of what each one is. (Just to know your understanding of the subject and just so then I know what it is in the event that it is something that I don't know or if it's far too broad, it doesn't have to be anything too complex, it can even be one sentence, for example Lock picking: 10 (The ability to pick the lock on locked doors and unlock them.))

    There is a cap for the skills, it's 35, it'll go up as time goes on, but for now that's the cap, as you level up your skills higher the better your actions are and how successful they'll be. Say for instance, picking the lock on a door, if it's a simple lock and your level is 35, then you'll pick the lock in ten seconds flat, if your lock picking skill is 1 and it's a complex lock, then it'll take a lot longer or probably just fail.


    Magic-

    Magical Skills- Skills that anyone can learn with time and effort, yet are not the skills of everyday life, alchemy, potion making, etc.

    Combat- Everyday fighting techniques, weapons, hand to hand, etc.

    Skills- Everyday skills that anyone can learn with some time and effort.

    Supernatural Abilities- This is for races with special abilities, the five points you lose from magic go here, the abilities must make sense for what you are playing.

    Soul Magic: Magic that is unique to one's character, this magic is optional, if you do have this magic you must explain it to me in its entirety, this magic can basically be anything that's related to your character in some way, but if it's overpowered then I will deny it.

    Rules:
    1. Submit your CS's to me via PM for acceptance.
    2. I'm GM, my word is the absolute truth.
    3. No godmodding.
    4. No character controlling.
    5. No time skips unless it is describing an event that happened prior to when the RP has moved and you're merely catching up to the present.
    6. No arguments within the game unless it is in character and strictly against another character, if there is an argument either take it to the discussion or the PMs, but if it is taken to the discussions it must be about the RP and nothing else.
    7. No killing characters without the player's permission. You may kill certain NPCs without permission. (Ones that you yourself bring into the game, if it is an important NPC or one that is brought into the story by another, you may not kill them without that person's permission.)
    8. Keep things PG-13 when it comes to romance, if it goes any further than that then skip over it.
    9. Most adult themes are fine, (Gore, swearing, etc.) just don't overdo them to the point where the post is basically drugs, half naked women, and swearing like a sailor for no good reason and mainly just detracts from the story altogether.
    10. If you break these rules you will edit your post upon my request. Repeated and malicious breaking of the rules will result in banning, no way to come back into the story, your character(s) used for their intended purpose and then killed or sent off to never be heard of again, no more characters can or will be made by someone who has been banned. If one has been banned from the RP and continues to harass it in the discussion or in the actual story then I will report them to the admin or moderators without hesitation.
    11. If you are going to leave the RP please tell me in advance so then I can plan in case your character is doing something important and not halt the RP, and be able to find a good place to be able to bring you back in the event that it isn't a permanent leave.
    12. The Apprentice is my co-GM, his word is law as well. (Unless I disagree with his decisions.)

    @Master Attano Thanks. :) I've noticed that things around here have been really slow, I hope that changes soon.

    @Dagolas Nah, nothing like that. There'll be some school elements in it, classes, homework, stuff like that, but I'm hoping to move away from the school sooner or later, it'll mainly just be a base of operations after a little while, as I said there'll be missions that students will be sent out on. With that I'm hoping to make the RP multi-genre, it could be as simple as going and defeating an evil mage to being sent into a nightmarish dimension to defeat an evil spirit before it wreaks anymore havoc in the mortal plane.

    Hey, don't give me that angry face, I made a post in there! XD

    Also, this little detail completely slipped my mind, do forgive me, but there is a cap to the skills, it's 35, it'll go up as time goes on, but for now that's the cap, as you level up your skills higher the better your actions are and how successful they'll be. Say for instance, picking the lock on a door, if it's a simple lock and your level is 35, then you'll pick the lock in ten seconds flat, if your lock picking skill is 1 and it's a complex lock, then it'll take a lot longer or probably just fail.
