It's ok, gibble. OK, I'm gonna wait for Anonymouse before I post again. We're really coordinated in this fight, it's really cool, lol. (Also, Mack won't be able to use the Supervan laser gun now because...you know...Sapphire ripped out a bunch of wires, haha.)
Lol. And it is cool how we are fighting the Block. Also, I had Sapphire rip out the blue wires in the super van, because...you know... I assumed they would be reinforced. Haha. (Sorry Erik. Couldn't resist)
I do have a question about Sapphire's powers--a question, mind, not a criticism. Her thing with only being able to levitate blue things: is that really how her powers were engineered? Or, is it psychological? Like, is there the potential for her to move other objects, but she has this idea firmly in her mind that she can't? Would her powers be stymied by a coat of red paint? If she closed her eyes and someone put a ball in her hand and told her it was blue, and to levitate it, could she? Just an interesting thought to ponder for character development.
That's an interesting theory/question. She has tried to levitate other items and such, but only blue items are associated with her. A coat of red paint wouldn't do anything, as her powers can't be blocked. If u trap her alone in a black room, that's something to stop her powers, but as long as she can see its blue, she can levitate. She hasn't quite mastered levitating without sight, I might add that in the sorry if it dosent fall within writing in a new power. And her powers are pretty much psychological as she can read minds and manipulate them.
By psychological, I meant, only able to levitate blue things because she thinks she can only levitate blue things. If something is blue under a coat of red paint, does that make a difference?
She can only levitate blue items because blue is a basic colors, plus blue is a sort'a common color, but not too common. And I guess a reason would be psychological trauma, since when she was being tested on her cell had a blue handprint from someone before her who had died during testing. Basically being captured and tourtred/tested on inables her to use her full potential of levitation powers. Also, in my power list I said she could levitate any nonliving non animate thing as long as it had the color blue or an affinity. If something blue was painted, I suppose that she could levitate it only if she knew it was once blue, or saw it was blue. Kinda like how she can't levitate with her eyes closed.
Ah, so there's every possibility that if she could get over that particular hangup, she could use her powers on anything of any color?
Well I suppose one could assume that, but I don't think I can do that since its god modding right? I mean if @Erik-the-Enchanter! Says I can, then I would/will but I don't think its a likely probability. It would/will be awesome tho!
Sure, this is all theoretical discussion. I just thought it was something interesting to consider, particularly if you wanted to do something else with this character n
I don't really know what else I could do. The Adventures of Sapphire does have a good ring to it, but truthfully I'm hoping for another series of Un-Retired Superheros. Lol, Im a ataurus, I don't like change.
Sorry guys, I didn't think i was holding you up. Had a busy day. My bad. BTW, since we're discussing it: What happens if we give Sapphire a can of blue spraypaint? Does everything suddenly become levitatable or does it not work like that? If it doesn't work like that, why? Does it only work on things that are truly blue? (Is something not "true blue" if you just slapped some blue paint on it? Who the hell are you to tell me what's really blue and what isn't, you color nazi!?) Is it all a matter of perspective? If she wears blue-tinted glasses does she become GOD!!!? Ow, my brain hurts. Too much think. Must make think stop. Magic no make sense, that's why it be magic, durrr. Going to bed now.
Good night @AnonyMouse ! Yeah this whole blue buisness does have some brain aching loop holes. Magic rules- bane of my life.
I suppose she would be able to levitate the can, but not the spray paint inside as its not solid. And she can only levitate anything blue. No matter how long ago it may have been painted or anything. So she can levitate any non-animate, solid blue items. And its ANYTHING blue. And no, putting on those glasses wouldn't help.
Ah, but if she had a pair of blue lensed goggles locked on, how would she know? And how blue is blue enough? Indigo? Cyan? Teal? Again, I'm not trying to pick at your character, but I find this kind of thing fascinating.
