I just recently decided to go into horror writing as a hobby, but I was thinking that it would be nice to have a cool pen name to write under. I want to use a pen name because 1) My actual name doesn't really inspire the idea of a horror fiction author and 2) a good pen name would add some mystery to my writing style, making my stories more effective. I'm currently brainstorming some pen names, but I was wondering if anyone here had some advice about coming up with a good name, or some ideas for one.
I did my porn name once. You know, you take your middle name and add it to the name of the street you grew up on, which for me, comes out as Steven Hollywood. Doesn't sound too much like an author, but what a name!
My username here is a candidate I have for a pen name. My actual name is Irish, and let's put it this way, Saoirse, which is not my name but is an Irish one, is pronounced 'Shur-shuh', though the actress prefers 'sheer-shuh'. Outside of England or Ireland, I've got a slim chance of anyone pronouncing it right and if I do get published outside of those countries, I'm gonna be sick of correcting people. Two years in France was bad enough. S A are my initials, but Lee is an ancestor's name on my mother's side. I thought of Samantha Lee, but if anyone shortens it to 'Sam' it's going to sound too much like Stan Lee.
