I resemble that remark!

It hits me daily. I have some serious writing to do, but I keep telling myself that I need to warm up first - to get my writing muscles in shape. So I have this piece of gay erotica I've been working on as a warm-up. The plan was to spend an hour or so each day working on the erotica, then work on the serious stuff.

Then you face the truth: two months have gone by, and you haven't done any work on the serious stuff. And by god, you haven't done any work on the erotica either!

I'm 53 years old. The pages are not piling up. The dreams of my youth are not coming to fruition. I need a huge boot, like one of those Elton John wore in the movie Tommy, to kick myself in the ass on a daily basis. I need to get the work done!

 

That Moment When...you feel weak and dizzy, you notice that you have a headache and your limbs are heavy.

Presented to you are two possible conclusions to extract from this:
(1) I'm hungry and need to go eat lunch.
(2) Oh my God, I'm having a stroke.

Guess which one my lovely, friendly, best-bud-for-life anxiety picked. If you answered the first one, then congrats! You don't have Generalized Anxiety Disorder: a disorder that makes you think that any ache and pain is a sign of some horrible illness, that anything that could go wrong will go wrong in a hilariously spectacular way.

 

That moment when you suddenly realize you have a class to teach tomorrow morning and you completely spaced. Whoops, good thing I decided to check my calendar...

Haha! That is awesome. I'm a little less creative, I'm afraid. I often find myself singing the Benny Hill theme when doing escort missions.

 

That moment when the prosecutor and defense attorney proclaim themselves satisfied with the jury and you weren't called for the six-day Criminal Sexual Conduct trial (victim(s) was/were between ten and fourteen, possibly special needs kids). Sweet relief walking racing out of the courtroom.

 

That moment when you made a thread in a particular forum and you feel like you've done nothing but make people think you're stupid and ignorant.

Also, That Moment when you think back to an earlier project you started, but never completed, feel nostalgia and sense of 'wow, I actually miss that story!' and decide to give it one more crack. One more shot.

That moment when you find that you miss talking to people even though you're an introvert. Social powers activate!

 

That moment when your fellow Zelda nerds and you learn that the new Zelda game for the Wii U has been delayed and there will be no Zelda at E3 this year.

Well damn. At least I've got other games to look forward to.

Also, that moment when some of your fellow Zelda fans in that forum act like Nintendo just committed a heinous crime most foul for delaying a game. People, it's just a game!

 

TMW you listen to Metallica's Master of Puppets and it makes you realize exactly how to begin the story you've been false-starting on all week.

 

TMW you realise that GRRM seriously overwrites just to pad out his books - Feast of Crows.... meh

 

You take hot water out of the faucet and use it to make tea?

TMW you agree to do something without really thinking it through for fear of missing an opportunity and then realize what you had just agreed to might be a bit too much for you to chew.

 

TMW you delete all your stories, throw away all your world-building and character notes and quit writing forever.
