Ban my account, I'm done with this forum and the bullshit community.

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by xBlackHeartx, Dec 11, 2016.

Okay, I give in. I have talent, everyone who sees a sample of my work is in awe and believes I could make it as a professional author. I have little doubt in my mind. I'm more concerned with getting attention than improving my skill. Not that I'm saying I don't need improvement, there's never enough, I'm just saying I have bigger things on my plate, like advertising myself since I was planning on going with self-publishing, mostly for more creative control over my art.

But of course, everyone in this bullshit community just wants to brainwash you into not even trying. Tell me, do you seriously think its impossible, or are you just trying to eliminate competition? Telling me 'no, don't do what you love, don't do what you're good at, you need to find a job in a community where there are no job offers, literally, and you can't possibly get a fucking job bc you're a fucking 30 year old that's never been employed. oh, and my sister doubts I could handle an actual job anyway.

So fuck you all, I don't need bullshit like this. I'm doing what I want and I don't give a fucking shit if you fear someone whose work you've never even seen may seriously be competition for you.

You want to see a sample of my work? Okay then, here's a poem I wrote years ago when I was in a bad mood. Yeah, I could've done better. I think I did a lot better with the speech I wrote for my father's memorial service, but that's far too personal to put online. And note, I was still going to do fantasy at the time. And actually sitting down to write (more for therapeutic reasons than anything else honestly, I'll probably never show anyone what I'm currently writing, I decided I had some issues I needed to work out first), I think I may still do fantasy anyway. I can't write superheros, bc I can't make them make sense. At least with fantasy I can make it all make sense.

    BANISH HIM.
    ...

But I know what you mean about eulogies. Mine was brilliant, the vicar even said so, but yes, a little indulgent to post your heart-wrenching & brilliant eulogy to a dead father online. I'll keep mine safe for when you guys say 'we knew him once,' biographers & such

A couple of weeks after I delivered my eulogy, I visited a rival's funeral. She just buried her dad a year after her mum, but she was awful:

'Dad, you were always visiting me at work when I was very busy, and as we all know, you loved racism...'

And at grandma's funeral I wrote a poem, but was bushwacked [or hoodwinked] by a six year old cousin who had also written a poem. It was shit, rhyming couplets, but still a crowd gathered round the little kid. No one said anything about my poem written about my feelings, except that it was 'long.' Won't be going to her funeral again.

Take some time to sort yourself out. Nobody is concerned with your potential, or 'competition'. If anything, there appears to be some more pressing issues that you may want to attend to, and unfortunately they are not issues that anybody here can help you with.

However, if the emotions caused by said issues can be sorted therapeutically via cathartic writing, do it.

    Best wishes.

You know you can just ignore advice you disagree with, right?

Perhaps this should be in the mental health support thread. 1 week, 19 posts (so nothing to critique) and most replies were constructive.
Either he's got serious issues, or we've got another sock puppet.

I suspect that he's pissed off because @Wreybies told him to seek mental health advice instead of using this forum as a free counselling service when he locked the last thread. Advice that IMO he still really needs to take.

(By the way ref your poem - "there once was a bird" , or "there once were some birds" - not "there once was some birds" - I mention this not to brainwash you into not trying, but because you aren't going to get published with errors like that in line one . )

He was pissed off even before Wreybies arrived on the scene. He's an angry guy, and, yes, he'll probably be happier if he seeks out some professional help.

This is true - I'm not blaming Wrey , just noting that closing that thread probably triggered this one.

Personally I get really sick of the woe is me my life is so shit thats why I can't write anything wah wah wah threads. Most everyone has problems/baggage etc, its a lucky person who goes through life without collecting any scars, but most of us don't feel the need to go on and on about them, or to continually exaggerate them in pursuit of sympathy.

Never let it be said that I am not a generous man or that I don't fulfill requests....

But seriously, (if it's even possible to take a rant like this seriously), some advice from L'il WreyWrey:

On the other side of your front door there is a magical land called Outside. In this magical land you will find these funny little bags of flesh, blood, and other assorted goopy things that are known as Humans. Interact with them. No, no. Put down your phone and close your screen. Interact with them, one on one, in the flesh. Yes, the flesh. I know, it's scary, but it's also so enriching. Interact with them in lots of ways. Try out some of your I'm an Internet Big Boy acts on them - again, in the flesh - and see what happens.

Get smacked in the gob. No seriously, do it.

Getting smacked in the gob is a learning experience everyone needs. A life without a good gobsmacking is a life unlived. It's a reality check. It resets your Theory of Mind and clears out all those pesky solipsistic "cookies" that keep jamming up your system and making you crashie.

Keep interacting with these Humans until the smacks in the gob stop happening. Take note of when they stop happening. That's an important border to be aware of. Try to operate mostly on the side of the border where you don't get smacked in the gob, but remember that occasionally you do have to step to the other side of that line to get things done. At least now you know what lies on the other side and you're a bit more ready for things.

Have fun. Tell me what you thought of Outside. I'll be waiting here with Mr. Tumnus, because this is the fantasy and out there is the reality.

    Yours lovingly,
    L'il WreyWrey

Question for @Wreybies, are banned persons still able to log-on but can't post, or are they unable to log-on?

@Scot, you can see the forum without logging on, aside from the workshop section. If that answers your question.

They can no longer sign on, no, but as noted, one does not need to sign on to see the majority of the forum, Workshop excluded.

I was familiar with the terms "gobsmacked" and "gob", but I had literally never broken them down or put them together or whatever would have been required to realize that, since "gob" means mouth, "gobsmacked" means hit in the mouth. I just... I always thought gobsmacked was just a random nonsense word.

So... today has been a useful day so far. Keep up the good work, world!

I don't know about Canada, but this term isn't really used at all in America. Just a term I picked up from my Brit friends. I get the feeling that it's usually used in a more metaphorical fashion to mean amazed, surprised, etc. I hope a bit of license will be forgiven this wee Yank. :) It's just got such a great sound to it. That, and stonking. Love that word. :D

    *gobstopper

...yes, you're right about 'gobsmacked.' ... ...also, it may be a little generational.

...and whilst 'smack in gob' can be quite serious, 'gobsmacked' never is.

Do you know about 'peak' meaning naff, not good - and 'longs' meaning arduous? From my kids, I am old 'person.' I'll think on.

    ..

My manager says 'we're all up together...' which means shipshape, dialect thing from Sowffahmpen.

They don't really - gobsmacked is more like flabbergasted , it doesn't really mean that you've been smacked in the gob - of course some people might find their ghast fully flabbered on receiving a punch in the mouth , but most would be too busy lying on the floor bleeding

ETA no one really says "Stonking" anymore - that originated from a Lenny Henry Comedy show about a DJ called ( i think) Delbert Wilkins

and subsequently the Hale and Pace Comic relief song

No, I knew the metaphorical meaning of gobsmacked... it was the literal origins I hadn't put together. So I knew it currently means flabbergasted, but I hadn't traced it back and realized that the origins of the term were probably related to being smacked in the mouth.

I'm standing by my amazement. One may say I am gobsmacked by the etymology of "gobsmacked".

The etymology is from smacking your hand to your mouth in amazement rather from getting a smack in the mouth though - that was what I was trying to say
