If it makes it any better, all the crimes will have human motivations.

I''m kind of interested in trying role-play, I've been toying with the idea for a long time. When would you be starting your new thread @halisme? And as someone who does a lot of role-play, what tips would you have? on what's like and what to do?

@Oscar Leigh You can also start by reading some of the stuff that's already out there while you wait. I'm still comparatively new to the whole thing as well, but I've played in a few RPs here and there and you really just learn what you need as you go. I still remember my first post in an actually active RP (Pirates), it immediately taught me several different lessons about writing in general :p

In the end, as long as you read the rules of that specific RP and communicate with the other players and the GM there's not that much that can go wrong. I find it a really fun experience and all the RPs I've been in on this site have been awesome and the other members are great.

What makes it most fun for me, apart from the lessons you learn from it, is that it's like you are reading a story, only when you poke a character, he or she pokes back. There's some really talented writers here and it's really fun to work with them like this. :D

The 1910s fantasy. I've got some of the gangs sorted out but am working on writing it up. I'm thinking about splitting it "episodes", with one or two per plot. I've got some of those worked out as well.

Oh, I haven't played that. XD I've been working through some old games on my Steam, I've been recording them and posting the gameplay and commentary on YouTube. ^^" I used to only do livestreams, but they usually take around 1-4 hours, so it isn't really "Watch it later" material, I mean, who wants to sit down and watch 4 hours of gameplay and some asshole yell? XD

I watch one two and a half hour podcast and two one hour podcasts each week. Any content can find an audience.

I'd recommend it. It's quite difficult to get the hang of depending on your faction. I'm currently purging the dwarfs off the face of the map.

    (Un)Retired Superheroes

    THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

For over a decade, a team of young heroes called the League of Heroes has protected Fortress City and the entire planet from the forces of evil. With their leader, Strong-Arm, and his second-in-command, Silhouette, they have taken down any and every villain that dared to cause trouble on their watch. They were seemingly impossible to beat, saving the earth from meteors, alien invasion, even a highly advanced race of subterranean humanoids that made a bid for world domination. One by one, they all fell under the might and cunning of the League of Heroes.

But the impossible has happened: the League of Heroes has been destroyed. On Monday, there was a huge explosion at the Stronghold, the League's headquarters in the middle of Fortress City. A ferocious battle seemed to be raging inside, but in less than thirty minutes all went quiet. The police and the ambulance arrived on the scene much too late, finding the mangled bodies of their beloved heroes among the wreckage of the Stronghold. The mayor made an announcement on the news that the League was no more and a public funeral was arranged. Thousands of people flooded the graveyard and the surrounding streets to pay homage to the fallen heroes and a pall of depression fell over the once vibrant, bustling city.

    A RAY OF HOPE
The only ray of hope in the aftermath of such a horrific event is that one heroine's body was not found along with the rest of the League of Heroes: the body of Silhouette. Silhouette is an extremely skilled fighter, trained by an ancient master of Kung Fu, capable of taking down a dozen men with just her bare hands. She has a dislike for guns, preferring to use her hands and her surroundings to defeat criminals, but will use a gun if absolutely necessary. Her name, Silhouette, comes from the fact that she is as quick and stealthy as a shadow, and when she sneaks into the territory of foreign enemies, all they see of her when she leaves is her distant silhouette as she makes an escape.

But some people believe that just because her body is missing, doesn't mean she's alive. It could be that she was completely obliterated in the explosion and that there was no trace left of her to find. Still, more hopeful individuals chose to believe that she somehow got away, that she was probably hurt during the battle and that she is in hiding, recuperating until she is well again. However, as time goes by, this theory seems less and less likely, as Silhouette has yet to reappear.

    THE MYSTERY KILLER
No one knows what or who is responsible for killing the heroes and destroying their headquarters. The newspapers have dubbed the culprit the 'Mystery Killer' and everyone is looking out for whoever might be responsible. If it was a known supervillain, no doubt he or she would have stepped forward and bragged publicly, but no one has done so. The silence is almost more terrifying than if a spandex-clad psychopath had flown over the city shouting that he had murdered the entire League in one fell swoop. And as time passes, the suspense and horror only builds.

Unanswered questions swirl through the minds of concerned citizens: Who is responsible? Where are they? What powers do they possess? And what do they have planned for the rest of Fortress City?

    THE BEGINNING OF OUR STORY
You are a retired superhero. At one time you patrolled the streets, protecting the innocent and striking terror into the hearts of villains, but for whatever reason, you gave it all up and you are currently retired. It could be that you lost hope or that you simply got too old, but you have watched with pride and joy as the League of Heroes was formed and kept a vigilant watch on Fortress City and beyond. But now the League is gone, brutally murdered. You watched firefighters digging through the smoking carcass of the Stronghold on the news, watched them find the corpses of the young heroes, and watched the massive parade of civilians crowd the streets as they made their way to the public funeral the very next day.

