Late in month special: jacket potato, yesterday's mince and a tin of white beans, plus some lettuce. His and her ratio aprox 12:1.

A whole potato cooked in it's skin (jacket) in the oven until the inside is fluffy and soft. Can be served with anything, such as Tuna 'n' Sweetcorn, Beans and Cheese, Bacon and Cheese ...

Also known as a 'Baked Potato'

Apart from the black olive, that sounds lush!

Tuna and sweetcorn? That's the craziest thing I've ever heard of on a baked potato!

@Lewdog, that's kitchen central UK - pasta tuna, or jacket spud with tuna sweetcorn. Tuna's a food monstrosity eh...in the tins.

I still haven't taken that sea rod out. It's my issew.

You ever eat a potato with broccoli and cheese on it?

Not broccolli. Brocolli's for Sundays when you cook a roast. Traditionally it is cauliflower but the more modern element go for broccolli - it's a national issue this time.

Brocolli mid-week is kind of depressing like for stir-fry. I'd be happy though with purple-headed brocolli, boiled potatoes, lamb chops and gravy - but you guys don't eat lamb.

Lamb over here is too fatty. Leaves a greasy residue in your mouth - yuk!

Broccoli chopped small is lovely in stir-fry!
And it's nice raw with a salad too.

No, the fat is fine and tasty. Marrowbone through the tube is best. I vouch many American have lamb prejudice the same ways I'm a little squeamish with eating hare or squirrel - whilst for granny it is a delicious treat, in the home mind you, when I get the rare opportunity to visit.

Tonight in my house I have chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream.

This means that I can break the cookies up and put them in a cup of ice cream...which to me is so good!

So much for sticking with my diet tonight.

I've never had hare or squirrel. The hubs has had reindeer though, when he was in Finland.

Nor have I. Saw a hare break free in front of me, once. My dad used to trap squirrels. Legally, you're required to dispose of them. Strange times. ;/

    Very!

I was brought up quite plain and boring where food's concerned. I was 24 before I even tried curry!

Do not eat squirrel. (Saith the squirrel...)

I've had rabbit stew and it was delicious. Gotta work on a recipe for that!

Sorry, but when my son offers me Brunswick stew, I will try it. He says it's delicious. Of course, the squirrel meat he uses is fresher than any grocery counter meats, because he hunts it himself.

I don't have a granny btw, I don't know why I wrote that, just an evil man.

We'd eat all of these meats if hungry enough.

Still, my man fantasy is a 10 foot square kind of steak in Montevideo, or even the USA, given some sort of visa waiver . One great pleasure is to trawl the websites that detail how disgusting British food is:

'Jeezus Christ, those Scottish eggs. Marmite and fish hands in packets, euch.'

How can you go wrong with an egg covered in fried meat?

Someone gave me a huge 19 pound frozen turkey for Thanksgiving and I have to cook one for the first time. I think this just might ruin my diet. Anyone know how good cooked turkey comes out if I freeze it and reheat it later?

My mom always made it work out well.

Also, make soup with the leftovers! Potatoes, onions, carrots, whatever else is around, plus herbs and spices and lots of yummy cut up leftover turkey! It will sustain you for the rest of your life (if your life ends around December 6th or so)! :p

I'm nervous about cooking anything that takes 4 days to thaw out and 4 and half hours to cook!
