It also helps to remember that potato is a truly heinous adaptation of batata, filtered first through Spanish that has an intolerant phonology and then into English that has, as a rule when adapting foreign words, a rather deaf ear.

TMW you no longer care how crack-headed your efforts to cover a window appear, just as long as you get to sleep in late tomorrow.

TMW you realize that you've probably sung some of Elvis Presley's songs more often than he ever did, because you're 53 and he died at 42. This makes you feel really old, because you were only sixteen when he died and at that time you thought he was frighteningly old, especially for a rock star. Now, when you sing his songs, you feel like a reanimated mummy strumming an ancient guitar and wheezing out dust from your 3,000-year-old lungs.

    Time is a motherfucker.

    Yes, he is. :dead:

TMW the previous post made you go look for early Elvis images from the mid 50's and you realize that while you may not exactly be an Elvis fan, you would most definitely have hit that, had it been available for hitting. ;)

That moment when you realize that you just ate some canned chowder that was way past the "Best If Used By..." date.

Who cares about "Best before" dates anyway? As long as the food is good there is no reason to throw it away.

TMW you realize that writing eighty pages is both much less difficult and much less significant than you'd previously imagined.

Sometimes when the translations are really bad in the bara manga I enjoy, I import them into GIMP and write my own dialogue. ;)

That moment when you've got your protagonist's character nicely developed based on his adhering to/rejecting a certain real-life group's principles, ideals, etc.-- and somebody tells you you've got their principles all wrong.

the only problem is, i come back from another uni three days before, so, uh, yeah i'm kinda busy.

    TMW...

You let your characters have a thought on your plotting and story process and are surprised when they basically, in one voice, say, "What are you thinking!? There are more than one thing here that makes absolutely no sense both in our universe and yours, let's go over them shall we?"

It's good to listen to your characters from time to time. :D

That moment when you read the headline, Disney wants Chris Pratt for 'Indiana Jones' and you realize that you have no idea who Chris Pratt is, didn't know Disney owned the Indiana Jones franchise, and, come to think of it, you don't recognize the names or faces of any of the celebrities on the covers of the magazines at the supermarket checkout, except maybe Kim Kardashian, but only if she's photographed from behind. Inevitable consequence of old age, I guess.

Nah, I wouldn't recognise anyone either. Probably not even Kardashian. And I'm not old... I think.

And, btw, Disney owns Indiana Jones? o_O

That moment when you open a file from your phone on your computer and the file is missing over 500 lines (~25% of the file). But if the file is opened on the phone everything is still there... :wtf:

TMW you read an article that states that The Office is arguably the most successful U.S. remake of a U.K. show and you get deeply annoyed at the hard-to-ignore millennial inability to believe that there exists cultural history from further back than 20 years ago. How did the writer of this article miss the wildly popular All in the Family, a U.S. remake of the even older Till Death Us Do Part? Oh, I'm sorry, maybe because it occurred during the amorphous void of time that encompasses The Big Bang through somewhere in the early 90's.

TMW...You spoke your mind. It wasn't kind; it was honest, a glaring counterpoint to all the others. It made me wonder, I am I just that far gone, so damaged that I am not able to see as others see? What critical element am I missing?

Well, you just have a different opinion than others. Nothing wrong with that.