Just three days after the incident, an email was sent to each of your computers:

'MEET ME AT THE RUINS OF THE STRONGHOLD AT MIDNIGHT. IT IS TIME TO TAKE UP YOUR CAPES AGAIN. EVIL WILL NOT WIN.

    -S'

You are impassioned by the email and decide to accept the call to arms. Our story begins as you get ready to head to the Stronghold and begin hunting down the Mystery Killer. Send your Character Templates to the GM (me) for approval before you make your first post.

    GAMEPLAY/RULES

When creating your character, please be mindful that their powers must relate to each other. For example, if you can summon fireballs it wouldn't make since that you can also breath ice. If you have a fire power, your other powers must also be fire-related. You are allowed to have up to three powers and one weapon. Also, be very specific when describing your powers. If you're super strong, just how strong are you? If you're super fast, are you faster than a speeding bullet or just faster than a normal person? What are the limitations of your powers? Can you only use them under special conditions? That kind of junk. (You can have a non-powered superhero if you wish: non-powered heroes can have up to four weapons/equpiment. List all of them and what they can do in your template.)

Make your superhero realistic. You can't be good at everything. In the skills category, make sure to include anything other than powers that your hero can do: hot-wire a car, kick-boxing, computer hacking, etc etc. Halfway through the story, you can't suddenly reveal your hero is a black belt in karate or can fly a helicopter if it is not included in your template. Follow these guidelines and you should be fine. Once approved, create your first post and get ready to kick some ass.

    SUPERHERO CATEGORIES
These are the categories that the League of Heroes use to classify heroes. Your hero must fall into one of them:

Superhuman - A regular human with extraordinary skills, such as extreme fighting prowess or a genius-level IQ.

Enhanced - A regular human who obtained super powers through a scientific experiment.

Mutant - A human who was born with the mutant gene, passed down from one or both of their parents.

Mystic - A human who can control magical forces. Some mystics have a natural talent for using magic, while others have to train and study for years to learn to use it. (If you choose a mystic, instead of listing three powers list three spells that you can use. Detail exactly what the spells can do.)

Divinity - A being from another dimension that was once worshiped as a god by early humans. Any god/goddess from mythology falls into this category. Usually Divinities only come to earth during times of great need, but some choose to live on this dimension to protect humanity.

    TEMPLATE (EXAMPLE)
    REAL NAME/ALIAS:
John Snow Knows Nothing, aka The Prince of Promise
    AGE (30 & up):
    32
    GENDER:
    Male
    CATEGORY:
    Mutant
    POWERS:
    1) Freezing Touch - The ability to freeze objects with his touch. The bigger the object, the longer it takes to freeze, and the longer he holds it the thicker the ice that covers it.
    2) Ice Conjuring - The ability to create almost any weapon out of ice. The larger and more complicated the weapon, the longer it takes to form.
    3) Blizzard - The ability to create a blizzard in an area of five feet around his body. The temperature within the blizzard is -12° Celsius (10 Fahrenheit). When he creates the blizzard, it blasts back anyone standing too close and anything that tries to penetrate it will be blown away by fierce winds. He can only hold the blizzard for up to three minutes.
    SKILLS:
Sword-fighting, horse-riding, fairly good at hand-to-hand combat, military strategist, getting in trouble.
    APPEARANCE:
John Snow is hella good-looking, with curly raven hair, wide shoulders, pale skin, a slim, fit body, and the saddest brown eyes you ever did see. He likes to wear a huge wolf pelt that weighs him down and is not very fashionable.
    WEAPON/S (If any):
Just the ones he can conjure with ice.
    OTHER:
John Snow has a pet Dire Wolf named Ghost, but there's no telling where it is half the time.

    PETER PAN AND WENDY RPG

(book-based, but AU - nothing to do with Disney)

~ FOR AN ADVANCED WRITER ~

WANTED: Grown-up Wendy to raise Peter Pan!

Searching for a player for Wendy while I play Peter Pan, and this RPG is just for the two of us. We'll be writing on our own board which I have founded on the IcyBoards forum host. Whenever we want to RP/write a story without the other's character in it we could post into the Solo RP forum I have there or with the other writing one/some of the canon/side character NPCs. And if you want, we could also create OCs to interract with Peter and Wendy and/or each other - but the focus would be on Peter and Wendy and their relationship.

The bond between Peter and Wendy in canon is exceptional and immensely strong, what with Wendy being the only one who still remembered all about him even after many decades of separation and Peter still remembered her even though forgot about everyone and everything else. I want to explore Peter Pan and Wendy's relationship and bond's psychology and strength in a storyline where the grown-up Wendy actually legally adopts him and becomes his mum. I'd like to explore and develop this mother-son relationship in everyday life scenarios. Peter will never return to Neverland. Of course we could have him and Wendy visit it together some time, for old times' sake. I do have a detailed and strong vision of Wendy as a mum as well as her and Pater's relationship & I had to decide a couple of things about Wendy's adult life in those terms - but there is still a lot for us to create together, and of course the other aspects of Wendy's personality and history that are just for you to vision.

