I got a $10 discount off Chapters/indigo and I'd like to use it. Coupon expires tomorrow >.> Any recommendation for quality fantasy novels? I was considering The Magicians box set but somehow I'm extremely hesitant on reading it. I'm afraid I won't like it as much as I do the TV show (which is totally weird) I loved The Child Thief, The Lies of Locke Lamora, The Nightrunner Series, A Land Fit for Heroes, and... so much more. I'll check out any suggestions so let me know if there is a must read fantasy book (That you actually liked and isn't a pretentious way of showing us how literate you are )
My all-time favourite fantasy novel is definitely Imajica by Clive Barker. Most of the other books by him that I have read are close to the top of my list too (Weaveworld, The Abarat trilogy, Mr. B Gone, etc.). (Note: some of his books are classified as horror, though I don't think it classify those kinda read as such, except maybe Mr. B Gone.)
North Child (Or Rose, it has two titles) by Edith Pattou Momo by Michael Ende (Same bloke who did the neverending story) Death & Co. by Debbie McCune A Face like Glass by Frances Hardinge Stravaganza by Mary Hoffman BEST FANTASY SERIES EVER. And you can read the first book stand alone too. They're all YA or childrens fantasy really but still a good read as I'm a big kid
Dresden Files or Cinder Spires or Codex Alera by Jim Butcher Discworld by Terry Pratchett Almost anything by Christopher Moore (If you're also into literary comedy) Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson (good foil to Lies of Lock Lamora somewhat)
@Jack Asher I like how Chapters doesn't have a book synopsis >.> And for everyone else who suggested things, thank you! I looked through all your suggest (every single one) and some were rather interesting However, I went with Rules of Ever After (Not sure how I stumbled on it) Thanks for all the great suggestions, I'll probably keep them in mind for my next book browsing :3
If you mean the series by Sanderson, I strongly recommend this one! One of my favorite fantasy novels!
@Matt E Yeap. I just got gifted a 25$ gift card to indigo. Might buy a book from the series once I need new material.
The Witcher by Andzej Sapkowski is an awesome book saga. It's Dark Fantasy, and the first one in the series is "The Last Wish". It's a collection of short stories that introduces you to the world of the Witcher.
Yeah, I considered buying one of his books but never did. It sounds like a good enough read so I might give it a shot one day. Currently, no time for books anymore
