That makes sense. But I would still think that she would have insulted the wrong person by now and learned that you can't talk to everybody like that and NOT expect to make some enemies.
I think at the end of the day, no one really cares if Asara kills people or not. I mean, most of the people on the crew have been pirates a while and have killed at some point in their lives. (Elva is a psycho, so yes, she has a few deserving victims under her belt.) Pirates could care less about killing, it's just part of being a pirate, so if Asara thinks people will overlook her rudeness because she thinks twice about killing people, that's kinda silly. In the end, I think it just comes down to being likable. By the way, in real life I like Asara. I have a thing for all difficult anti-hero types. How could I not, I have a long history of making up difficult characters for Roleplays, lol. It's only recently that I thought it would be cool to try nice characters. Nice, but tough, of course.
Asara doesn't consider what she's saying to be insults. She considers it more along the line of verbal sparring. It's actually common in the UK between friends, and I know it's not that common in the US.
Actually, I do that with my friends, a lot. I just got the impression Asara was being dead serious, lol. Edit: I think the reason I thought Asara was confusing was just that I thought she knew how she was. I thought she knew she was being a meanie and that was just her thing, which I can respect. It takes a lot of guts to be that bad-ass. But I just got thrown for a loop when she acted like she didn't understand why people would react adversely to her personality, lol.
Just to be clear, I think Asara brings a lot of spice to the story. It would be missing something if she wasn't there.
Oh, and would either of you two please reply to Tarnished City. They've met one new character and are about to meet another.
I'll just correct this before it gets confusing now that we're both on the ship, but Alan is the stow-away with the revolver getting tossed around by Syra who got left behind on the ship. Adam is the soldier who just left Cursed Island to join the crew. My bad for picking a similar name, it didn't occur to me at the time.
And I was beginning to think I was the only one who'd noticed that. Also, while we're on the subject, "Alan" is also the name of the royal wizard. Yup, same spelling and all.
This may be irrelevent for the actual story, but I wonder if you had an actual date or year in mind that this story takes place. The age of pirating spans over several centuries, so I find it a bit hard to orientate what things already exist and which don't. Sally's flintstock rifle was probably invented around 1654 and Alan's revolver might have been invented in the late 16th century, but didn't see widespread use until 1836. I understand this is already a different world than the one we know, but if I, for example, would want to mention the date of Adam's trial, I'm not really sure in what century to place it. I'm probably overthinking this, but I was just curious if you had anything specific in mind.
I've been putting the finishing touches on my post with Ace back in his room. Just waiting on approval from Bewitched on some of the bits. So I don't know what you're planning but Ace is not on deck anymore.
@obi-sem kenobi, this story doesn't take place on Earth, it takes place in an alternate world called Terra. So you don't need to worry about being so literal.
Well, Blast said we'd be there by nightfall, so I guess its dusk. Hmmm... I gotta edit, too, because I assumed it was night. Maybe Blast is just really fast. *wink, wink*
So I just saw Gladiatior for the first time in my life (I know, shame on me), and I realised that I could have kept Adam's personality description a whole lot shorter. "Russel Crowe in the first 30 minutes of the movie."
They arrived just as night was falling...sorry I saw this so late, I coulda cleared this up sooner. I hope you guys don't mind me killing off one of our beloved characters...
You're really not pulling any punches this time, are you. Everybody and their mother seems to be here
And yet, it feels like we're missing someone... *Meanwhile, at the royal palace* King Roger: Yo, Alan. Royal Wizard: Yes, sire? King Roger: How's that thing with Captain Boom going? Have we caught him yet? Royal Wizard: You sent Quickblade after him two days ago, Your Highness. King Roger: Oh, yeah, I forgot. *laughs* So that means he should be dead, like, a week ago, right? Royal Wizard: Indeed, sire. King Roger: Awesome. *awkward silence* Royal Wizard: And it's 'Blast' by the way. King Roger: Hmm, did you say something? Sorry, I was nodding off for a sec. Royal Wizard: *sigh* Nothing, sire. I shall wake you when this brilliant plan backfires and he returns to kill us all. King Roger: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz Royal Wizard: ...exactly.
