I have to be doing something creative.

    I like the written word.

    I like to be scared.

    When I started doing it.

    Horror.

No just a planning, short-length writing clone.

    What compells you to write?
The books/movies/series I read/watch always ends up unfulfilling in some way. I always feel like, why didn't they do this or that, or go about it this or that way.

    Why do you write?
I want to write stories that fulfill those unfulfilling parts I described above. But also because I already know the basics of writing, that is, how to spell, some grammar, etc, and I'm curious if I can actually turn this into a skill that can be used to tell stories. However, I am doubtful. I feel like an aware tone-deaf person who wishes he could sing. Yes, I can't sing either, and I'm very aware of it :p But I also suck at drawing, and don't have the patience to learn it. So I guess, I mainly write because I'm a lazy person who thinks learning to write is easier than to paint or sing. But, so far... that has been proven somewhat wrong... heh... but I'm not ready to give it up yet, because I have to express myself somehow, and writing is my last hope! :p

What makes you write what you write?
I'm not sure what you're asking here, but I guess it's part of what I explained in the answers above.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
I'm not sure I actually like writing. Most of the time I find it frustrating, and too slow of a method to get my thoughts out of my head. I'm not dissliking it too much though.

    What Do You Write?
So far only short stories. I like to write stories with at least some fantasy- or magic elements to them.

    I have an answer:

I just find writing as a way of releasing the tension of most days, and a excellent coping mechanism. Regardless whether it is deemed good or not. I became interested in writing at a early age, mainly due to a book called Tunnel Vision by Malcolm Rose. It interested me that much that I found myself wanting to write, using my imagination as much as I could. That was when I was about 9, and my love of reading has just bolstered that want of writing since then.

I enjoy the satisfaction of seeing your own work before you, a sense of accomplishment. Also, the hope of one day having your own book our there at a book store for other people to read and enjoy your stories.

I write because it is the easiest way for me to let other people in to who I really am.

    1. Because I realized if I never put my thoughts down then there is no real point in having them.
    2. This is a bit emotional for me. I never had much when I was young. TV was basically my only blessing, sometimes even food was optional. Unfortunately my family was not a blessing. Stories told on tv were my escape, my life and my love. I write because I one day want to reach another had help another by providing a simiar portal to another world that someone provided me.
    3. I have no idea.
    4. My number 2 goal is really why I proceed to try and become a better writer but that moment when I can look at my new work and realize how much I have grown, it is a part of it.
    5. I mainly write non fiction adventure stories. I have been told that my style is simplistic.

I honestly have no idea. There are times where I wish I didn't have to, but I just can't not write.

    What compels you to write?
    - Self-discipline and/or deadlines

    Why do you write?
    - Honestly, mostly money. If I wasn't making money from it... I'd probably write less, at least. And probably write different stuff. Might quit altogether... writing is hard work!

What makes you write what you write?
    - The market. I write what I think I can sell, or what I've already sold and now have to deliver

What Made you decide you liked to write?
    - I don't really know... I started writing fanfic, and I guess I liked being part of a community, and sharing this joint creative effort? But once I started writing original fiction, I think I decided based on the royalty cheques

    What Do You Write?
    - mostly romance, some YA and NA, and I've got a sort of hobby-story that I'm not sure will ever sell - it's contemporary fantasy, I'd say

    What compells you to write?
You can for a moment disappear in to another world

    Why do you write?
I find building settings and characters and some drama very fascinating

What makes you write what you write?
The freedom, the exploration, hope that I can touch something divine by writing.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
Originally I wanted to make movies and I still want. But as it turns out there is a story in all movies, so I took up story writing.

    What Do You Write?
    Fantasy and Fiction.

Its an outlet for me, it helps to have somewhere to direct the creativity. It also helps dwindle my downtime now that i don't drink anymore.

