A few years ago, I would read at least one novel every week. Now, I've been reading the same two novels for a month. I guess it really has a lot to do with how much time I have on my hands.
Less than I`d like, I read slow, I can read quickly and retain enough to rattle off if need be but I prefer to read slow to both retain all of it and to actually enjoy it. Re reading slows me down, not just re-reading books (which I do) but if I haven`t worked on a book in a bit or if I didn`t understand something last chapter I`ll flip back a few pages and read it. Not slicing through books like a book ninja that way. I read all sorts of stuff, currently, it`s a nonfiction by a former case officer in the CIA about integrating a terror suspect and such interesting read. I read a lot of fiction, lot of spelctuive fiction and YA (I am 18, kinda the demographic there). They range from fantasy to sci-fi and such. I`m also an avid Mark Twain and Dickens fan, but you can blame the old Twain books mother kept and an English teacher who gave me a copy of David Copperfeild for that. I have what I refer to as my life library from Looking for Alaska. I tend to accumulate books faster than I can read them so I havestoriess of unread books I need to get around to.
I read about one book average a week. I have made myself explore new genres, mine being sci/fi. I have had a hard time with young adult. When I was young, I read King and Koontz. These poor kids get garbage. I think parents buy these books that their kids never read. They are so bad. I try to write between 5-8k words a week, some weeks good, some bad. In work, I read betas sometimes. And I probably read at least 20-30k words on this forum five days a week. Great stuff here. My TV time is down considerably and I don't miss it. Game of Thrones and Fear the walking dead are about it now for me.
