I thought I'd join this forum, both as a way to gain inspiration by reading others and as a way to force myself to keep writing things. I've enjoyed writing (primarily fiction) for as long as I can remember, and have had several pieces of greater or lesser length fermenting over the past seven or eight years. I actually managed to "complete" a piece of weird fiction over the summer, and am currently attempting to turn something that's been floating around for an age into a longer piece of writing. It's a bit fantasy I suppose, but I'm not very good at classifying things. With another hat on I've written some overly-long non-fiction works about Romans. My particular problem is finding time, and keeping at it. I work in education and for a lot of the year am very busy, and have little energy in the evenings to make myself write. But am trying. I've no idea whether anything I'll write will ever be published, but I suppose we all write to be read, at least a little. I read quite a lot, in a scatter-gun manner. I've just read a History of the World in Twelve Maps, and will soon move on to some Shirley Jackson (who I very much like), and the second James S. A. Corey silly sci fi book. I also like music of different types (at the moment some American folk incl. Seeger, Guthrie and the Carter Family, but also Swans and more obnoxious material) and cricket. I live in the UK, in the unexciting Midlands. I hope to actually contribute to this forum!
Welcome to the forum! Such a weird coincidence: I just bought the book Abiyoyo for my son yesterday, and was going to make a post about it. I'd never heard of the book before. Then someone joins the forum with the name Abiyoyo. Strange world we live in. Again, welcome!