---> There's no set end to the game, so I wish for a player who's willing and able to keep on RPing this actively for years to come. And I need you to be at least 18 years old. I am in my 30s.

HOW IS THIS GAME AU SEEING TO THE BOOK?

In many ways. Reading the book is not necessary or really even useful, as this game is AU and much more realistic world and I have detailed and well-covering visions of just about anything you could possible need to know about the universe. Read a short summary about it here.

    BACKGROUNDS & THE PLOT

My Peter Pan ran away and entered Neverland at age 8 (a day before his 9th birthday), in 1987 - and a 12-year old (going on 13, turned 13 in Neverland) Wendy and her little brothers met him and left to Neverland in 2007, returning home a bit over a year later in 2008. Like in the book Wendy had a crush on Peter. Although here Wendy and Peter had a nearly 4 year age difference, this was a delightfully strange and charming boy and she was only 12 - that is a crush would be a childish type. And like in the book, Peter only saw her as a mother-figure, remaining completely oblivious to anybody's romantic feelings. Wendy wanted to leave simply because she grew extremely concerned about how much they began to forget about their parents. As in, Peter did not tell his story to anybody.

The Lost Boys (then aged from 8 to 10) were adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Darling as they are in the original story. The Darling family is rich or at least very wealthy - I have set their house in Ealing, London, which is an upper class / upper middle-class area. The boys were home schooled, as they couldn't possibly start in a state school with the memory loss and psychological damage they had. But Peter wasn't ready to grow up, having significantly worse and longer-standing psychological situation than the other boys did. Peter visited them occasionally for about a year until started to take new boys into Neverland to be his new gang and have new adventures with. They, and Neverland's confusing all-four-seasons-in-one-day & timeless existence carried him away and he didn't visit for the next seven and a half years. Hook didn't die at the end of Wendy and co.'s adventures so he's still there obsessing over brutally murdering Peter...

In November 2016 Peter finally gives into the feeling that his year with Wendy in Neverland stirred in him; curiosity and desire to experience real life. As well as finally grows completely tired of the cold, hard life in Neverland. As it is not like Disney portrays it, instead it is a brutal and primitive set of islands where little boys while can have grand adventures and fun are constantly fighting for their lives without adults to supervise or care for them. Although the indians of the main island had become his friends and allies after the rescuing of princess Tiger Lily during Wendy's year there...There still remained all the wild beasts and captain Hook and other pirates.

Now, this is the point from which I'd like to start playing out plots. (Although I'd be glad to play out any useful plots set to the past, too. But first and foremost from this point on.) Wendy needs a player, all other characters could be NPCs controlled by the both of us.

Peter, uncertain if he can make it, gives up the leadership to one of his gang's members and states that if he should ever return he'd take the leadership back. Then he returns to London, thinking he's been away merely a few months. He expects to find still 14-year old Wendy and his old gang as kids...But instead finds Wendy a 22-year old young woman and the Lost Boys as teenagers - while he himself still is the same barely 9-year old little boy...

Peter, having lived by his own rules for nearly 30 years and most of it as a leader, isn't ready to just jump into a full-blown normal life - especially as he has lots of emotional and psychological scars. Plus, the shock of everyone having grown up so much...He chooses to stay on the streets instead. But it's not easy to be a street child in a modern day city, especially when you don't remember most of even the simplest and mundane of things (ie. by the original story's time Peter and the boys had forgot what a kiss is.) As well as forgotten how to read and write. Regardless of his mistrust towards adults...a little boy with a terrible severe case of memory loss, hot temper and psychological damage - would quickly end up dead or worse running around in a city all by himself.

Wendy's feelings had through the years spent apart, grown from a crush into stronger love - though changed from romantic to more neutral love and eventually into purely motherly love - as she matured further while remembering Peter as a little boy. Now as a young adult, loves Peter purely in a motherly way. After all she was an immensely motherly personality already as a little girl as well as mature beyond her years, so she most certainly is now. (In the book, even though she had romantic feelings towards Peter, she also acted truly motherly towards him - in example; any time Peter was crying in his sleep Wendy would take him out of bed, sit with him on her lap and comfort him like a child until he grew calmer. And then put him back to bed before he woke. She gave him "medicine" the same as to the other boys whom they pretended to be her children, and tended to any of his medical needs.)

She manages to talk Peter into living in the Darling house's guest room, as in Peter spends about one day out on the streets before she finds him again. She begins to teach him how to live in a house and about this world in general, and teaches him to read and write, and all that stuff. It needs to be Wendy as even though she's a grown-up now she is the only person Peter trusts in this new and scary world.

