    86th Poetry Contest Voting

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Poetry Contest Archives' started by Torana, Jun 21, 2009.

    The
    86th
    Poetry Contest,

    VOTING!

The contest is closed, and voting shall now commence!

This week's theme (courtesy of Gannon) is: Foam

Voting will end on 24th June 2009. Voting for yourself is entirely at your own disgression. I'm frankly sick of discussion on the matter, so any in here will be deleted. If you want to vote for yourself, go for it, but I personally wouldn't do that unless I genuinely believed mine was the best.

The winning poem will be stickied for a week in the poetry contest.

Oh, and if I catch anyone cheating, it'll be castration (or whatever I deem the female equivilent to be). You have been warned *evil laughs, whilst sharpening a carving knife...*

Seriously folks, don't do it. There is no prize to be won here but bragging rights, making cheating an exercise in pointlessness.

Best of luck to all entrants, and happy voting

Miss Meek Lady ~ W.K. Freely

    Frothy still foam resting lifelessly,
    Above still glassy water top

    Running shower head dances freely,
    Licking Miss Meek Lady nonstop

    Lovely and still, almost porcelain,
    Stunning in every little way

Youthful and pale, void of emotion,
    Tranquil in a vibrant decay

    Dying slight frame harshly convulsing,
    Miss Meek Lady’s torso freezes

    Glassy white eyes deathly revolting,
    Coldly, Death prolongs and teases

Frothy white foam starting to run,
Gushing from thin lips with a wrath

    Chewing her candy colored tongue,
Drown in a bloody, foamy bath

    the sun ~ vangoghsear

    like Venus,
    rises resplendent
    from the billowing
    ocean foam

    the listless land lay
    in wait to feel
    her warmth
    on grass and loam.

    she spreads her sultry
    golden arms
    to embrace
    each country,
    each village
    each home.

A Girl of Ocean Foam ~ TheHedgehog

    All alone in solitude,
    dwelling in my sandy home,
I was lonely with the waves,
and made a girl of ocean foam.

Saw her rise from the surf,
    walkin’ out onto the beach,
    hair wild like coastal surge,
    shinin’ like a solar beam.

Told the girl I needed her,
and she said she wanted me.
    So we lived together for
    the rest of eternity.

    Like The Sea ~ JenniferEva

    The waves keep coming
    You can't stop 'em
Frothy foamy water on the sea
Makes it hard to catch your footing
But never hard to stand your ground
When the waves crash upon the shore
Its sprays sea mist in the air
    Foam is everywhere
    Troubles keep coming
    You can't stop em
Easy to get a rise out of me
Makes it hard to keep your balance
But never hard to take a stand
When the world falls down hard upon you
Stand up and let it be
    Feel the reverberations
    As waves emerge and we
    Spread out like the sea
    Like the frothy foamy sea
Waves get big and sometimes scary
But once they crash you see
    Sea mist in the air
    Foam is everywhere
    Troubles fade to sea
And you are left with me
    Wading in the water
Crystal clear and I can see
I take your hand in mine
Pull our feet out from the sand
I see the sun is rising as we walk toward higher land

    Poison Love ~ Baywriter

    Delicate sipping, intricate sifting,
    the beads come out. Carbonation.
Passion seethes, bit by bubbly bit,
    and shamelessly, cool liquid
breathes on a tongue. Then bites,
sweet to electric acid. Scathed holes,
    once hollow, spew locked emotion.
    Hearts buckle. The drink foams,
    missing lips, hitting hard, and
    on our knees, we cry.

A State of Cleansing ~ jambon

A bloody redemption call on line one,
Apologies of the grandest kind he says,
His head is cleansed he proclaims,
Reassure us and awaken or be damned,

    What do you think Paul?

No? You must squeeze us harder,
    Let our forgiving juices ooze,
    And capture those dirty thoughts,
In a cushion of foam, down the drain.

    The order has been made,
    The crucifixion has been applied,
A warning to those tired eyes,
    Radiate in a morning shower,
And see the angels purest white.

    Wishing to Be ~ Evelyanin

    "I adore the foam,"
    Said the lovely maiden,
As she brushed her golden hair.

    "Like clouds in the sky
Or the sheep of the field,
    Could anything be more fair?"

    "You are so foolish!"
    Her many sisters laughed.
"Foam is so dirty and vile."

    "You should think instead,
    Of the flowers and pearls
Which will dress your hair in style."

    The maiden just sighed
    And left through the entrance,
As she went out to explore.

    She looked at the clouds,
    While she listened to sheep
Bleat on the hills by the shore.

    Her thoughts flew away,
    Interrupted by him
Who stood there so strong and proud.

    The prince of her dreams,
    More handsome than ever,
    Surrounded by a large crowd.

    Then tragedy struck,
And she pulled him from harm.
The maiden who loved him so.

    He had no idea,
It was she who saved him.
Oh, he really did not know.

    He loved someone else
    And forgot the poor girl
Who pledged all her love to him.

    When she heard the news
It broke her heart in two.
    Rapidly her light grew dim.

    Yet she couldn't bear
    To hurt her dearest love.
She left, so he could be free.

    The little sea-maid,
    Now and forevermore,
Part of the foam on the sea.

    L’écume ~ Gannon

A voiding of sputum on the crest of a wave,
and lapping of metaphor towards silted shores,
this embodiment of sullen, by-product waste
proof of natural rejection and maternal distaste.

A drain of impurity, of cold dross lather,
what dregs there are at the bottom of a bottle!
Come scum or froth, even indeterminate foam
proof my tolerant house is not its squalid home.
