Anyone know where @Erik-the-Enchanter! is? I was hoping he would do another UnRetired Supervillains. He has been inactive for a long time now.
If we're doing proper mythology, there are no solid rules or consistent things, so I wouldn't worry about something being too powerful.
I'll post an overview of mine, it requires at least one reaper, one guardian and one ghost before play so I'll only launch it when, one I have enough time, two when the other RPs have got going and three if I have this much interest. I've had hold of this RP for too long really. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Backstory: There are four great beings, ever since the beginning, made by 'the cosmos'. They are Fate, Luck, Life and Death. These four all guard 'the beyond' where souls go when their earthly bodies are spent and all reside in Feasgar, a place seperate to Earth, but attached to Limbo, where souls drift before being sent on. For millennia Life and Death never met, but one day they met over a soul they had both come to claim. Death was captured by Life’s beauty and Life only saw him as a play thing so over a hundred years they argued bitterly, about whether they really loved one another and how to deal with souls, send them onto the beyond, or reincarnate them. In this time they did somehow have children. These children are known as the angels, the angels of life and death. Life didn’t care for these children and wanted them to fade like humanity. This is when Death stole away the angels of Death, giving some of his power to them, to protect them, so they would never die. After many years of argument, Death got Life to give the angels of Life effectively immortal lives. The Hall of Clocks, soul colours, tools and Death’s book: In Life’s chambers is the Hall of Clocks, every one of them corresponding to a human life. They are all different and all can be changed after creation, either by Fate, Luck, Life or Death. Fate and Luck are the only ones permitted to do so by the cosmos. Clocks are made at the same time as the soul of the person and can be used to find said person. Soul colours are how souls appear to ghosts, they can be grey (alive), red (killed by Life), purple (their clock has stopped) or blue (a ghost). The scythes and binding tools used can be simple human objects but must be left behind by someone who has died. Reapers can change jobs but have to have an audience with Fate and Death first. In Death’s book, the names of humans who have died appear in black and in gold, how. Death then will take a silver pen and write next to it which one of the reapers should take on the task of reaping the soul from its body. Each angel of Death has a scroll on which the task will appear. Angels of Life: Known as guardian angels by humans, these angels can save humans’ souls from both Life and Death, allowing them to continue their current life. They must find the soul while it is still warm, appearing red and also meaning that Life herself has tried to end that life. However they can not see this colour and rely on ghosts to help them rescue such souls. This process is known as binding. They have eleven opportunities to save any humans’ life and when these run out, they become mortal and are subject to Life’s cruel ways as they are now basically invisible humans. Angels of Death: By giving up his powers to give the angels life, Death can only reap so many souls a year and so the angels of Death or reapers as they are also known, reap souls from certain humans, depending on how they died. For example, one reaper may only be able to reap and send on souls of humans who died by beheading, while another only by drowning. They can only reap a soul if it is red or purple. They can get hurt by fall out from the scythes if they stand to close to another while they are reaping and will be weak for a while as well as from demon attacks. Ghosts: Death and his children try to make sure that all souls are sent on, except for the following: those who believe in reincarnation (Death is very saddened each time), atheists (these souls are destroyed as they believe in no beyond) and agnostics, which turn into the said ghosts. Most ghosts become friends with some type of angel as they are the only ones who can see soul shades. They are vulnerable for a few hours after reaping but after that, neither Death or Life can touch them. Ghosts can’t be killed, hurt or destroyed and are also the only ones visible by certain humans. Demons: These are souls who have not been claimed by Life for reincarnation or Death for reaping and sending on. They are still loosely attached to the physical world and become corrupted by the fact they can’t fully join it again or let go and journey on to the afterlife. They can severely weaken angels, sometimes to the point they can no longer bind or reap. Ghosts can soothe them, but the soul will be destroyed, rather than going on to be a ghost themselves or the beyond. While in limbo they give out bad impulses, leading to robbery, muggings and sometimes even murder in that area. The situation: Both Death and Life have gone missing. While it has only been for a month, the humans of Earth are already starting to see something is up as people are unable to become pregnant and crime rates are rising due to the presence of demons. The Reaper of Dueller’s Souls (or Tom) has called upon all the other angels and ghosts he could get hold of to find their parents, the book and to reap, bind and destroy all the souls they can. Guys, For those who want to find mum and dad, please meet me in the hall of clocks at six in the morning. We don’t want to wait until mum starts trying to kill souls again, and dad might be doing something stupid like trying to get back with mum. If we don’t find the book soon, limbo will be a battlefield and half the Earth will be in ruins. Ghosts, if you would like to join us, though you owe nothing to neither of them nor the Earth any longer, you may join us as it would aid us in the search for souls in limbo. Thanks, Tom, Reaper of Dueller’s Souls.