Peter lives with them, and Wendy with her parents ponder seriously and hard about what to do with him. There isn't much time as it's not good for Peter to remain in uncertainty and in a life where no one has any authority over him. They push things towards official matters as they need to get Peter a new identity and he'll offiicially need at least one parent.

In the end the decision is clear and easy:

The worst thing for Peter would be to live in an orphanage or with some stranger adult. The only option that feels right to them is adopting the boy into their own family. But Mr. and Mrs. Darling have their hands full with raising teenage boys and Peter doesn't trust them anyway as he doesn't trust 99% of adults, while they are not entirely aware of where and how and for how long Peter has lived. When they adopted the Lost Boys they had to be told a more realistic feeling version of Neverland in order for it to make sense to them.

But Wendy on her behalf knows Peter the best, and already feels motherly love for him.

She has a job already - and takes some maternity/adoption leave and/or starts working part-time. What that job is would be totally up to you, as it may relate to her personality outside motherly stuff. Thus, she has the time and means to care for even a troubled child. She understands the sacrifice she's making at such a young age and how tough it will be to raise a child of Peter's background and personality, but she also knows that no one else can give this boy a better chance in life or love him more than she does.

So for every possible reason she wants to become Peter's adoptive mother, legally and for good. But generally in life they don't pay mind to the term "adoptive" but just introduce themselves as a mother and son; Peter has always seen Wendy as a mother-figure so calling her mum/mummy comes very natural to him all along, and Wendy gets used to calling him her son quite quickly too what with feeling like a mother towards him and genuinely wanting it, having lost any romantic feelings for him long ago. If she looks her age people are likely to automatically conclude that the boy is adopted or that she's older and just looks young.

First they live with Wendy's parents and the boys for a while until Wendy feels she's ready to take Peter and move into her own house.

Raising Peter indeed isn't easy for her as the boy is psychologically tortured and damaged as well as a brat, as in a very demanding child - and living with a child, the responsibility to make sure the child stays safe and is always put first, affects a parent's romance/love life in many ways. But she can pull it off: she loves Peter as a mother so being considerate and making sacrifices in her love life isn't that much of a problem for her, she has grown up with six other (though less) psychologically damaged boys which have forced her to grow up quicker than most other girls need to and given her quite a strong understanding of such issues...And she has her own parents there for support. Also, as Peter is only a little child still - he is far more easily fixable than if he'd be a teenager. Especially as he's not utterly a brat, just very often. That is he can be very sweet, and Wendy does enjoy some respect from him even to begin with. He'll also at some point tell Wendy his story, about what happened with his mother and father all those years ago which will also help Wendy to further understand his issues.

In addition to guidance and teaching, Peter needs lots of physical affection combined with mental/spiritual that of, in his everyday life. In order to recover from nearly 30 years of cold, hard, insecure life and his emotional wound caused by his biological mother and father forgetting all about him and replacing him with another child.

As much as Peter always wanted a mother - I imagine that after all those decades of total freedom and brutal survival battles it was much more about that warm and gentle aspect of a mother's love than about anything else. That he'll have significant trouble in agreeing to being controlled: the rules, limits, the need to do as he is told, and all the permission asking and how whenever spending time outside of home the parent has to always know where he is, with whom, and doing what. Which in addition to giving all that genrleness and warmth, Wendy as a responsible and loving mother does lay down and demand of him. Especially in today's world where predators and dangers lurk everywhere for any child, not to mention for someone as new, curious and reckless as Peter. At first there probably won't be too much of a problem with those matters, but once Peter gets to know this world a bit and really wanting back his freedom of choice - surely not liking the very limited/small amount of that that a typical well-cared for 9-year old has.

So, as Peter's basic personality is what it is (see my bio for him) and all those Neverland years turned him into even more of a spirited anti-authority child, in addition to parental control in general also corporal disciplining is needed. Wendy believes in spanking as an effective disciplining method for children and uses it, but not as the only method or constantly going for it. (Corporal disciplining of children at home is still common in Britain and for the most part supported by the general public. That is they have not joined in in the ban/prohibition trend a lot of the world has.)

Though in Peter's case she could not use implements of any kind, if wishing to have the desired result without negative impact. Appropriately, for a good reason and with love given parental corporal punishment (ie. pulling by the ear, or even a severe open-hand spanking on bare buttocks - as long as it's not bruising) is entirely and fundamentally different from what happens in Neverland where violence has nothing to do with love or discipline but is all about survival as well as is practically different type.