Hey, new guy in the game. Here is my template NAME/ALIAS: Chris Adams aka Ripoff AGE: 47 GENDER: Male CATEGORY: Mystic POWERS: 1. Burrow. At the beggining of a fight, or in the face of a task he cannot perform himself, Ripoff may burrow the powers and notable skills of a fictional character from another dimension's (ours) pop-culture. His avility has two main downsides to it; he has no control over which character he takes (it is just as likely to be Kenny from Southpark as it is likely to be Superman), nor the duration of each "burrowing", and also he takes pieces of the personality and weaknesses the character has. SKILLS: Ripoff having experience and flashes of memory from being hundreds of characters to his resume, Ripoff has a bit of knowledge in a lot of fields. Hetakes notable skills of characters he "burrows".Other than that he is a really good chess player. APPEARANCE: Ripoff is a balding man, with grey hair, some wrinkles, an impressive beard and a body that's just past his prime. He walks around in khaki shorts and whatever shirt he found in his cupboard, usually one with somekind of referance on it. WEAPON: Anything notable his character has plus a revolver, just incase. OTHER: After years of absorbing other character's personalities Ripoff is not exactly what you'd call sane. Hequestions his own personality and reality, and years after retirement refers to himself by the name Ripoff
@obi-sem kenobi For remembering Joey, glad to know that your character cares too. @Domino355 Wow, I love your character! Lots of humorous possiblities
@Domino355, OK, you've only just started and already you've kinda gone off the rails. You gave me a list of heroes you could "borrow" and we set up a system for how you pick one. And then you go and turn into Nightcrawler and then Leonaedes, both of which are not on the list, and completely ignore the system. I'll let it slide this time, but please please please try to stick to our arrangement, otherwise you character is basically a god and that's just not fun for anyone. Thank you. :/
Yeah I wrote that I took the librety just this once, should have explained myself better. Nightcrawler was just to catch up with the story, and with Leonideas, yea it was out of line, just that was always how I imagined the character's introduction. I have been meaning to make him time out again as soon as he gets to fighting. From now on, I will stick to the arrangement
Cool character @Domino355 ! I saw your profile pic and I thought it was @ManOrAstroMan for a bit, and I'm like: He made another character!? Also, If she did have tinted glasses on or anything, then I guess it would be like guessing. She has a certain feel about blue objects, and would be able to know. If she does overcome her psychological trauma and she can levitate anything it wouldn't really matter. And I don't mind u asking questions, as long as they are not offensive!!! And as for "how blue" I don't really have an answer! I would probably relate myself to Scarlet Witch from Marvel. She's pretty much Sapphire 2.0 Lol. And maybe if we have another series, (I had some ideas for another series, I was thinking like something based off of CA:Civil War or a Superhero training academy?) maybe I could have that levitating everything power.
@ManOrAstroMan just to make it clear, Ripoff isn't really a shapeshifter in the literal sense. He still looks the same. Just his powers change. And he gets another personality crammed in his head.
Hey @Domino355, could u give us the list of characters you will be using? You don't have to if u don't want to, I'm just asking. Also, @Erik-the-Enchanter! For the character templates, this is one I thought I would use if I didn't use Sapphire. (This is just a joke lol, I'm not being serious.) REAL NAME/ALIAS: Mrs.Edna aka The Cat Lady AGE (30 & up): 93 GENDER: Female CATEGORY: Enhanced POWERS: 1) Cat Lady: Edna can summon one of her three cats, (Cherry, Jerry and Barry) at any time in any place. All she needs to say is: Cherry I close you! To summon Cherry. 2) Walker Smash: Edna can use her walker and hit people with it. She has been known to cause earthquakes when she utters the words: "Edna Smash!!!" While smashing her walker into the ground. 3) Knitting Needles: Watch Out! Edna can weild her knitting needles like swords. When she clanks them together 3 times, blades produce from inside. SKILLS: Knitting, Cooking, Yoga, Power-Walking/Power-Napping. APPEARANCE: Mrs.Edna has some white hair, and a pink blouse with a brooch. The brooch I'd a silver/rose color, and she also wears a white shirt underneath. She also has a pair of brown slacks she enjoys on sunny days. WEAPON/S (If any): Just the knives within her needles. OTHER: She has 2 grandkids, and enjoys tennis, but can't play due to surgery on her knee.
I just realised I haven't told you yet, but I'll be going on vacation for a week tomorrow! I completely forgot the impact that will have on my activity in this RP. Sorry for the inconvenience! Maybe just freeze John into carbonite or something
Hey @Erik-the-Enchanter! I just thought I'd let you know that John was fully poised to shoot those skulls the moment something happened. I'll give you control of John while I'm gone, so you can figure out why he didn't pull the trigger
Well, it wouldn't have mattered, Steele shot at Morgana and the wall of energy from her ritual just deflected it. I could write in that he shot at her, though.
