That moment when you have to get up at 6am because the pump in your aquarium has gone rogue and is pumping out water onto the floor... :wtf:

That moment when, you are sitting there, halfway through the days class (sociology in this case) to find that the assignment that you have been set has been completed, and you need to present it. then realise that thats not for another three weeks. hooray for getting sh*t done early!

TMW... You watch a sad scene in a movie, but the music is...oddly upbeat, catchy and not at all fitting for what's otherwise a scene of tragedy.

That moment when (after toiling for some time in the bookcase lined aisles for a new novel to read) you go to purchase yet another second hand book and the seller informs you that you can choose another, free, gratis and for nowt.

Not only do I have a new historical novel to read, I now have a pristine copy of The SAGE Dictionary of Criminology for my miscellaneous stack. Yay!

TMW the gal who friended you on f/b, with whom you've been chatting for weeks like bosom buddies, whom you figured was a friend of a friend who thought your comments were fun and decided to "friend" you, is actually your old college roommate, the facial memory of whom was obliterated by the bushels of weed you smoked in those years...

    TMW...

A movie makes you want to read the book it's based off of. Reading The Hobbit now. Might end up pestering folks here with questions, who knows? :p

TMW you realize Edmund Burke was objectively an asshole. His conservative philosophy is something we could reasonably discuss, but anyone who wants his government to not give some of its food reserves to starving families after a famine because it would violate the "laws of the commerce... and consequently the laws of God" is an asshole.

TMW you realize that communicating with other people whose age/race/gender/sexuality/etc. you may not know is an interesting experiment in social psychology. Putting an imagined "face" to different members can change how I communicate with them.

TMW you get into a strange car and realize you are totally not in tune with it at all. I've just drove my dad's car, took my foot off the clutch and the gentle push forward I was expecting was in fact a huge lurch, and so I put my foot on the break to compensate for the newfound speed and ended up slowing much quicker than expected. I could almost see the van driver passing me mouthing 'What a wanker'. And then I put it into 2nd and suddenly it felt like I had just put the car into hyperspace mode.

    New cars are weird.

Not here, no way, nurgh-urh - keep all but fresh tea away from me. And that takes time to set up. Most instant teas taste like what comes out a car exhaust. :p

Not if one accepts capitalism and free market can be included to the definition of socialism. :)

There are many forms of it, sure, but what they were talking about is called Nordic capitalism. The public sector is fairly large and there's universal health care, so suppose it can be misleading to some.

TMW you realize the whole world is against you. Even your family and friends won't support your endeavor. Your heart aches and you wonder if you should just give up. But then a fiercer pain filled with pride and terror takes over and you are suddenly filled with excitement. The heartache becomes a morale boost of mixed emotions; with a smile on your face, you take a deep sigh and thoughts about giving up and turning back become silly again.

    Never give up! Never surrender!