Which is why I view that a parental spanking and other milder corporal punishments would not harm a child like Peter Pan but on the contrary could help him in many ways. For one, to see/remember that not all pain and tears are of evil, and that there's a fine line between abuse and parental discipline. Which is an important part of understanding life and the world. Yet such intimate and intense discipline should only come from a child's legal parent and in Peter's case from a person he completely trusts - which in both terms is Wendy.

As extra unpleasant as the control and discipline is to Peter who's not used to it, he of course will get used to it and begin to notice how all of it at the same time provides feeling of security. Combines to the feeling of comfort that all the warm and gentle parts of a mother's love gives, completing the relationship he desired for so long and helps him find his place and footing in this world.

That is, I view that - even as troubled, demanding and challenging as Peter is and Wendy can't be a perfect parent but is bound to make some mistakes - their relationship will become very rewarding/giving for both of them and their bond only, if even possible, to grow stronger.

According to all of the above, I'd like to explore and develop this mother-son relationship in everyday life scenarios - and, as said, perhaps have Peter and Wendy some time revisit Neverland together.

    CHARACTER BIOS

I have written a very in-depth and detailed bio for my Peter Pan. You're free to write your own bio for your Wendy but of course taking note of what I've written above and in Peter's bio. As for her looks...I wish you'd use a celebrity play-by for her - as I am a very visual person and have difficulties imagening a person's outside appearance based on just text or a drawing. (Unless that drawing was extremely realistic.)

You could choose the play-by but she should have the following basic features:
    * Caucasian. (I have nothing against other races in itself but the Darlings aren't mentioned to be any other race so they've lived in my mind as Caucasians for nearly thirty years.)
    * A motherly, gentle but also firm/strong being.
    * She's also described to be a tall woman - so surely over 170 cm, likely pushing 180 cm.
    - If you want, I'll help you in the play-by hunt after you've told me what you'd be looking for in her. Of course the height could be reconsidered if need be.

    RULES

    Activity:

On average, I post 2-3 times a week. I can sometimes post once or twice a day if my writing partner is that active and if the current situation happens to be that inspiring. And as I have three full-blown RPGs to maintain quality adminning and gaming in, there may be a few weeks periods when I can only post once a week. Sometimes, though even more rarely I may take 2-3 weeks to reply (in which case it might also be because I need to give extra much thought to what I want to write.) But on average I indeed post a few times a week. If I know in advance that I'll be away for 2+ weeks, or if I'm ill or something, I'll let you know so you won't be waiting in vain. If you're gone for a month without a notification I'll send you a friendly e-mail, asking what's up. I'll of course wish for and expect similar activity preference and throughtfulness from my writing partner.
My policy is quality over quantity. Yet I do aim at reasonable activity.

    Posting:

We'd be gaming in the third-person.
My average post is 200-700 words, but quite often I may get inspired to produce 1000+ words.
I'm a very passionate writer - I don't hurry from a situation to the next, I love to take it slow and dig into my characters' heads and the situation itself when I write about them. That is not to say I constantly write really in-depth - of course I don't, or that I'd never do a time-skip - of course I do...Just, I don't want to needlessly hurry. Also, I love to pre-plan a game event's basic plot to some extent before starting it and even during it if need rises. To me, it's quality over quantity. I need a writing partner with similar passion and preference in those terms.

    Rating:

I'm comfortable with any rating but I prefer 15+ with the freedom to cross over to 18+ any time I may feel like it. So I'm perfectly fine with graphic language, violence, drug-use, sex, etc. I mean, generally speaking. (The relationship between Peter and Wendy is to be perfectly healthy mother-son relationship.)

    God-modding:

We can't control each other's character as if he/she was our own; can't decide his/her words, thoughts, emotions or reactions. And we can't move him/her around like our own, our character has to touch the other character accordingly in order to move them anywhere.

Our own character can touch the other player's character almost in any way - even hurt him/her, without needing permission from the player. For the sake of realistic and natural flow. The restrictions are; can't kill or cause permanent damage without permission. If the character's player asks to, any god-modding has to be removed.

Here's my proposal for an RP:

    LIBRIS:
Once upon a time, we had to kick some butt.
Stories are meant to help us understand our world. Unfortunately, the stories understand us too well. Stories are alive. They're causal parasites, pseudo-intelligent patterns of events, looking for a place to happen. Most are harmless, like the shopping cart with the squeaky wheel you always seem to get, or the glasses you can't find because they're sitting on your head. Strange little events that happen, give color to the mundane, and are over, before repeating with someone else. Other stories, though, shouldn't happen to anyone.
Enter LIBRIS: the Literary Incursion Bureau of Research, Investigation, and Security. We protect humanity from becoming a series of stories. Sure, most have happy endings, but how many grandmothers have to be eaten, orphan girls abused, kingdoms cursed to sleep for a century, before Happily Ever After? And that's assuming reality doesn't get in the way. People can't sleep for a century. They die, long before that.
    Fairy tales are serious business.

