Is it possible to get writer's block from a writing prompt? o_O This is a conundrum.

Probably. I don't think you can get it from a toilet seat, though. :D

Turn the hammer around so you can use the claw side. Using the claw, remove the railroad spike you seem to have pounded into your jaw. Chewing is easier when your jaw is not festooned with railroad spikes.

It's amazing how much this happens. Even toothpicks are bigger in Texas.

    Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!
    I hate COMCAST. Lousy equipment!!!

    And no, I don't feel better yet.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

After spending the time to get replacement equipment, it worked for all of one day. Tonight, it's not working again.

That's it. I'm done. Tomorrow I call DISH TV or just get Netflicks.

DirecTV, not DISH. You get really good customer service from DirecTV.

    I hate my family.

My sister moved to the UK two years ago. A year after that, I moved from Illinois to Virginia. My sister has since had a child. I have since gotten married. My sister has visited many times since her move. I haven't visited (or been visited) once. After my wedding, I made an agreement with my father (since none of my family was invited) to go to Illinois and have a "reception" for my family there. I don't work, but my husband gets all national holidays off. So we figured we'd go during a three-day weekend, that way he'd only have to request one day off instead of two. The only option we have is Memorial Day (May 25). So I figured, that'd be great! We're going on our honeymoon May 4, so it'd be nice to have the "reception" shortly after.

I asked my dad if that works. Turns out, my sister's brother-in-law is getting married May 30 in Colorado. My sister will be there. My dad decided he'd rather drive there (12 hours) on May 21 (a week and a half before the wedding) to see my sister and nephew (who he's seen at least 5 times since she moved; hasn't seen me in over a year) than have a wedding reception for me.

I don't know why I'm surprised. They've always picked my sister over me. It just sucks to have it thrown in my face so obviously.

Can anyone take a guess why I moved away from them? :D

Really? That sucks! On the other hand, I can kind of understand grandparents wanting to see their grand kids. Before, my mom hardly ever visited me and my brother. After he got a kid, she's adamant about traveling that 300km as often as she can just so she won't miss too much of that little rascal growing up.

Maybe something like that is going on with your fam too?

I'm sure that's part of it. It's still frustrating. She visited at least three times (only once since she had her baby). But she's been visited so many times. My grandma, grandpa, and great aunt all visited her last summer. My dad just went in October. My aunt and uncle are going this summer. I know her location makes wanting to visit her easier. She's in the UK. Much of my family has never been there, so they see this as their only opportunity.

But no one in my family has made any effort whatsoever to visit me. They keep saying, "When are you going to come visit?" ...Travel works both ways! I know it's just Virginia; it's not nearly as exciting as London and Stonehenge and Buckingham Palace. But I purposely got a three bedroom townhouse so I could have a place for guests to stay. And no one's even offered, except my best friend who came to my wedding.

I knew it was going to be like this. In fact, I was looking forward to it. I hated having to be around my family all the time, because they so clearly did not want to be around me. (My dad remarried, and they became his "new" family... I'm too much like my mother to fit in with them apparently.) I was ready to be out on my own, away from them and their expectation of how I should live my life. I guess I just kind of hoped that the saying "Distance makes the heart grow fonder" was true. Apparently not....

You know what would be funny? If we moved this thread from the "Entertainment" section to the "Debate Room" section. Here's the real question: Did I just post in the wrong thread?

I just spent two weeks working on an application for funding for a second phase of the project I'm employed in following the instructions I had been given. I got it all approved by one of my two bosses and sent it to the other one for review, and after a cursory glance they decided that all the instructions they'd given me previously don't apply any longer, and came up with a new set, which means all I've done so far can be dumped and I have to start from scratch all over again, following instructions which might be overthrown again in three weeks time.

I have to go in on Monday to have a root canal through a crown to check on the quality of the previous root canal because I have an abscess. If the previous root canal was done right, I have to pay for both, and if the tooth is broken it has to be pulled and I have to get an implant. Best case scenario: spending thousands on a tooth.
