Dark mornings and evenings don't impress me that much. Nights, on the other hand... we have done some overnight walking trips with my friends and those were great. But I guess I need to be in the mood for it. Hey, you've been to Prague? That's where I live.
Yes i have indeed! it was the first time i have been, can i just say how much of an amazing place it is? my parents were sceptical before we left, but they came back, like me, wanting to visit again!
@ChaosReigns I can't wait... I even bought a new plug board and have all my battery chargers lined up like little soldiers. I'm not risking the red warning light coming on at all costs. Talking of Prague, my mate is currently in Aus but is heading to Krakow when he returns. He's under instructions to take as many photos of unusual architectural features for my stock pics folder as he can. Prague would be ideal for that. I ask this of my friends anytime they are going some place interesting. I don't get to travel as much as I used to, which is a pity as photography and manipulation are something I've taken up rather late in life... but, as I have found, there are ways round that without having to spend a small fortune on commercial stock pics. And with many of my friends having an iPhone 6, the quality of the pics are great.
id love to share some of the photos, but i still need to process them all! i have about 500 from the trip that i need to go through, delete some and that kinda stuff
id love to share some of my photos, but they are too big file size wise, serves me right for using my DSLR on its highest setting! *edit* ive figured out that i can add them to facebook to then share here, this is only a small handful of what i took, ill post the link in a more appropriate thread!
@KaTrian lol... You know me...always happy to spam the dedicated pics thread. @ChaosReigns Looking forward to seeing them. There are so many gorgeous buildings in Prague. Unfortunately many of the older buildings in Belfast suffered badly during the Troubles, but that is made up for by the amount of castles and country estates we have a little further afield. I'm an utter bore to go on holiday with unless the person accompanying me is as much of a building and ruin geek as I am.
@obsidian_cicatrix i can imagine! you and i would be great on a trip together! i love architecture and photographing it. P.S i hope you like Franz Kafka, i have a couple of photo's of his house in Prague amongst my collection!
After some weeks of working with the research historian in my local museum, I think I've found my true calling. I think I want to work as a research historian.
I'm happy because today is my best friend's birthday. Well, one of my best friends, anyway. So, Happy Birthday Billy!!!!!!!!
well im happy because for once, the sociology essay that i am writing, i actually get what the hell im supposed to be doing! plus, I dont think its going to take me that long to knock out the 1500 words required for it.
Danced barefoot around the kitchen for the sheer hell of it...(One dog, Zwi, thought I was nuts, the other, Rue, joined in...). Proof positive that there is joy to be had in the little things even when you are pissed at the world as a whole. Still worried, but I won't be going to bed mad. Sometimes I need to kick my own ass and say: Lighten up! You're still here...and you've known laughter.
I'm happy as i have new glasses it seems trivial, but glasses are something i have to wear permanently to even see, and to get a new pair is always awesome!
I am now the proud owner of my very first smart phone! (Yeah, weird, right? It was time to join the 21st century. It was time to learn what things like Twitter and Angry Birds were all about. And "apps.") I've been getting by on a dumb cell phone for years - it did phone, text, GPS navigation, and the standard stuff like calculator and stuff. It didn't get on the Internet. It was dumb. My roomie/partner had even less - he didn't have a cell phone at all! Yikes! When we were on a job, he'd always have to borrow mine. Our clients were bewildered, but they just figured he was eccentric or something. But it couldn't last. So my roomie and I went out today and now we each have a brand-new Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Expensive, top-of-the-line phones, but smart, and they have great cameras (not much of a selling point for me, but my roomie loves his cameras). The next step is to enroll in the Pacific Institute of How To Use Smart Phones. This is a six-year program, with four years of undergraduate work, followed by two years of internship. At that point, I will be able to place and receive phone calls and recharge the phone. Advanced students will also have learned to text. As for the other features of the phone? They'll take the rest of my life to learn, I'm sure. Still, happytime!
I got my first smart phone in December (on my birthday). I wished for one since my old phone, which actually had touch, was starting to bug out. I would never get one of the latest models though, that is just a waste of money.
Talking of smartphones, I had an IPhone through my old firm and I fucking hated it. Hated it! It was the most irritating piece of counter-intuitive horse shit I have ever used. I use a windows phone now.
Well, have fun. I'm still happy with my StupidPhone that is so stupid it doesn't even take photos and its text function is kaput. But I hate being yakked at and texted when I'm out, so it suits me. And I don't get out much these days, anyway! One of the perks of getting older. I'm on the happy thread because I'm very very happy for a dear friend of mine back in the states, who is now in his late 50s. He lost his real job several years ago when the company he worked for went bust. Shortly afterwards his marriage went bust as well. He spent over a year in real misery, trying to find a job in his field, and ended up with a contract position which held onto for several years. He loved the work (digital mapping) but the company kept him on contract and on tenterhooks and didn't pay benefits. He had to live in a crappy little flat in a town he didn't much like. And then in January this year the other shoe finally dropped and the company he worked for moved on. He only spent a few weeks unemployed this time, though, before landing a permanent job with a very good company (one I often use here in the UK) that treats its customers AND employees well indeed. His new job pays well WITH benefits, and he's moved into a nice, spacious flat in a nice town that is near to many things he likes to do in his spare time. I'm delighted for him. What goes around comes around, eh?
Happy because T and I finally finished our millionth edit of our WIP. We had to re-write most of the ending because the plot had changed and become more streamlined over time, so of course we need to go through that again, but just the fact that this version is wrapped up makes me happy.
Congrats, @KaTrian and @T.Trian! Is it done now and ready to submit? Or will there be a 1,000,001th edit?
Thanks! Unfortunately we have to go through it one more time, but not with the same fine-toothed comb as we did now. We'll just go back and delete some superfluous bits and make a couple of adjustments to some clichés (e.g. after making it way past all the scenes where people had hidden in supply closets, we realized there is an unrealistic amount of unlocked supply closets in the world of fiction, so now we gotta go back and do something about that ).