Who We Are and What We Do
LIBRIS monitors the world, watching for signs of Literary Incursions. Some agents are normal people, nowhere on the Memetic Spectrum, but aware of its existence, typically because their lives have been touched by the Narrative without it consuming them. Others are Memetic Events--story characters, using what the Narrative gave them save mankind. Contrary to common assumption, not all of our ME members are "hero" characters. Clever Foxes, Shoemaker's Elves, Red Riding Hoods, even Sea Witches have joined the fight against the Narrative.
LIBRIS needs good agents to ensure a Happily Ever After for everyone. Do you have what it takes?

    The Enchanted Kingdom?
This game is set in a fictionalized version of contemporary Saint Louis, Missouri. It will center around LIBRIS field agents trying to save people from the ravages of the Narrative, either by averting Literary Incursions or guiding them to a happy ending.

    The Index and Classifications
Literary Incursions and Memetic Events are classified by LIBRIS using the Aarne-Thompson Index. Stories follow patterns, most of which have been catalogued in the Index, though more and more variations have been appearing lately, even with new Tale Types occurring. For instance, ATI Tale Type 410 is Sleeping Beauty, a particularly dangerous story, while ATI Tale Type 130 (Bremen-Town Musicians) is relatively innocuous.
Unfortunately, the Index is incomplete. Works considered to be fairy tales, such as The Little Mermaid or the Wizard of Oz, were not included on the original Index, since they were original works, not born of oral tradition. The upside is that they are new enough that, as their presence in the collective unconsciousness of humanity causes them to become part of the Narrative, their source material can be readily called upon to handle Literary Incursions.
Memetic Events, the people made into characters of these stories, are classified not only by their ATI Tale Type, but by the depth of their immersion into the Narrative. This immersion ranges from Level 0, not on the spectrum at all (sometimes called NPCs or Townsfolk), to Level 5, someone who has fully embraced their role in the story, and has a greater effect on reality. Of course, diving into that role not only gives them greater magical power, but strips them of their ability to act outside their role. Some manage to straddle the line between real human being and fictional archetype, but it's tough, and there's always a choice to be made.

    Character Creation
Whether you decide to play as a field agent or support staff, rooky or veteran, ME or normal Joe, PM me your character sheet for approval, and we can get things started. If you do happen to play an ME character, remember to indicate the Immersion Level, your story, and your role in the story. MEs will have special traits and abilities in line with their role in their story, the strength of their abilities proportionate to their Immersion Level. For instance, a Level 1 Snow White will be pale, beautiful, and well-liked, while a Level 4 can command woodland creatures with her singing.
I know there will be a lot of temptation to play characters with a lot of magical power, like the Wicked Witch, the Genie of the Lamp or Saint George's Dragon. But to access that magical power would mean your character is sacrificing their personal identity, becoming their story role. And the power also comes with the weaknesses and limitations of the role: the oven door, imprisonment and servitude, death at the hands of someone named George.
Likewise, playing a Level 0--someone not on the spectrum at all--may not seem all that appealing. However, Level 0s don't have to worry about the Narrative trying to turn them into someone or something else. They won't be compelled to touch the spindle of a spinning wheel, to build a house out of straw, or to ambush people just trying to cross a bridge.
Some of the more common ME types:
*Snow White - pale, beautiful, affinity with woodland creatures, often hated by other women, unable to resist apples, very vulnerable to poison
*Cinderella - hardworking, driven, affinity with mice and birds, likely to receive mysterious help, subject to emotional or physical abuse from family
*Pied Piper - can manipulate living things--particularly pests--with music, will become vengeful if denied what is promised.
*Shoemaker's Elf - meticulous, uncannily organized, can quickly accomplish almost any task if unobserved, obsessed with shoes
*Sleeping Beauty - beautiful, beloved, immensely skilled at whatever field they are passionate about, a time-bomb waiting to go off and take down everyone else with them
*Goldilocks - will always find shelter if lost, can bypass locked doors, can always find what is just right, plagued by bears
*Prince Charming - handsome and charismatic, a knack for breaking curses and pushing others into stories, can dazzle with their smile
*Bad Wolf - animalistic, with heightened senses and physical faculties, and hungers which are hard to ignore.
Keep in mind that though the Narrative is far more likely to adhere to traditional gender roles, there are rare divergences.

