Do they not use breathalyzers or blood alcohol tests before making DUI charges?

The open interview for Petco is in an hour and I'm really nervous. :confuzled: Which is weird because... I never get nervous for interviews. I have nothing to lose so I go into them with that attitude and always do great. I've never had an interview that didn't result in a job offer.

Hopefully I'll calm down before I get there.

Yeah, that really sucks, @No-Name Slob. I'm sorry you have to go through that. Just adds to the accusations of police being corrupt. (Just trying to fill their quotas, right?) Hopefully you can get it settled without breaking the bank.

That's what I was going to ask. In my state, the jack-booted thug officer can confiscate your drivers license on the spot if you refuse to submit to a breathalyzer, but you have no legal obligation to perform tricks for them on the side of the road. Sadly, making you pay a lot of money for a lawyer (or pleading guilty if you can't) is the point of the whole exercise.

@Megalith (Couldn't tell you if you were being sarcastic nor not and forgot to quote ya :p)

I never said not to be vocal and I never said excuse to it (Those words never showed up in either of my posts and I'd never say that cause its wrong.). In fact in I tried to be as encouraging as possible to fight against corruption, to be vocal and to expand your mind while simply pointing out its hard manage power (I certainly don't think I'd do great as I am right now as a young man...who is probably not aggressive enough) but its interesting to write about that decline, greed and how people change.

I've written quite a bit of crime fiction but haven't gotten into writing about corrupt politics yet but would like to now down the road.

I think it be an interesting subject to tackle was all I was saying in a story and considering everyone is passionate about it. I'm sure it be very good and eye opening or at the least a fun read if you all decided to use those sorts of elements in a piece of writing someday! :D

That's all, not that corruption of any kind should be excused at all. I'm not to big on Care Bears but I do like MASK though if we are talking about 80s cartoons that were made to sell toys.

And considering my own personal life experiences with alcoholism I'd have to say I've never told an alcoholic that there addiction was okay.:) So that's probably not the best analogy to use against me. I mean perhaps I could of worded my posts better but I find it best when I don't ramble on for a long time.

And yeah MASK really kicked ass.

    Oh dear.

    I just noticed this.

I'm very very sorry this happened to you :( Now that just isn't right and hope you get it all settled. High anxiety is a pretty horrible and that situation in question is terrible for it. So I hope you're okay and you get everything sorted out and the officer in question is punished.

    Very very sorry.

Really hope it is all worked out....

TX law is hardcore. Years ago I was involved in some environmental chain-yourself-to-things stuff and the lawyer at the training explained to us how any of us who wanted to risk arrest may face felony charges which would make it illegal to leave the state for 1 year, and put us on probation for several years. Same action in sunny CA is a slap on the wrist in comparison. What happens when you go head to head with TransCanada/Exxon/etc. Totally off topic but I blame the thread (THE SYSTEM) not myself. boom

If I may temporarily drag this thread back to its roots, while I have no experience with this particular forum software, I have used several other forum programs and know generally how these things work, and it's incomprehensible to me that:

    a) The forums in question haven't been restored in total

    b) The forums in question, their data lost in a database disaster, haven't been re-created and started from scratch

    c) The forum proprietor(s) haven't explained to the loyal members here what exactly happened and what's being done to resolve it

Interview went great!! Though I wouldn't really call it an "interview." More of a... discussion. She didn't ask me any questions that are typical for an interview ("Explain a time when...."), but instead discussed my previous employment with Petco. She made a lot of hints that I'll be getting a call back next week, with an offer for a position that is a level higher than I applied for.

And now I realize why I was nervous going in.. I really want this job. lol So I was afraid I'd screw up the interview, which I didn't, and risk not getting it. So hopefully I'll get a job offer by this time next week. Then store set-up (it's a new store) will start at the end of the month. And that'll be super fun.

    I'm ready!

I dreamed about the forum last night. Every time I posted, people were critiquing me. I was getting really annoyed and made a pompous thread about how critique is only appropriate in the Workshop.

