Anonymity in the Short Story Contest? Cast your vote!

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Short Story Contest Archives' started by Lemex, Jun 23, 2013.

The idea has been raised in this thread:

    http://www.writingforums.org/showthread.php?t=62680

Of anonymous entries into the short story contest. That all entries are sent to me via PM and I post them unnamed. Is this something we as a community want? Time to decide!

I'm curious, for anyone who votes "no," what your reasoning is. I may be missing something. The only downside I see is that it is more work for Lemex, or whoever is in charge of receiving and posting entries. Is there another rationale?

I voted yes, too. I think there's too much an urge to vote based on popularity. Or worse, dismissing someones work because they are
    on a hot streak.
Plus, it would be interesting to see if people could guess the writer just by their style.

I voted yes. It is, however, a greater burden on the contest organizer.

    I vote yes.

I true contest by our peers should be anonymous so there isn't a bias.

I voted yes, because of the popularity aspects. Sometimes we have debates around here and even though most of the members have respect for differing viewpoints, I wouldn't want that to be a consideration in voting.

Plus it gives an opportunity for the mods and admins to enter inCognito!

This is the reason I voted yes.

Now if only we could get as many people voting on the actual contest entries as we have for this poll... :)