    Example Character

    NAME: Jacob Craft
    AGE: 35
    SEX: male
    CHARACTER TYPE: Pied Piper
    LEVEL: 4
ABILITIES: Can manipulate living things with his music; pests, vermin and children are especially vulnerable.
PHYSICAL: good-looking, a bit taller than average, athletic build, neat dark hair, green eyes, charming smile, nimble fingers
SKILLS: a gifted musician able to play a number of instruments, and a lovely singing voice. Trained by LIBRIS in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, and investigation.
FLAWS: if prevented from singing or playing, he cannot access his power. If denied what he feels he is owed, he could become dangerously vengeful.
OTHER: a lucky find for the Narrative, and for LIBRIS. He'd never shown any interest in music until his twelfth birthday, when he picked up a violin and managed to play a tune so lovely passersby stopped to listen. With this new discovery, he began studying and pursuing music in earnest. People always stopped to listen to him, and even animals gathered nearby. Aware of his abilities, LIBRIS convinced him to use his music to save a community from a plague. Knowing that in activating him as a Level 4, LIBRIS had changed his life, and they repaid him by paying for his education. Eventually, though, he made his own decision to continue working with LIBRIS to protect people from predatory stories.

I have a few possible plots lined up, but each would depend on what sort of characters are submitted.

    The Story
For millennia the Celtic Gods have lived in peace and harmony in the heavens above Earth. The gods looked over Earth's people and animals. They have started wars, which nearly tore apart humanity. They cast draughts upon the world, they starved its people. Yet, they had humans farm crops grow into abundance, they prevented wars, changed the course of humanity. They are the gods. And while sometimes they did bad deeds, they also countered it with good. They have the ability to cast spells, forge illusions, lift plauges. At at the center are the Three Gods. Dadga, God of Earth was captured, as well as Danu, the Goddess of Creation, and Don, Queen of the Heavens.

    Your Mission.
You are a Celtic god or warrior. 18 Days after the Three Gods have disappeared a talisman appears in your hand. A small word has been etched into the talisman.
    Gwydion
You realize it is from the goddess Gwydion, and suddenly the talisman floats out of your hands and to the Cliffs of Moher. It takes you exactly two days to get to the Cliffs of Moher, so start your story with receiving the talisman, your journey, and arriving at the Cliffs of Moher, at Mid-Day, on the 20th Day of the Three Gods disappearance. You have heard rumor of a clue, leading to the gods disappearance on the Cliffs of Moher and now you will find out if this is true.
(We will use real locations from Ireland and Wales)
Be sure to start your story from when you got Gwydion's talisman.

    Characters

PM me and tell me which god you would like, (list is down below), to have. I will give you your template for the god. You can edit the appearance but not the powers. And also PM me your humans template and I will look over it and see if its OK for the Discussion.

Please no God-Modding. I MUST approve all templates before they are posted in the discussion thread. Also, no controlling others Characters unless you have discussed it over with the other person. I may let some people make another character and such, but you must EARN this privilege. So it's been a while since I've ever tried a group rp. However I want to give it a go again and i'm just hoping people would like the idea i've written. If not well I tried :p

    The Three Stories
There are three factions to this story. Police, Terrorists and Civilians all living their lives in the city of Hells Gate. A Cyberpunk futuristic dystopia or utopia depending on whoever you ask some even oblivious to the fact about the dark things happening around them high on drugs or alcohol in the many bars around the city. The three factions want to live their lives and they'll all you tell you different things on what they want. There are many races due to cybernetics and that so you could be anything you wanted but MAGIC DOES NOT exist. Cybernetics are uncommon but possible to acquire.

    Police-
The rightous the bold and the brave the ones that keep civilians and defeat the people that want to help the utopia that they live in. They will fight for what's right and do anything they can. Normally strong in numbers and have good technology that is police grade that allows them to hunt the ones that want to harm the peace. They are the protectors of all that's good in the city.

They serve protect and kill and will not hesitate to put a bullet in your brain if you even if you let them. Heh worthless peaces of scum they live in a blind world of utopia while people starve and hurt and will beat you for even stepping out of curfew. They are in the pockets of the buisnesses and are more of a personal army to the highest bidder.
    They're judge jury and execution.

As long as they protect me i'm fine to continue my life. I have my job to do stay in the laws and do everything they tell me as long as they have a good reason to. They're the protectors from the bigger evils out there that want to hurt us anytime.

    Terrorists-
So Terrorists well that's a terrible name for revolutionists. We know the information is out there. The rich is getting richer the poor getting poorer and sicker we're the modern day robin hoods. Yeah a few innocents die left and right but that's the price the companies have to pay for what they've done to us. Most of us are here for a reason. We don't care you reasons as long as you're willing to fight for us that's fine just be prepared to dirty your hands.
    We're the true heroes.

This terrorists are killing innocents and harming the peace of this world. They always want to hurt everyone and make sure they prove a point. Whats the point of murdering innocents. We get it you want to get back at the rich so what they're not going to stop and your people aren't going to get better when you plant bombs in the most populated buildings just to do the most damage. This is a Utopia most of the poor have ways to live in many ways and rehabilitation programs but they just choose to live on drugs.
    They're a threat.

They're going to kill us if we're not careful but I can't help but be swayed sometimes to their mantra. They're not nice people I couldn't even kill one person i wouldn't even try but trying to help the people in the slums is an amicable thing to do... I just wish they didn't blow innocents like me up.