Hmmm. That seems like a good RP. I might join I.A. But since Icarus is kinda going, and Ilvermorny was just officially finished, I suggest waiting to see how good Dominos RP will be. If its good, I suggest waiting until its nearing hhe finishe.
OK, I'll try catching up tomorrow, and I'll make my post. Sorry for my deeelllaay... I'll start my post from wherever I died. I'll read it all tonight, and post tomorrow.
I thought I'd dive in the deep end and GM. The focus will be more on the collaborative writing aspect than pure roleplaying, so I'll explain the details somewhat dryly and leave the writing to the opening paragraphs. Setting Think Dark Ages, culturally and technologically. There's been a lot of war and instability, but things seem to be clearing up. The kingdoms of Cryen to the north, Penedor to the east and Golten to the west have respected each other's borders for two generations. It probably has something to do with the largest kingdom, Lethente to the south, which has come to occupy the vast and productive Central Plains and now shares a border with all three of her rivals. King Regulour, ever the forward thinker, has secured the lands his predecessors had seized by granting generous trade deals. Lethente now feeds most of the continent, and economic interdependancy has stitched together this once chaotic land. The map consists of a large and fairly flat continent, although there are hilly areas and more mountainous terrain as you get towards the frozen north. For the most part, it's a lush and temperate environment alternating between forests and plains. Our story begins in the centre of the land in the village of Touren, which backs up against a cliff and borders a large forest. The village is a bit of a nowhere place, unless you're a priest, in which case you'll know that it's overlooked by the legendary Flow Temple, a disappointingly small collection of buildings peeking over the edge of the cliff. An anxious little man arrived yesterday at the village inn. When the landlady came downstairs this morning, she found him dead on a stool, slumped over the bar and clutching a leather-bound book, mostly blank, with the exception of a few scattered pages bearing what seem to be mindless scribbling. The cause of death is unknown. A strange coincidence then, that a group of morose priests is approaching from the south. Spoiler: Spirits There are bound spirits like embodied souls (us) and ghosts at our level, true spirits (things akin to angels and demons, among others) above us, demigods above that and gods at the highest level. Many believe there are entire other dimensions available to these creatures, as it seems strange that the greater and more powerful the spirit is, the less interaction they seem to have with our world. Spoiler: Magic Magic can be separated along two dimensions, the elements and the polarity. Everybody can potentially use magic with enough training, but to do so one must first discover which precise combination of elements and polarity matches their soul. A bit like resonant frequencies. Once you've discovered that, you can begin to train and to spread your access to other magics. Elements: Fire (Heat) Ice (Cold) Water (Liquidity) Earth (Solidity) Air (Super-liquidity) While the commoners simply know them as fire, ice, water and earth, the adept understand that things like cold and liquidity can be combined. Traditionally, there is also an air element, but some have realised that it is actually a higher 'band' of liquidity - people can 'tune in' to liquidity either at a low level (water) or a high level (air). Despite things like heat and cold clearly being opposites, having control over one does not give you automatic mastery of the other. It's strange I know, but there are many mysteries in the world. Polarities: Light Dark These cannot be explained in physical terms, but they affect the spirit world, which includes your soul. Best to stick with your natural polarity. Experiment at your peril. NB: Light and Dark are not synonyms of good and evil. Many better parallels exist, like day/night, energy/stability, or on an emotional level, anxiety/depression or ecstacy/calm. Rules The usual. No godmodding, keep explicit content down. I do, however, want to encourage players to build this world with me. Feel free to introduce new elements, backstory or whatever takes your fancy, so long as you avoid deus ex machina. Also, you ARE allowed limited control over other people's characters, and vice versa! Hopefully this will intergrate our writings a little and help with flow. At first, keep this limited to basic actions and responses, but as you get to know other people's characters better you can expand it a little. Use some common sense. Don't kill other people's characters or give them a life changing ball-sectomy. Sort of halfway between RPing and writing a novel between us. Write your piece from your character's point of view, rather than playing your character like a video game. It's worked really well in the past for me. That means that it's important to include a basic personality profile in your character description to help everyone else out, and when you create your character, know that her/his journey will not be entirely in your hands! Character Sheet: Name: Age (roughly): Gender: Position in life: Appearance: Key backstory points (optional): Personality:
Okay, I've got an idea for a much smaller scale RP that I'll likely put up when I'm feeling well enough. It'll be a lot more linear than most of my other stuff, which means no issues with people losing track of what's going on. To give a quick idea, sci-fi planet hopping bounty/treasure hunt.
