I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by HorusEye, Oct 9, 2009.

'I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream' is a short story written by Harlan Ellison in 1967.

Apparently, he wrote the story in just one night and made little changes from his first draft. Still, the story won him a Hugo Award in 1968.

There's two things I loved about the story. One, the surrealism of the narrative...

Two: how this story, a sci-fi short story from 1967, tells a tale similar in concept, at least as mindbending, and far more horrifying than that of the 2000 film 'The Matrix'.

The story can be found online if you know how to google. You can read it in 15 minutes.
