I got a Kindle too. I love my Kindle.
Doesn't stop me from loving physical books, physically though.
if with no prayers you call down rain,
O! How you'll gaze in vain at another's ample stockpile
and shake the forest oak to soothe your famine.
Virgil - The Georgics: Book 1, Lines 157 - 159.
'... the philosophers have only interpreted the world, the point is to change it.'
Karl Marx
'All I know is I'm not a Marxist'
Karl Marx
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
- "The Second Coming", W.B. Yeats

I do find there is something about the Kindle which speeds reading up; I think it might be the rate of words per page. Also, I love the fact that you can use a Kindle easily with one hand, for whatever you are reading. I couldn't imagine trying to read a physical book that is anything larger than 200 pages when doing something, like cooking.

The only drawback to the Kindle is that I'm in the middle of 8 or 9 books. I used to have 4 or 5 going at a time, but with the Kindle it is so easy to have that many more going![]()
My hovercraft is full of eels.
I've downloaded the chess apps for my Kindle and I LOVE IT!! Now pitting myself against Jesus Christ. Yes, that's right, there's a Chess App in which you can name yourself and the computer opponent. Predictably, Jesus is kicking my arse.
As for books, I'm reading two of them at the same time.
How is that a drawback?
Got a job interview for the new year! Paralegal post in Dewsbury. Got a couple of weeks to prepare for it and make sure I nail the interview.
And if anyone's bored enough, I have a new bit of flash fiction on my external blog. Wrote it in 20 minutes flat, so don't expect it to be any good. But if you don't mind men with lava for skin taking over your next five minutes, you might like it.

A tiny bit of Chocolate-Rum Liqueur mixed with Vanilla Ice Cream. Very good stuff.
Had a pretty awesome Christmas, and today was a nice relaxing day.

I GOT THE JOB!
Expect 11 days of me flitting round here like a moth with ADHD and then for my activity to go a bit quiet when I start.![]()

Getting my nose back to the grindstone now that all of the christmas and new year's festivities are over. I think this flu is finally receding as well. I'm happy because I managed to write up about 1200 words today from notes and I don't hate what I wrote, it actually looks kind of good. Or maybe all that mulled wine has affected my faculties.![]()

Now how did we let this reach the bottom of the page?
My happiness is that I've reached 1K on my Western! Literally, yesterday I had only 138 words, told myself I'd write 138 more words today and wounded up with 1K words.
I guess it's because I watched that old show called Little House on the Prarie. Hey, whatever works, no?![]()
I've just dropped Rachel off at the station after a brilliant weekend with her. Haven't seen her for six months and it was great to see her again. I probably won't see her again for a while, but it was the best weekend I've had in a very long time.
Just got a new 24" monitor for my computer, which is awesome. It's so nice having everything spaced out and readable. Also, I am now using both the new and old screen at the same time which means I have even more space.
Two computer screens: shouldn't make you happy, but my god it has done!

Hear your voices sing back louder

My wife came home from prison in December, after 24 years. With any luck I'll be riding that happiness wave for the rest of my life.
