Hi! I'm JoetheLion, and I've joined up to get a little extra input on my current and future writing projects. I'm an antiques and vintage dealer by trade, and I'm just about to start the second draft of my first novel, an offbeat crime caper/romance, which started life as a forum RPG I did with a very dear friend of mine nearly ten years ago. We put so much more than was needed into the character development and plot that I couldn't just let it go, it niggled away at the back of my brain for years, and finally, with my friend's enthusiastic encouragement, I started putting it 'on paper' last winter. I hope this will be the first of many. I love research, and my trade gives me an insight on certain topics that I hope others will find useful, especially social, art, and design history, so feel free to pick my brains.
Hey Joe, where you goin' with... Sorry Welcome to the site. Congrats on getting started on the process of writing your story down. Best of luck with it!
I will have to find my 10 sided die, and roll to see whether my brain picking tools will to the job or not. Welcome to the madhouse, I am sure the inmates and staff will greet you warmly as you traverse the halls of this fine establishment. (You can try to pull the broom out of the closet if you want to be king). Well I must go, today is the day we get to beat each other with foam bats. That is how you know it is Wednesday.
Hello Joe, have you read The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt? If so I'd be interested on your take on the authenticity of the writing she did around the subject of antique restoration.
I have two MCs, and one is a high-end jeweller. I do actually specialise in jewellery myself, but mainly costume and silver. The other is an aspiring escapologist and hobbyist thief.
Yeah, I love it, though I'm not at my MC's market level, unfortunately. I mainly sell diamanté, diamonds not so much.
