Oh I got your word plays and I laughed pretty loudly. Enough that my four year old gave me strange looks. We just joke in this house that my guitar will never be lost, what with her big butt and all.

I love critiquing and editing stuff. It can be books, movies, movie critics, basically anything. I love to gain knowledge just for the sake of having knowledge. Oh, and I like staring at shiny things. And baking. You have no idea until you try it exactly how good Whoppers cheesecake cupcakes are. Tuesday I'm going to experiment with making cookies with caramel on the inside.

Oh I just had a caramel cupcake, with caramel icing and a dollop of gooey caramel inside. I shall be more than happy to taste test your cookies for you.

Right now I'm fascinated with history and wondering why I didn't pay more attention to the subject in high school. Although I'm hoping to go back to college and study it next year along with several other social sciences.

My free time is unvaried. If I'm not writing or reading then I'll be in the gym, at the bar, working on graphics (well, this one is done in my free time but it usually involves voluntarily helping people with web/merch designs) or watching TV dramas.

There are quite a few cooks and musicians among us. That's awesome.

Yoshiko, I also wished I'd paid more attention to history during high school!

I love baking, but I don't like cooking dinner... I also love playing guitar and piano, though I still kind of suck at the guitar, just started about a year ago. Drawing is probably my favorite hobby besides writing. I love designing clothes (I'm really girly). A not so girly hobby of mine is playing video games. I don't get to do it that much because of school, as when I start playing I play all day and don't get anything done. Also, my boyfriend hates playing with me because I camp apparently. I prefer to call it winning.
Rule number one of writing: write what you know.
Rule number two of writing: don't let the first rule get in the way of a good story.

I used to like indoor rowing and am trying to get back into it but I'm not as fit as I used to be. Swimming. Studying and learning just for the sake of it-mainly history & philosophy. Cooking, baking and cake decorating. Babysitting any one (or all) of my 4 granddaughters

Mmm .. yup. Cooking. Also, traveling, hiking, yard work (I love yard work!), letter writing, and coming up with ideas for things I want to do I don't have the time or finances to do - like this new & used bookstore/internet cafe hubby and I have been designing for years. I guess you could say our stopping in at every used bookshop we find is a hobby.

Well this is interesting, i just found out that two of you are girls and I had assumed that you were men because of the avatars. Not that it matters here.

I like kayak fishing, scuba diving, motorcycles, hunting wild hogs with a muzzle loader or crossbow. Laying on the sandbar at the river across the road and drinking beer in the cool, shallow water is a good pastime.

I have the most mismatched hobby list ever.

History, languages, bass guitar, bodybuilding, and kickboxing. The last two are more recent additions. I've done archery and fencing in the past, and want to take up horse-riding but it's too expensive.

Reading (philosophy, history, science, politics, theory, fiction, poetry, plays), playing guitar, listening to music, being with friends, and Scotch - I'm very picky about Scotch, with my favorite being either Johnny Walker Black label or 12 year old Glenmorangie.

i suppose you could say so, if you consider all one does that isn't 'work-related' to be done 'for fun'... however, since i mentor and tutor fledgling writers of prose, poetry, movie and tv scripts, etc. full time, and am also a full time practicing philosopher/writer, then it's actually 'work-related'...

Oh boy... How to condense this:

      Beyond writing:
      1. Gaming, on PC and other consoles
      2. Music, namely Guitar and Singing, though I'd love to learn Piano if I could find the time
      3. Archery, now that the weather's starting to cooperate
      4. Reading, of course. Who doesn't love a good book?
      5. Strategy Games, such as Settlers of Catan or Magic: The Gathering.
      6. Live Action Role Playing. The geekiest thing I've seen and done, and sure as h*** love it.

Everyone here has such cool hobbies.

Horseback riding can be expensive ... and there are ways to cut the costs. If you are willing to spend the time, private barns may trade - in full or in part - several hours of mucking stalls and other work for a free lesson here and there. Additionally, hippotherapy clinics may exchange volunteer hours in working with kids with autism learn how to ride for a free lesson here and there. It is a fun hobby. You could have stopped by my house a couple weeks back and I would have been happy to teach you, but I'm afraid I just re-homed my girl. It wasn't the expense but the time.

My interests lie with video games, animals, cooking and learning about the past. I'm a mixed bag of different things.

Main thing that takes my free time up outside of writing is playing in a pop punk band: writing, practicing and recording and producing the stuff (or at least attempting to)

Interests outside of writing? Oh well... crocheting, counted cross stitch (though just started that), watching hubby play video games, my cats, cooking and umm.. rescuing abandoned dragons.
