I like 'Here's a picture of @jannert on her mammal.' I'm not that much of an equine expert, but they are pretty to look at.
Ermm ...that's not actually me, either! Actually ...I think that's the woman known as 'Cattle Kate' who met a very bad end! Thanks, @matwoolf!
You're talking to the expert of the Old West. She's a good source to go to for questions. And for curiosity's sake: What's the difference between a horse, a mule, and a donkey? I'm willing to admit ignorance because I live in the part of the world where there aren't that many horses.
All those four-legged beasts you see in Western movies and TV shows are horses, except the ones the miners and the Mexican villagers are using as pack animals - those are donkeys. Oh, and the one Festus Haggen rides on Gunsmoke is a mule (a male, named Ruth).
Purple? @Link the Writer, horses and donkeys are two different species, closely related but their chromosome numbers differ. They can have offspring -> mules. But they aren't close enough to mix like mating within a species, so mules are sterile and usually cannot have more mules. Except it has happened: You can't foal Mother Nature.
Being grateful always makes me happy. People think being happy makes you grateful. The reverse is true. Breasts also make me happy.
A mule is the offspring of a donkey and a horse. Usually a male donkey and a mare. Mules are nearly always sterile. They were popular because they were very sure-footed (like the donkey) and could carry heavier loads than any other pack animal. They were also cheaper to feed than horses because they didn't require as much grain. I believe they are also more long-lived than horses, and have a longer 'useful' life. They were inelegant, but very popular animals. Interestingly, the offspring of the stallion and the female donkey were not as valued as the mule. They tended to be smaller and more difficult to train, although very long-lived. They were called 'hinnies.' Oh, I see Ginger already told you some of this. I have an excuse. Just got back from the dentist!
I didn't schmuck the big freaking buck in the middle of the road on the way back from my grandparents.
That's great, but a little surprising to me. I've always assumed that your part of the world is decades ahead of us on stuff like that.
Nope, Finland can be surprisingly conservative -- and timid of change. Scandinavian countries are more progressive.
And what's more, from another article on the matter: http://yle.fi/uutiset/finnish_lutheran_leader_rejoices_over_same-sex_marriage_vote/7658255
