Are there any members willing to critique my writing?

Discussion in 'Revision and Editing' started by punchthedamnkeys, Mar 4, 2013.

I will send you samples of my writing... I'm only a chapter into my book, and want some honest feedbacks with those with experience in writing. I want to know if what I'm trying to say is portrayed clearly enough that you can see it for yourself, if i'm describing things well enough, if i'm trying too hard, etc.

Please let me know. This is important. It would really mean alot... I really need to know where I stand.

There is a review forum here; you can post in it once you've reviewed others' work.

Personally, I've found it works better for me if I write the whole work before I get feedback or try to edit it, otherwise I get too bogged down with perfecting it and never finish.

If you've got a particular idea, phrase, character issue, expression or similar that you've used to ask about, ask away.

You can post 1 piece for review for each 2 constructive reviews you give to others' work in the writing workshop section of the forum.

that's exactly what this site is here for... just don't post more than brief excerpts of anything you hope to have published one day...

if you want private feedback, in addtion to posting on the site, i mentor aspiring writers full time and will be glad to give you feedback/help/info/advice... i'm always just a mouse click away...

    welcome to the forums!

    love and hugs, maia

How does the constructive review work, because I have reviewed a few pieces in that forum but still haven't got the option to start a new thread yet.

You must Read The Rules. Your answer lies within.

Private critique is a professional service, and you may not post requesting professional services. See the site rules.

    ^ I didn't know that, I've been here for like a week, I apoligize..

How exactly does the reviewing sub-forum worked? I looked it up, I see that I have to have 2 reviews on others' writing for every piece of writing I want reviewed. I've done that, but still the "post a new thread" button is still absent. Is there a waiting period?

Can someone explain that to me please. Thanks.

14 days from signup. Roughly. Could take a little longer.
