You're talking about True Detective or Mr. Robot? I've seen the second season of neither, but have now heard bad things about both. I only watched the first few episodes of Mr. Robot. It's a good premise, and the acting was OK, but the lines were TERRIBLE. Like for teens. I felt embarrassed watching it.
Haha I was talking about Mr. Robot. Never said the dialogue was great but I thought the story was good and the characters were interesting, at least in my opinion. I would say the same about True Detective though, loved the first season but never finished the second.
Same here. A drastic difference! I was really disappointed. Right now "Chrisley Knows Best" is on my TV because I've been too busy to change the channel. I've never purposely watched it because it just seemed too meaningless & goofy, but I've been listening & taking a look now and then & IT'S CRACKING ME UP! Hilarious!
Lucifer season two starts next week. And The Voice, season ?? does as well. They both look to be excellent.
Just finished watching "The Get Down" on Netflix. I've read a little bit about the early days of hip-hop before, but it was interesting to see it played out through individual characters. The pacing can be a bit off. Sometimes it feels like they're trying to pack far too much in. It feels like "so after 8 episodes they'll have invented hip-hop culture and then...?" They've set up lots of interesting story lines ready for a second season though. Mostly, what the show leaves in my mind is the same thirty bloody seconds of CAN's "Vitamin C" on loop. Did they use other songs as leitmotifs and that's the only one I noticed or...?
Just watched it last night. The dynamic between him and his mother seems like it could go interesting places. The case of the week thing was....meh. I much preferred meeting the new CSI character, Chloe's talk at the end with Lucifer, seeing Lucifer team up with his brother, and seeing Maz still protecting him even in the midst of finding herself then I did anything to do with the dead actress. I will also say that I loved the song at the end.
Organ Donors - Is the glass half full or half empty? So I'm watching this wonderful poignant episode of Grey's Anatomy where this young guy is dying and his doctor is reading to him all the people who will live because he's an organ donor. Almost makes me cry. And THEN there's the scene where they unplug all the tubes ... oh my gosh! His mom and dad are there .... And then I have this awful remembrance of a movie I watched where an organ donor wasn't dead yet and they took all his organs! A horror movie, of course. Scared the hell out of me. The next time I got my driver's license I made sure I didn't tick that little box. That's how negatively I think sometimes. And I don't even know how I feel about that.
I`m weird about medical shows. I can see a zombie hanging from a hook with it`s guts spilling out while it`s eyes are wide open on Van Helsing but one minute of Chicago med and I'm squirming. I think it might have something to do with how fake we know the scfi stuff is but med shows (while also fake) are more realistic, I mean it could happen. I`ll probably never be a zombie on a meat hook...I hope. On the organ donor thing, I`m sure that was for dramasantoin and that they would wait for the parents to leave before they pulled the plug and took out the tubes. Or at least I hope,
I was just gonna comment here. Grey's Anatomy is killin' me! The best surgeon in the show has strep & is killing all her patients. No one knows what to do! It's so sad. I have pride. Everyone has pride. Can you imagine how much pride a successful surgeon has & then to be told she's murdered 3 patients & has to stop doing surgery. Actually, it's funny how involved I get in these shows. lol Doesn't take much to entertain me, eh?
Have failed to be sitting in the right place at the right time to catch any more than 2 episodes of Red Dwarf XI so far. Generally, I'm liking it. This week (Officer Rimmer) was particularly good. Great concept, good jokes. The other episode I saw in full (the first one) was nice enough but a bit concept heavy. Great sci-fi, less great comedy. Delighted to have the lads back, though. Also: the production values on XI are maybe the best they've ever had. I tend to think Dwarf is at its best when it looks like someone made it in their shed but, weirdly, I'm loving the look of this series.
I hope there are some good tv shows on tonight. I was gonna spend some quality time on the internet but it's just too friggin' weird for my taste.

*See`s Penny Dreadful on Netflix* Hmm, my to watch list is long enough, but I've heard so much about it.....just a taste won`t hurt. I can revisit it later. *Finishes episode one* Hmmm, I`ll just watch the 2nd one then go to bed. *Finishes the second episode* ...........................................I NEED to watch the next one. *Finishes the third episode* There`s no real cliffhanger but I want to see where this all goes I smell a binge coming on.
Penny Dreadful is probably in my top 10; it's so captivating. I really loved the acting, the tone, pretty much everything about it. Too bad the show ended after 3 seasons -- way too early.
It certainly knows how to hook an audience and keep them watching. Spoiler The ending of episode two made you want more...if only it hadn`t been at the expense of poor sweet proteus I do wonder how long there gonna dance around Chandler`s story. It`s pretty obvious what he has, but they seem to be treating it like some state secret. Spoiler I mean he shows up right after a wolf slide in the opening for pete`s sake. After the zoo thing there`s no doubt in my heart.
A couple of UK shows that don't get enough love: Happy Valley -- really well-written characters (esp. the MC), really real; it's like they took The Bill (remember that?) and said, what would happen if we actually write proper plots and dialogue and made it worthwhile. Utopia -- slightly silly in places, but amazingly well-shot and brimming with slightly surreal moments of genius.
So "Powers" just started up on my local cable channel. I could tell right away that it had been canceled; it was on my local cable channel, and their show-buyer (or whatever the job is) just sits in Hollywood snapping up anything that's been canceled after one or two seasons. Still, I like the premise. Not into comic books, but like "Heroes," this has a slightly different take on things. It should be a fun two seasons.
My girlfriend and I just finished watching the first season of an Australian series titled "Glitch". It was very interesting, with a plot that revolved around a group of people who come back from the dead in a small Australian town. The first season is very compelling and leaves a lot of unanswered questions that will hopefully be addressed in the second season, which is apparently currently under development. I recommend it highly!
For some reason I decided to binge Pretty Little Liars on Netflix (I thought it might be like the first season of Veronica Mars- a fun little mystery- and lo-and-behold, it directly lifted the setup from it). The characters are horribly inconsistent and can be summed up as; several preening narcissists who manipulate everyone around them and are the MCs (I think they are supposed to be likeable); a teacher who should be in court on statutory rape charges, and; a supporting cast who should all be renamed either Red Herring or McGuffin, since they have no character whatsoever beyond fulfilling these two roles. The plot is bloated and incoherent. The writing generally consists of; sub-plots that lead nowhere; copious use of deus ex machina; copious use of retcons; ridiculous contrivances; vast plotholes; character motivations that change with the wind.... the writing is beyond awful, and I simply can't stop watching out of morbid intrigue as to what ridiculous direction the show will take next. Dire but strangely compelling.
Very excited for The Leftovers season 3 this Spring. Season 1 was great television but season 2? A masterpiece! It makes waiting until the summer for Game of Thrones much more bearable. Lately I've been rewatching Seinfeld and my God that show was gold.
There is a group of very fit young Japanese men, shirtless, wearing women's panties, wrestling each other in a cafe on TV right now. The loser of each bout has to bend over, have his panties pulled down, and get spanked by a pregnant women in a kimono. It's Sunday afternoon, 1 pm, and this is major network broadcast TV. So fucking weird.
