    You need an EMP device for that kind of jerk. Then you will have silence and they will have a $700+ brick. You deserve silence while you write. :p

    You fail to understand the issue. People are jerks with obnoxious ringtones, and they deserve to knocked down a peg. :p So you missed the message entirely. :p

    Yes, yes you did. lol He's been gone for quiet some time. If the Lounge was open, I'd show you. :p Someone posted a "Where's Lemex?" thread, and he said he's stepping away from the forum. Because, you know.... life. Apparently he was on here too much. :rolleyes:

    He likely got tired of getting into fights at the Debate forum so he was all, "F*ck this, I'm out!" and bolted.

    I cannot understand people who feel the need to continually insult groups of people for the pure reason of insulting them. I can understand if it happens in the heat of the moment. I can even understand if it happens occasionally over the long-term. But for it to happen continually and purposely over months and months ... Legitimate arguments and attempts to make legitimate arguments are one thing, but this is blatantly not that. It's obviously not trying to change the person's mind. (Insults without substantive arguments don't do that.) It's obviously not trying to show others your opinion, given that the others you are sharing the insults with already know your opinion. All it's doing is allowing you to enjoy the "grown-up" version of bullying the nerdy kid where you can see yourself as the superior in-group and you get to revel in the fact that you're not a part of the inferior out-group. It's petty, and I find it embarrassing for people who think it's okay.

    There may have potentially been some discipline in the "Hypocrisy"thread, but it seems like the mod's have decided this behavior isn't worthy of further discipline. I don't care to argue whether they should or shouldn't do something else--there's a lot of pragmatism that has to be weighed in determining how "bad" something has to be to warrant discipline--but I do want to point out that just because they haven't done anything, that doesn't mean it isn't wrong. I think anyone who takes a step back from whatever political ideology they have will see that it's wrong. I really don't like Donald Trump, but I would think poorly of anyone who continually posts messages about how all Trump followers are morally-corrupt uneducated White Supremacists every day for months on end for the sole purpose of insulting members of this forum who support Trump. I think others would quickly tire of it too if they were aware of it.

    I don't think the people doing this are going to stop because of this post--they already know how I and some others feel about it, and they've done enough of it that their pride probably won't let them change their view now. At the minimum: take a look at what you're doing. At least be honest with yourself about whether you're in the right here, so maybe when other situations like this come up in the future, you'll think twice whether that behavior aligns with how you view yourself as a person.

    @Ben414 I think you're placing too much importance on internet forum posts. I know Trump supporters who are perfectly good people. I don't understand their political choices, but whatever...we discuss politics. Two of the smartest people I know are a hardcore conservative and a socialist. Totally opposite on the political spectrum, but we have had many great political discussions because of it. The idea that an internet forum is reflective of anything other than the very limited interactions you see on it is, in my view, a mistake.

    @Ben414

    I think one of the reasons 2016 is so heated (politically speaking) is that you have the regulars who've been following politics for years, if not decades, and then you have a whole slew of angry people getting involved in politics for the first time. For (many of) the former group, it's supposed to be politics as usual. For the latter, whether you support Trump or Sanders, this isn't just politics, it's a movement.

    The former think that in a political arena, we should be able to separate the political stance from the individual having that stance. This explains why, say, Clinton could go from slamming Obama to endorsing him without blinking an eye, or why pundits talk in terms of Clinton "shifting" her message to get voters, like that's an OK thing.

    The latter, the new, angry voters, definitely do not see things that way. This is not "politics as usual." This isn't a game of polo between gentlemen. This is a political movement. They demand change, and anyone standing in that way will inevitably be criticized. From my interactions with the first group, it seems they have a real hard time understanding this, probably in the same way that we have a hard time understanding how they could be so establishment loyal.

    Actually, despite being labelled "a muscular kangaroo" most kangaroos are strong anyway. That one's just on roids.:p
    Besides, the best weapon in a kangaroos arsenal is being able to disembowel you with a kick. Just like emus and cassowaries... A lot of disemboweling kicks among Australia's large prey animals. Probably leftover from having to coexist with Megalania.

    Man, my best friend of 15 years and I used to be polar opposites on the political scale. We literally didn't talk for about 6 months over it. We said a lot of hurtful things to each other in the heat of the moment, some of which I wish I could take back. But now, several years later I'm able to say "man, she really planted a lot of seeds back in those days that I'm finally starting to understand," and vice versa.

    My point is that, while these kinds of conversations certainly don't guarantee cognitive expansion, stopping them ensures that they won't.

    Does that give someone a license to be intentionally hurtful and abusive? Of course not. But knowing the difference between someone whose become so flabbergasted by someone else's response stating as such candidly, and someone being intentionally hurtful is key. Offenders should be dealt with on an individual basis -- on both sides.

    Both require maturity and a sense of seeing beyond one's own nose.