    Civilians-
We're just the people that live our daily lives working and doing our jobs whether it's bartenders, fishermen hell even strippers if you really are into that. But we're the innoecnts. We don't work for either side we just follow the rules and laws as much as we want to to get by and not get whacked by police but we have to follow them just to make sure that we don't get killed by the terrorists that are lurking around in the shadows.

Civilians are there to be protected and served they follow the law we protect them. They break the law we break them make sure they don't do it again. OF course we don't kill civilians and if they're law abiding we let them live their peaceful lives. As long as they aren't planning an attack.

I know some are probably families kids workers and hell even friends but you came here for a purpose. You wanted to prove a point to the big companies out there and the damned police. So a few innocents won't hurt you if you want to get by. They're just inconviences anyway they should probably just take drugs to get their mind off the pain that's going happen. But again they are innocents we aren't savages... we'll find a way to compensate their families in one way or another as apologies.

    Leaders-
    Police-

    Name: Commandeer Arien Tami
    Age:21
Personality: Strict and has a very strong death glare for people that fail but has a massive motherly nature out side of work as her strictness comes from her stress of caring for civilians.

Out of work- Normally wears casual clothing like jeans and t-shirt normally likes to relax and not be bothered by work.
    Biography: Confidential.

    Civilian-

    Age: 51
Personality: A speaker with dolcet tones that seems to draw people in with his promises and happiness. He is always happy even when stressed but will always seem to struggle and panic but keep his trademark smile. Some people think that he's using cybernetics to cheat the election.
Appearance: A balding smiling man with grey hair. He normally wears smart suits and is rather wrinkled.
He is normally surrounded by a huge group of bodyguards so that anyone that gets close to him that's not authorised will be hurt.

Her eyes are heterochromatic with a bright blue glowing eye and a glowing yellow one to both if looked closely are cybernetically enhanced. She normally wears a wide variety of clothing and even costumes mostly mixed match or ripped though where she isn't careful.
Biography: A criminal through and through but that was because she was brought up in the slums of her home. She lost her sister Crystal, and her father and mother Luke and Nadia to police and want to get back at them. She has a huge list of criminal feets and not afraid to show them at all. Terrorism, murder theft you name it she's probably got it on her list she created the terrorists sec called Hellish Rondo. The rest you'd have to ask her.

    The city-

The city is broken into three districts the poor district aka the outskirtswhere the slums and illness rain supreme and are the hide out for Hellish Rondo. They know the backstreets and the way into the more richer part of the city. This is also where the red district is and where illegal cybernetic enhancements are got.

The middle of the city is the richest part with huge high rise buildings with pent houses and parties all night to flaunt off the money of course. The police headquaters is here and many respectable work places are here to.

The third part is trapped in the middle where the working class live. Shops basic modern amenities hospitals you name it it's probably there for you to find as well as the seedier bars and other things like simple restraunts. (more likely civilians)

    The rules.
    • Gm Rule is final I will be accepting or not accepting character sheets if I deem overpowered or rediculous. You can't just have 500 cybernetic enhancements that'd be rediculous.
    • No godmodding. I know it's a simple and obvious rule but it happens way to much.
    • Please try and welcome everyone into the rp. If they're new they may be just as nervous as me make sure they feel welcome but if you're in the middle of something obviously don't force yourself to pander to them i'll make sure they're entered into the world in some way.
    • If you can't post for a while that's fine. I won't be online all the time work and time constraints will make it hard for me at times to post to. Just please don't let the posts run ahead so people can get left behind.
    • And I will be expecting a little bit of creativity with characters have fun with them go a bit wild just not to wild and make sure they fit into the world.
    • WARNING I WILL ONLY ALLOW 15 PEOPLE into this RP FIVE OF EACH GROUP. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. SO IF YOU WANT TO JOIN DON'T HESITATE. DM ME YOUR CHARACTER :D

    Character Sheet.
Now for the fun part! Your character is what makes you you well your character you. You should be creative with it but make sure you remember the rules! Now then shall we begin?

    Name/Alias:
    Age:
    Personality:
Appearance (Includes what the race of the person is due to cybernetics):
Cybernetics: Will ALLOW ONE PER PERSON YOU CAN BUY MORE. (Depends on the race though and race cybernetics don't neccessarily count for this one. I'll decide on it when I get the sheet.)
    Biography:
Skills: It should be explained in the biography how you have these skills but I'll allow five each character.
Team: Valor mystic or instict? just kidding there but what are you? Are you a civilian a terrorist or a police man or women.

It is past the middle of the night here, but this looks right up my alley! I'll start thinking of a character tomorrow.

You just post it and then one of the Moderators'll look at it, then they'll approve it and allow everyone to see it.
