i found out today, that after thinking that the college I go to blocked forums, I found out I can still access here now, if they actually gave me some work to do, I might actually get on with it!
Well done @KaTrian and @T.Trian. I'm sure you are pumped the hardest part is done and dusted. I'd just be happy to get my darn thing finished never mind tackling the arduous job of editing.
Nope, not nearly done yet, alas. My guess, based on past experiences, is that there will be at least 2 more full edits (probably brings the total number of full edits close to 30... yeah ) because we're still working on bribing, begging, pleading, pressuring, blackmailing etc. a couple of soldiers to help us with the military stuff because we're über-anal about getting all the tiny details right. Oh, and we still need to, I dunno, kidnap some doctor to help with the medical details. Oh well, I do think this was the most crucial edit, at least in comparison to the next 1-2 ones which are all about polishing, so I expect the most frustrating moments are behind us (fingers crossed).
well, done some more research on a project i have to do for college (an extended essay on whether or not video games cause violence in young adults) and I have found a metric ton of information and articles on the subject... now, what do i use of all this information i have just found? anyway, this makes me happy as my job has been made easier in terms of research.
Of course, I already promised one person that when i have completed the essay, question is, do i post it Online when i have finished this course and got my grade for it or do i take it further?
Can you use essays as premises for e.g. BA thesis? I expanded my BA to MA 'cause I was interested in the topic and already knew the topic quite well. If you're passionate about your topic and put a lot of effort in gathering sources, it'd make sense to continue studying it beyond one EE.
Call me naive, but I'm really quite happy about the fact that in this year's Eurovision contest Finland is represented by a punk band (Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät). The band has plainly stated that they're participating so as to raise awareness (the band is entirely comprised of members who are considered disabled), and, really, that's what punk is about: critique, rebellion and, whether we like it or not, politics. So no, punk's not dead. Next year: Pussy Riot to represent Russia? P.s. For those across the pond who may not know, the Eurovision Song Contest is an annual song competition for European and surrounding countries. Last year's winner was, in addition to a singer, a homosexual drag queen, Conchita Wurst. Wurst declared upon accepting her trophy that "We are unity and we are unstoppable", a message meant for politicians (mostly in the east) who oppose LGBT rights. So Eurovision is no stranger to social activism in addition to music.
Well, it can't be said that I didn't try because I took a leap. We'll see where it goes from here. Just saying I had the guts to try is enough to make me happy today.
I couldn't by any stretch of the imagination describe how I'm feeling right now as happy, (damn Bi Polar!) it would be more correct to say that I'm grateful. One of my friends frequents auctions and car boot sales. He does buy some seriously dubious shit. One Sunday he came back with an item that grabbed my attention. It's not particularly well made, very crudely put together if I'm honest, but that's part of its charm. It's a bust of Ned Kelley fashioned in cast iron but finished to look like bronze. My mate was shaking his head over his motivation behind buying it as he had no use for it, and asked if I'd like to take it off his hands. It just so happens I'd had to shift my video games from their home in my big bookcase, as I didn't have space for my growing Terry Pratchett collection. In their current resting place, they list and fall to the floor as I do the lazy thing by trying to dust around them. Ned makes a great book end. On having a closer look I've decided that it was probably knocked up with tourists in mind. The slit in the metal bucket helmet is obviously for slotting money into, if the release catch on the base is anything to go by. It was made in New South Wales in 1956. One thing I have managed to find out, is that it's actually worth four times more than he paid for it so it seems I've lucked out, not that I'd ever sell it. I'm just glad, despite his impulsive nature, my friend didn't get ripped off.
I'm going for the happy thread instead of the not happy thread out of some kind of hope about not complaining
I'm going for another one - just found the most amazing feedback on this site that has bought my thoughts together, and helped me compose an email to my mentor, on this 'final' point in the process of developing my full length play, DISAGREEING with him! This is truly an amazing forum, I can't thank the person I got the feedback from enough! Someone get me the Champagne!
Tube be honest, I have a crew-ed so many single socks, I find myself knee-high in a tights situation that I need to a dress.
To turn deadly serious for a moment, surely the only way to minimise sock misery is to buy only one type of sock (black for me). Cuts down on sock loss by up to 50% and saves a lot of time when choosing socks.
This was my tactic for several blissful years before my mom went and ruined it all by giving me a few pairs of socks that weren't all black regulars. #1stWorldProblems And today I'm happy because it's Saturday! We have my mom's birthday dinner later, but apart from that it's two full days with @KaTrian.
When I moved to SoCal, I pretty much abandoned socks altogether. You really don't need them here. Not having them means not losing them, so, bonus! So what if the laundry machines go hungry?
