Nope. Atlantic Seaboard is 8:24 pm as of this post right here, so it's more than 24 hours away. 27 hours 36 min away.
@Wreybies No never heard of it. Haven't read much lately. Got half way through Steven Erickson's Garden of the Moon last year and haven't read since.
@Wreybies That's a nice waist he's got there It's not that I didn't like it, I just got busy and little by little I just stopped reading or visiting book stores.
I was reading through the entries now that the submission period is closed, and I'm curious as to whether they're meant to be discussed at all? The contests I've run in the past all had critique and/or commentary during the voting period (in fact, you couldn't vote unless you'd commented substantively on each story). Not suggesting that be done here, but I had some thoughts on some of the entries and I was curious whether it is acceptable to share them, or whether 'mum' is the word until voting is all over.
I'd assume you can personally talk about a certain piece but since it's all anonymous the authors would have no choice but to refrain from making any show of which one is theirs.
Yeah. But people might worry that some who haven't voted will have their vote swayed by such a conversation (which I'm not sure is necessarily a problem, but people might not like it).
Ooh, true that. Maybe it'd be best until the end when people can talk about it freely? I think we did it for the last sci-fi contest.
OK. In previous contests I've been part of, whether as a judge or when the whole forum was voting, there was vigorous discussion about the works all through the voting period. Just wanted the check the protocol here
Patience @Steerpike, patience. I think a discussion could influence other's votes. So either we decide to do that as a community or we don't and at the moment discussions should wait. If anyone's interested in changing that tradition, I'm fine with it, but it should be with a majority approval before the contest begins.
I'm fine either way, I just wanted to check before I mentioned some things about some of the entries, to make sure we didn't have a rule against it. I'll hold off. I had something positive to say about one in particular
Actually, this one is @Wreybies baby, not mine. He has the only say on rules in this case. I was giving opinion.
Agggh! I'm having trouble making up my mind. I've narrowed them down to two, one I love for the writing itself, the other (imo) being most evocative of the pic. Decisions, decisions.
Now that the contest is over, I'd like to know what the picture was specifically. @obsidian_cicatrix Thanks
