    Supporter Membership - support WritingForums.Org

Discussion in 'Announcements' started by Daniel, Sep 8, 2007.

For the latest on Supporter Membership, features, and comment questions, please refer to the Supporter FAQ instead of the below post.

Premium Membership - Become a Supporter

Premium membership, better known as Supporter membership, is a way for you to help support WritingForums.Org.

By becoming a supporter you are donating to WritingForums.Org; as a thanks to your contribution, we've created Supporter membership, which provides some bonus features, which are detailed below. All donations go towards improving the site. This can be anything from paying for hosting costs, upgrading software, creating contest prizes, or developing new features. By supporting WritingForums.Org, you help us grow and add value to our site.

Supporters receive the following (new in bold):

    • No Advertisements
    • Private Forum access (discuss anything you want, request private reviews)
    • 1500 2000 5000 message PM box
    • Colored Username
    • Supporter Badge - [IMG]
    • Custom User Title (below username)
    • Can use Invisible Mode
    • 250 Album Picture Limit (instead of 50)
    • Can customize blog style

All premium members will be held to the same rules as all members.

    Purchase Supporter Membership Here.

It can also be found in your user control panel - on the bottom left, find the link that says "subscriptions." From there you can purchase the membership option. All donations will be sent through paypal.

In the subscription manager, you will see several options. You can purchase membership for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, a year, or 25 years (lifetime). Each option is cheaper for the longer you purchase it for. There will also be two options at the same price. The ones with the asterisk (*) are reoccurring payments. This means that they will automatically try to recharge you when the current subscription expires. So if you want to make a one-time donation, choose the option with no asterisk. If you want to make it for each selected period (i.e., send $5 every month), then choose the asterisk payment, which is the reoccurring option.

If you wish to donate more than the highest amount or wish to donate anonymously, you can send funds through paypal to support[at]writingforums[dot]org.

Feel free to ask any questions in this thread.

    Just to clarify:

    Payment is through paypal only.

If your using USD then your subscription should come into affect immediately. If you're using a different currency such as Euros, then I'll have to manually approve the payment (less than 24 hours). If you pay through you bank account it also takes several days to process the payment.

I think it's an excellent idea, I've just bought a 3 month subscription to trial it. I'm happy to support the site, I think it's such a great opportunity for writers of all types.

Do you know when the subscription will kick in?

I'm sorry about that. It should have been instant - I'm not sure what the problem is.

It's late where I'm at so I'm retiring for the night, but I'll fix this first thing tomorrow. Until then I've manually added you as a subscriber. Anyone else who chooses to subscribe before I fix this issue may also have to be manually added.

Anyway, thanks for subscribing and congrats on being the first subscriber. :p

Same. It would be nice to contribute to the site, but at the moment I just don't have the cash.

I will be sure to show my support with a 12 month membership within the next two weeks.

I just have to get a pay pal account first is all. :p

    Great idea though Daniel.

    Daniel,

Sorry to cause trouble; I'm still having trouble sending PMs, getting the same message every time I try to.

I only see that if I click the Delete Message button (when reading a PM) without checking the checkbox,

Exactly what steps are you taking to send a PM, and what browser and version are you using?

I was looking around for a checkbox that I might have been missing, but couldn't find anything. It's letting me send new PMs, but not respond to them.

In all honesty, I'm baffled as to what could possibly be causing this. I've sent a support request to the makers of the software. Perhaps they can give me some insight into the issue.

So you read a PM, and then what? You click on the gold button labelled Reply? Exactly when do you get the error?

And what Browser are you using? IE6? IE7? Firefox?

    You're welcome.

Also, for the premium membership, I'm 90% sure I solved the auto subscription issue. It should work now - if it doesn't, let me know.

Also, feel free to suggest additional features for supporting members. I won't guarantee anything, but I will consider all suggestions.

The private forum for supporters is where those who have joined up as a supporter can have private discussions about whatever we would like to talk about so long as it doesn't go against forum rules of course.
You can even ask for private reviews of your work as well.
Being a supporter of the forum I have found is really good. You get a larger inbox and the private forum really is an added bonus. Plus it is a great way to help make sure that the forum stays operational at the same time. :)

We just need some more members to become a supporter. It isn't actually that expensive. I found it rather cheap to join as a supporter for 12 months. I've been to other forums which are far more expensive to join as a paid member that is for sure.

In Australian dollars the subscription prices are currently as following:
They were approximately equivalent to the coinciding U.S. dollar amount.

Supporters will also get a supporter "badge" under their avatar and can now enter custom user titles. User titles are the titles that appear directly below the username.
