    The Strangers

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by ValianceInEnd, Jun 5, 2008.

Has anyone seen this little horror film yet? I just saw it today with my friend and we honestly could not stop laughing throughout the entire film. It was predictable and just down right awful without any story or coherent plot. Yet I am surprised to find that many people on youtube and imdb think it was terrifying and a good movie. I'm so confused right now...

I have not seen it; however, I will say this: different things scare different people. For example, I think horror movies that have to do with anything supernatural are hilarious. I don't believe in that stuff, and I can watch it with no problems. My best friend, on the other hand, gets scared out of her mind over ghosts and such. She can't watch those kind of movies. Period. But she can handle slasher films. I can't. They terrify me.

    People are just different.

Funny thing, I guess that is a good point. I laugh at all Slasher flicks, but can get genuinely creeped out by ghost stories.

I think they only work on me if it's a psych-thriller type of film. Things trying to jump out at me don't scare me whatsoever; nor does gratuitous gore.

That said, I think all people are freaked out by movies with creepy little girls. End of story.

Well put. Why do you think they keep relying on that strategy? :p

Sorry for bringing up an old topic... However, I just saw the movie. Scared me senseless, as I thought it would. I haven't been able to sleep without all the lights, TVs, etc. on in the house for two days now. In my defense, I scare really easily when it comes to this stuff.

The movie itself was pointless, but it still scared the hell out of me. To each his own.

Ugh, brining this old topic back and the painful memories... :p

It scared you? I can see how it would, but this movie honestly was downright pathetic.

I don't think I'm gonna see it. I rarely get scared by any movie, supernatural or realistic, but it looks kinda lame.

It wouldn't have scared me as much if my stupid friend didn't go knocking on my doors and windows that same night. xD That jerk.

Omg, now that is cruel! I'm sorry, but I just couldn't help but laugh completely out loud when I read that. I should watch it with someone who gets easily scared and do the same. :p

I think i've become immune to scary. I watched The Blair Witch Project recently, everyone said it was scary, i really just thought it was the most horribly lame thing ever. Even 1408 and Dead Silence and The Mist didn't scare me. I think i'm just too awesome to be scared.

    Don't worry. You're not alone. I guess movies just aren't scary. ;)
