    A question

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by Mans, Mar 12, 2013.

A writer would like to become a famous writer via his writing and another writer want to earn wealth, you do confirm which of these two kind writers ? which group of these writers You think you are from ?... Also which group of the writers you guess I am from ? :D

I write for the enjoyment of it, not for money. I find putting my thoughts down on paper to be therapeutic. So, I wouldn’t be one who seeks wealth or who seeks to be famous. I write because I wish to.

I have a 50/50 shot according to the two categories you listed to get what group you fall into right, so, I am gonna shoot for writing to be famous? :p

    And I forgot to say...

    Welcome... err... Mans.

Hmm, I am neither one of those you suggested. I write because I like creating my world and being absorbed in it, also writing makes me feel better when I am upset. The most fun for me is creating characters. Though, becoming famous later on will not harm anyone, I mean I always imagine myself in an interview about a successful book that has broke the records. :D

I don't know you much to guess what you are, but from your sunglasses I'd say the famous group. lol

I'd be lying if I said I didn't hold some aspirations of making money or becoming famous because of my writing (I'm grounded enough in reality to realise how slim a possibility that is) but in the main, I'm doing it because it's what I do. For years I've been writing story lines for role-playing games only to have my carefully crafted work stomped all over by unruly players!!...writing for me is about control, it's my world, MY WORLD!!

I just added this to my list of favorite quotes in the movie quotes thread.
Very funny and somewhat true when I think about it.
    Thanks for the laugh :)

("...by my remaining anonymous you see my answer unequivocally before you now..." ventured the goblin who often interpreted fame and fortune as both vain and cheap respectively, adding "...ah yes, medusa would set her published authors in dated stone at a price perhaps, but for those who remain anonymous like myself there is no ageing process, no compromises, nothing external then, instead there is a journey to self in posts perhaps...", where the goblin thought back at moment to the line what you do does you back, and then smiled, asking "...don't you want to get the most from posts rather than chasing after that elsewhere, I mean the 3% that still read books seem hardly worth the candle where there are more readers here than most elsewhere today...")

neither applies to me... as i'm a practicing philosopher, i write to hopefully enlighten some of my readers, to some extent...

btw, you should ask a moderator to move this thread to the lounge, where it belongs... this section is only for introducing oneself, which i think you did in another thread...

    I just write for myself.
I don't want fame and money. Well, to be honest, money wouldn't be that bad, but I'm not trying to earn any via my writing.

I write because I believe I have stories to tell - though I find it hard to finish them. If one of my stories sold well and good, if not, ah well

I write because I enjoy it; I'd like some bit of 'fame'/recognition, but fully intend to use a pseudonym because I don't want it that much; I definitely want to make at least some money from it, or I wouldn't be pursuing trade publication. If I didn't care about money, I'd stick with fanfic.

Neither group, although it would be nice to become wealthy off my writing. (I'd rather pass on fame, since public figures are scrutinized). I write hoping to leave a positive change in a reader's life.

    As for what you are...fame?
