I've decided to take the traditional method of longhand to a blog entry I'm working on. I wrote the first draft in pencil, revised it in red pen, and I'm currently working on the second draft which I've chosen to write in a purple pen (I know it doesn't matter, but it helps me keep track of drafts). I'm finding that writing my blog entry out in longhand and going back and revising it on a clean sheet of paper is helping my thoughts flow easier. Some may call me weird because it is just a blog entry, but the subject of the blog itself is something I've needed to discuss for a while. I should be working on my stories, I know. But this is a much need break and then I will come back to them. When I write blogs or handwritten letters I usually plan what I'm going to say on a notecard or two (because if I just pantser my letter or blog entry, most of the time I miss a key point that was on my mind but I failed to mention. Longhand drafting helps me to work out the pacing of my piece. I treat my writing like a work of art. I want to be the best writer I can possibly be. I think this method is working out for me, but I don't want to get too hooked on it and lose sight of what's really important and that's getting the work done.