And now I have another idea for a fantasy RP which I will best describe as "fantasy Renisnace Italy caravan guard, but somethings about to go horribly wrong".
Okay people here's the plot for the Sci-Fi RP. I just need a title and then it'll be up. It is the year 3223 by the human common calendar, and the galaxy is at peace, or whatever semblance of it there can be when over eight hundred sentient species ply the stars, seeking to make their own way. However, our gaze is cast over the galactic north west, where, amongst the various systems, the ruins of the Eltheni empire, brought to collapse not by war, but the treasurer AI named Minos taking all of the government's funds, before disappearing with the Empress's personal ship, leaving behind this mysterious message. "The foolish games we play." Spoiler: Message in Binary 01101000 01110100 01110100 01110000 00111010 00101111 00101111 01110100 01101001 01101110 01111001 01110101 01110010 01101100 00101110 01100011 01101111 01101101 00101111 00110010 01100110 01100011 01110000 01110010 01100101 00110110 That was four hundred years ago, and any attempt to find where Minos disappeared to, and recover the funds has proven fruitless. Now though, you, a bounty hunter, mercenary, pirate, or other shadowy figure of the underworld, has been sent an invite, to the Len Den Bazar on Sol Three, the Human homeworld, from a synthetic claiming to have uncovered a clue to Minos's location, and the vast amounts of wealth that he took with him.
Since I am going to try and Co-GM @halisme's latest masterpiece, I will wait until afterwords to post my newest game. I'm hoping it dosent flop! Feel free to pm questions, or early templates! Zodiac Wars When you are born, a sign claims you. As you age, a sign gifts you. As you live, a sign lives you. These signs are the Zodiacs, and these signs are at war. Story You live in present day as an average person. Well, at least you appear average. Your actually an operative, for one of the Zodiac Houses. Each house has a patron sign and meaning. The 12 houses are at war however, and you fight for your side. Each side uses unique characteristics and abilities for the war to gain edges and win. Why are they fighting? Well, the entire house of Leo has disappeared and each house blames the other. (Just to clear things up, only a fraction of the worlds population are in involved in the Zodiac, so not every Leo on the planet is gone, only those actually involved in the Leo House) To complicate matters some of the houses now have Hosts. A host is a person who can channel the special attributes of their house. For example, a host of Scorpio can turn into a giant scorpion and use the traits of the Scorpio house such as being able to hide and manipulate their's and others feelings. Hosts haven't been seen in thousands of years! So with battling houses, hosts, and more will you fight for your side or betray your side? Will you use the powers and resources of your house or not? The choice is yours. Also, if your House falls in the war, that house is gone. The last remaining house wins. YOU MAY NOT JOIN A FALLEN HOUSE Setting Each house has its own base around the world. Aries The Ram ♈ Mar. 21–Apr. 19/ Madagascar Taurus The Bull ♉ Apr. 20–May 20/ Olympia, Washington, USA Gemini The Twins ♊ May 21–June 21/ New York, New York, USA Cancer The Crab ♋ June 22–July 22/ Rome, Italy Leo The Lion ♌ July 23–Aug. 22/ The former Niagara Falls Leo base was destroyed a little after the disappearance of the Leo's Virgo The Virgin ♍ Aug. 23–Sept. 22/ Paris, France Libra The Balance ♎ Sept. 23–Oct. 23/ Lakes Homer and Ontario, USA Scorpio The Scorpion ♏ Oct. 24–Nov. 21/ Southern region of Australia Sagittarius The Archer ♐ Nov. 22–Dec. 21/ Quebec, Quebec, Canada Capricorn The Goat ♑ Dec. 22–Jan. 19/ Near Mount Rushmore, USA Aquarius The Water Bearer ♒ Jan. 20–Feb. 18/ Known only to Aquarius Pisces The Fishes ♓ Feb. 19–Mar. 20/ Japan The Houses Read here to learn more about the attributes and characteristics of each sign and house. 1st House of Aries: self, life, body 2nd House of Taurus: possessions, money, material circumstances, livelihood 3rd House of Gemini: local movement, short journeys, communication, school, siblings 4th House of Cancer: home, family, roots, parent 5th House of Leo: creativity, children, romance, entertainment 6th House of Virgo: health, service, work, routine. 