Wrote a very short story this evening.

When ideas come, they certainly come... in this case, early in the morning, half asleep.

I'm having a really cool idea for a mystery novel. Not going to write it, though, until I finish the one I'm on (which'll probably happen next month) but it's nice having this other idea fleshing itself out in my head until then.

Now that you mentioned it, Mallory, I'd best go to my mystery and work on it.

Woot! I get to see my girlfriend this weekend.

      How sweet of her, Lemex!

I'm so excited. I hadn't written in 3/4 days, because I was stuck on a certain plot point that was tripping me up, but I figured it out finally. I'm going to spend a day or two mapping out how the scenes will play out (but I know what to do now - might even do it tonight) and then, expect my word count to jump 5,000 words or so in the next few days.

      FINALLY!

Well... I've got an I'm happy post yay!

After much self loathing/doubt, I got off it and did some editing and writing on a short story tonight. I didn't get a lot written but compared to what I've been doing lately it's a baby step.

On to the really good parts!!!

I'd been insanely worried about my best friend but it turned out she was okay. I thought she'd been kidnapped and had likely evidence to believe she may have been. It was the most terrifying night of my life. The cops were called. I even went to her apartment building and used my spare key she gave me awhile ago to look through her place and check for signs of foul play just in case anything had happened, like if she'd crawled home bleeding after the cops had already checked and they'd missed her or something (had two burly guy neighbors come with me for safety, lol) but it's fine now.

I finally got ahold of her, she's in the hospital, she had an accident with a medical issue but everything is fine most likely. No attempted murder, sex attack, any of those things.

I'm SO relieved. Earlier, I'd been all floaty and numb but very cool-headed, but now I'm all shaky.

Sends online hugs your way... I'm glad your friends ok, and it wasn't something way worse. She's really lucky to have somebody that cares about her who'd be looking out for her and that worried.

Golden retrievers are awesome. My dad is retiring in a couple years and plans to get one then.

I love playing with my Maine Coon cat.

Right, I've reached my 48k again and am going to aim for 50k after lunch.

I was very careful about saving and copying this time, so my backups are safe as far as I know.

I'm just glad I could get back to the point I lost my work last night without letting it put me off course too much. It felt very easy to throw the towel in after I'd worked so hard to reach a target, only to lose it all.