No. :p Just a sales associate because I just wanted something to do. But the position I'm likely going to get is a step above that but below department manager. I had that same position before, but it was essentially just a fancy title with no addition responsibility. She told me that's different now. The position is a bigger deal than it was a couple years ago. So I'd basically be next in line for management.

I know, not nearly as exciting as I made it seem in my first post. lol

Everyone needs to watch "The Mask You Live In." It's a documentary on Netflix about men being told from a young age that it's not okay to be "feminine" or show emotions. It's making me really sad. :(

Well since so many people are sharing sad stories...

I was once again diagnosed with C-diff. It's a highly contagious bacterial intestinal disorder. It's basically when bad bacteria take over in your colon and then it causes your body to make all kinds of gas and toxins to the point it eats at your colon and makes you fill with gas to the point you feel like you are going to blow up. It also causes severe nausea and diarrhea. Usually... and I say usually... people who are on antibiotics or who have an immunodeficiency disorder are the ones that get it. Yet this is the 5th time in the last year and a half to two years, that I've gotten it. My doctor did a full blood work, urine test, and fecal test... and basically told me that everything is fine EXCEPT I do have C-diff. So her reasoning? Well she basically told me that my colon must have a problem keeping good bacteria, so I will have to permanently take a probiotic and basically turn into a germa-phobe. So that means purell all the time and be as careful as possible anytime I'm handling things other people touch. Well that sounds great and all (not really), but I work part time in a store stocking shelves and I'm constantly touching things other people touched. Not to mention when I've had to clean the public restroom where people have (Warning: Something disgusting about to come) have wiped their butts with paper towels and thrown them in the garbage or on the floor... or worse yet, and I'm not kidding, have pooped ON THE FLOOR.

Well I missed work three days this week, which also happened to be during inventory and now all the management hates me. I took them a doctor's note but that doesn't really matter to them. Now on top of that, my doctor's office wants me to talk to management about the practices in the store regarding cleaning in the restroom and how they do not provide us with disposable gloves and disinfectant. Well I might have a lot of extra time on my hands this summer.

Anyway, that sounds interesting. I would be terrible at doing that myself. Damn narrow-minded people.

    Fixed. :p
Eesh! That sounds terrible. How long does it take to clear up? I'd get a second opinion about it just being a problem keeping good bacteria if I were you. Having it so much in such a short amount of time would be worrisome for me.

Well I started feeling sick Saturday night, then it got worse Sunday, and then Monday before I finally went to the doctor Tuesday. It is so hard to explain how you feel. I mean it literally feels like your gut is going to explode. You can feel the pressure of your colon pushing up into your chest making it hard to breath, and you feel incredibly nauseous. Now let me point out, a lot of people actually get this, but it isn't always as bad as it is for others. Some people might just get diarrhea and feel a little gassy... but I get the worst end of the stick with it. The first time I had it, I literally thought I was having a heart attack and called an ambulance. I'm feeling better today, though I still have diarrhea.

Um... men and women are paid equally. The wage gap is actually an earnings gap. When you account for all the necessary variables, such as experience, hours worked, education, location, occupation, etc. The wage gap basically disappears. Economists have kind of shown that the wage gap is a myth... repeatedly. Plus, if companies could somehow get away with paying women 23% less than they could pay with men, then we'd have a work force primarily composed of female workers because of how much that would save them in the long run.

It is definitely very debatable. To be honest I don't know. Both sides on that issue have loads of papers to refer to. It's not clear which one is right.

Oscar, even some feminists have finally gave up on beating the "Women are only getting paid 77 cents compared to every dollar men make" drum. Now they say that the reason that women earn less annually is because... you guessed it, PATRIARCHY! Yaaaay. Keepin' women down since forever and obviously it can't be because maybe men and women make different decisions. Like for instance men, who make up 94% of workplace deaths, mind you, tend to take those dangerous jobs that are likely to get you killed but pay you a lot in compensation for such things, or that it's shown that men tend to take on jobs that require them to work 50+ hours a week, which, also tend to pay more, forgot the term for these kinds of jobs. It's also shown that generally men work longer hours than women. Also, women tend to go for the kinds of degrees that make less money, like, say for instance... a degree in gender studies.

He/she is right. This is required by worker safety law in all states.
