I sent a short story to critters.org for review. Now I just have to wait for it to hit the top of the queue.

N.B. critters.org allows you to get critiques ("crits," thus the name) without publishing your work. That is a major difference between critters.org and this site.

When you're the best at writing dialogue and you re-read it for sheer entertainment value. :-D

It is Friday! Just thinking that myself. I'm off today but not off for the weekend. I'm spending the day with my daughter & granddaughter. Makes me happy and keeps me from doing stuff detrimental to my health.

Great news! My cousin has been taken off sedation and his breathing tube was removed. One of the first things he asked was if he was going to die. :( Break my heart.

It's incredible how well he's doing for being shot in the heart less than 72 hours ago. He's so, so strong and so lucky. I don't know if I believe in miracles, but I can't think of a better word for it than that. This truly is a miracle. If he hadn't been so close to a hospital, if he hadn't had such great doctors to help him survive the air lift, if he hadn't had someone there to resuscitate him, if he hadn't had such a great surgeon... So many things could've gone wrong.

He still has a long road ahead of him until he's fully recovered, including some plastic surgery on his arm... But he's alive. Thank God, the universe, the doctors, whoever... He's alive.

I'm so glad he's doing better. Let him know we're all thinking of him and would like to hug him.

Y'know what I just realized? Every writer needs to have his/her place where the creativity can stir. I think I just found out what I need for mine: A cup of water, a public setting and a radio playing in the background.

If insanity means happiness, I'm glad to see all my online friends are happy! Hopefully they are just temporarily delirious. :)

I'm happy that after a day of feeling unusually unfocused and procrastinative (yup, my own word. We're creators too after all), I've just realised that I actually wrote more than I'd planned for today. Now, it's time to edit and thereafter, I believe an episode of Friends and a warm cup of tea is called for :)

Just got a kitten and she is so adorable! I'm in love with her.
She's about two months, black with white paws and nose, purrrs all the time and she is so friendly, that she run on me (and almost got through my nostril). I'm gonna be falling asleep with a purring fuzzball perching at the side of my neck from now on. :)

Signed for three classes in the spring at my college. The total amount due was around $1700. Financial aid covered $1150 of it. Now all I owe is $570 by February.

I have really big problems with focusing on writing, I always get distracted by internet, cell phone and simialr things. I usually wrote about 700 words per session.

My grandpa now gave me his old computer, the wi-fi doesn't work. I charge my phone by the door so I can't reach it. I installed offline dictionaries on the old-new comp, some basic software and BAM - yesterday 1100 words in the same timespan. :D

That gives me a bit of hope.

My cat is black with white paws and nose, too! I don't know how I'd manage without her.

Saw my aunt today. It was a nice visit. It's been too long since the last time I went to her house. She lives right up the hill too. I need to make it a point to go see her more often. I have her number so I can call her.

I will be going to Ireland in March! That is my happiness. Oh, and I woke up this morning with the sun shining on my face...that was also nice.

Mcdonalds in the UK is not the quality establishment you portray over water, @Carly Berg . Visiting, I would myself, just wear the normal clothes, although yesterday and adrift of point, I tried to wear an inherited mountaineering puffa coat from the cupboard, and I puffed at the train station. Yes. The sun shone in December, I flapped my arms, a giant commuter penguin, squeaked all Michelin ridiculous, thank you. Shan't wear it again till there is snow.

On Thursday I leave Brighton forever. We are moving somewhere very bleak and eccentric - like Dungeness, but not Dungeness exactly. Step out of my back door shall be upon pebbles overlooking the English Channel. I'm happy about this - going to learn to fish - and when really angry at night times one can simply run naked down the stones, splash wildly at the sea, froth, writhe, scream obscenities, only very small potential for arrest, same for my wife, so, as I said I am happy, possibly start writing again.

[Oh, also she has a new job with a Scottish company, what irony, possibly emigrating in the not too distant..]

Not exactly Dungeness? But pebbles, English Channel (power station?) Isn't that where that artist guy ...Derek Jarman lived? If so, it looks very artistic, in an eccentric way. You'll be right at home, I'm sure. And you have a BEACH? Fantastic. You will like that a lot.

Now if you really want a beach, you need to emigrate to Scotland, where we welcome all...

And this is a beach. A machair sand beach (all ground up shells, fluffy, pink, fantastic.) My favourite beach in the world. Isle of Barra hotel, within walking distance of Castlebay. You get to it via a 50 minute 12-seater flight from Glasgow that lands on another beach just up the coast (within walking distance.) So many cool places here. And world-class surfing off Tiree as well.

I think I'll hang out in bed for the rest of the day even though it's only three in the afternoon.

Today, my happiness comes from the realization that I have some very caring people in my life and I am very thankful for that!

Also! I am about to make some chocolate chip cookies.
