Political writer, looking to polish my fiction writing

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Yelnoc, Dec 4, 2014.

Hi there! For the past few months, almost all of my writing has been political in nature. That's not good. I need to argue less and create more. That's why I've joined this writing forum-- I'm hoping for some a community to inspire, read, and (ruthlessly) critique me. I promise I'll do the same!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

    Welcome to the forum!
Here's our New Member Guide to get you started. There's also everything you need to know about posting writing for critique. :)

You can also do arguing here, but we try to focus more on the creative side. :p

    Have fun!

    Thanks everyone for welcoming me!

To be honest, I haven't completed a fiction project in about a year. But most of what I start to write can be broadly classified under Science Fiction. That can range from hard sci-fi to time travel to alternate history to near future settings which only barely make the Sci-Fi cut. I've also tried my hand at more general fiction character pieces, though I find developing characters is a weakness of mine. Usually I get sucked into world building and plot construction; by the time I get to the characters my interest has waned. That's something I need to work on.

Thanks for the link! I read through that earlier. Hopefully the feedback I've been giving in the Workshop qualifies as a "serious critique."