    What compells you to write?
I've always seen writing as about throwing punches at the things that I can't fix. I have no interest in writing for money/recognition, or tailoring my work for a market - what? When you start tailoring your stuff for a market, you're putting the good jagged stuff into a blender and blitzing it into a smooth paste for the f***ing idiots.

    Why do you write?
Every word I write is an attempt to say the unsaid. I'm also tired of watching the authors of "bestsellers" grow fat off a pay cheque whilst their sentences trail across the page like weak turds.

What makes you write what you write?
    Previous experiences, and bad luck.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
I have never liked to write. It was only by leveraging my distaste for writing against the writing itself that I got good at it.

    What Do You Write?
I write anything that I would be too ashamed to show my mother.

Heh, this reminds me of the Orwell essay of, almost, the same title ("Why I write"). I write because of I want to express thoughts, ideas, facts, and stories that I find important. My writing is expressive for the point of entertaining and informing others. I do not write for myself. The reason being that if I need to express something for myself, I typically end up walking around talking to myself, though it is a bad habit. Sometimes I write because I want to persuade, sometimes I write because I want to share a story, but I specifically write for others.

I write because i see things or people day to day and poems or lines come to me and if I don't write them down I will loose that lil piece of gold

    What compells you to write?
I'm scared of confrontation and there's so many conversations I'm afraid to have that need to be documented somewhere.
    Why do you write?
I write because it's cheaper than therapy and feelings are so much prettier written down.
What makes you write what you write?
There are things I don't understand and things I wish I didn't understand and writing somehow makes it all okay.
What Made you decide you liked to write?
I knew I wanted to be a writer since I was nine. I liked the way the words sounded on my tongue and how when I strung them together I could make a word as mundane as 'butter' sound like a prayer.
    What Do You Write?
I write poetry because it's chaotic and abstract and my thoughts are too large to be confined by grammatical rules.

Generally I like to write, what usually comes in my mind. I like to write the blogs and writing is my favorite hobby. While writing I really feels very nice and it gives relaxation to my mind. I also write contents and blogs for websites.

I write because when I don't, there is a little nagging tic in the back of my brain that picks at me until I do.

The gap may be two months or a year, but that tic is aways there niggling away.

    1. What compels you to write?
For me, inspiration comes like a flash flood, suddenly all at once it's here and I'm wading through ideas like I might never find dry land, then it ebbs away sometimes too quickly and I'm left standing there drenched thinking 'what the hell just happened.' As for where it comes from, if I'm having a tough time i turn to Deviant Art, for whatever reason, it seems to stimulate my inspiration. Beyond that, it's usually random.
    2. Why do you write?
I write because if I didn't I'd be an incredibly frustrated woman. I'm the type of person who cant keep ideas locked away and pull them out when I need them or just let them pass, when I have an idea I have to do something about it right away whether that's turning it into an entire series or simply writing it down in one of my notebooks and never reading it again. (Or reading it months later and wondering what the hell I meant.)
    3. What makes you write what you write?
Interest, usually I start writing about something or in a certain way because I'm curious about it and to me there's no better way to learn about something than to put yourself into the head of someone who lives it.
    4. What Made you decide you liked to write?
I don't think it was ever a decision really. I started reading long before I knew how to do much else (including walking, or so I'm told) and writing was just a natural extension of that for me and since I'm a very passionate person I decide i like something usually before I do it and that's my reason for doing it. (Now that I've typed that out it sounds backwards but makes sense in my head.)
    5. What Do You Write?
Presently, I'm working (when I decide to seriously write) on a fantasy novel based in this world (still not sure whether or not i can still call it a fantasy novel because of that.) I've never written fantasy before this book so I'm sort of learning as I go but when I'm not trying to write 'seriously' (basically that means with the end goal being to someday publishing it,) I write love stories. Though I should clarify, the love story is only half the plot, most of the time my characters fall in love while the other plot is happening if that makes sense. So to finally answer you question, 1 fantasy, countless supernatural fiction, YA I guess (if college age still counts as YA, I can never tell) and 2 fan fictions.