7th House of Libra: partners, marriage, open enemies 8th House of Scorpio: sex, death, inheritances, other’s money, loss 9th House of Sagittarius: travel, higher education, religion, spirituality, law 10th House of Capricorn: career, social position, dominant parent 11th House of Aquarius: friendships, associations, aspirations 12th House of Pisces: hidden matters, the unconscious, clandestine relationships, secret enemies, seclusion So when you choose your house, be mindful that you will get the skills in your house, look above! House Attributes Use these for abilities/specialist skills in character template Aries: Since they are very comfortable with their bodies, maybe stuff like hand-to-hand combat, agility, gymnast skills? Taurus: They are very sturdy, so how about they can be strong and powerful, with muscle. And, of course since it is a house of wealth they can be wealthy, have possessions, that kind of stuff. Gemini: Good sense of direction,if that can count. Maybe they can also be good in anything social, such as being able to lie under pressure, and use their words to manipulate others. Cancer: Knowledgeable about peoples relatives and their lives, (useful for spies), can tail people easily, stealthy. Virgo: This house is usually good looking, good in science and biology and medicine practices, so you can use one of those, hard workers. Libra: They are devoted to those they marry, more than to their house, they can easily trick others into falling in love with them. Can cause quite a scene if provoked. Scorpio: (Draco Malfoy anyone?) VERY wealthy! They can also kill without remorse, and are deceiving and cunning. But most of a Scorpios family is dead as is those they love. Sagittarius: Devoted to their religion, not fighters nor killers, usually very smart and educated. Ones for justice. Capricorn: Dominant in a group usually, leaders and tacticians, skilled in whatever task they work on. Aquarius: Very friendly and nice, can charm others easily. Assumptions they make are usually on point. Pieces: Ruthless and secretive, like spies, cunning, smart, quick, deadly. They know a lot about the other houses and their secrets. Hosts (Look up in a "Setting" for more) I will choose some people randomly to be hosts, please don't ask! If you do, I will also try and give you some powers and stuff. Please dont abuse this. Characters Be mindful, your character MAY die. If so, just make a new one. Those I suspect of killing off characters just to try and get Host powers will not be allowed to play. Name: Age: 21 and above House: Any house except Leo Are you interested in being a Host: Yes/No Money: Add how much money they have in their bank account Background: House Affinity: Choose an ability/attribute of your house that you specialize in. Where you live: You may not live inside a House Base Example Template: Name: Henry Palates Age: 33 House: Aquarius AYIIBAH: No Money: 33.2K Background: Was raised in the house of Virgo, his mothers house, but switched to Aquarius, his fathers house, when he turned the legal Zodiac age of 21. House Affinity: Henry is proficient in the Aquarian talents, (why he switched), but he is great at the Aquarius talent of friendliness. Anyone he meets will like him instantly, and be charmed by him. Rules No God-Modding A character death MUST be planned with the 2 fighting characters. No character can disobey the laws of physics. For example, if the Virgos are attacking the Capricorn base, and 3 Virgos shoot at one Capricorn, this Capricorn can't just doge all of the bullets, nor can he die unless it is planned. No making multiple characters, I will control the majority of each House, (The one exception is if your character dies) No double-housing Try not to do anything sexualized, keep it PG-13 No outrageous money amounts. 5 million maximum, but play realistically. Money The point of money is so you can buy tools for assaults on bases, killing supplies, to hire others and such. More on the War What you can do, is basically any thing. You can be active in your house, a field agent, a spy, a mole, or someone who is like a tech guy or jet fighter. Since this thing will basically be going on a worldwide schematic, fights will happen when Capricorns and Virgos are both going for Taurus, so they team up and attack the base for example. One by one the Houses will fall until ONE HOUSE is left standing for the win. And finally....... The House alignments. Here are the house alliances in the war. The powerhouse- A alliance of Pieces, Capricorn, and Scorpio. The "Fighters"- Virgos, Aquarius Bouncers- Taurus, Gemini The Loners- Libra, Cancer, Aries The secret alliance- Peisces, Libra, and Taurus.
Just an ask if some people are still interested in a reaper/death based game? I can't handle anymore stories so that's why I've tried converting it to rp. It doesn't need many people to play, just one of each type of person would be ideal, but if not I can play as these types when needed! It's also fine if no one is interested, I'll just have to put into my bank of ideas again
Hey guys, I'm new here! I have some rp writing experience, but it has been a long time since I have written anything and I want to improve my writing. I read that the language spoken here is English (well, that is obvious), so I'll say it beforehand; my first language is not English. I am from the Netherlands. I hope that is not a problem, because I'm still improving my English. This means that I can make some grammar mistakes or wrong usage of words (please tell me if I do, so I can improve). I read the story about the zodiac wars and I would love to participate! Also, the reaper/death story sounds really interesting and cool! I just have to read it again for like 5 times for the backstory to make more sense haha.
