    Pineapple or Egg?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by The Bard of Wigan, Mar 20, 2009.

Which one do you prefer over your gammon? I have egg every time. A hot egg on hot gammon is far better than cold pineapple. And the added bonus is that you can dip your bread in your egg & cause it to pop all over the gammon.

    Egg everytime !!

Eggs! Argh!!!! Can't stand them. And what's this Northern thing about putting a sliced or halved boiled egg in salad????
Therefore (she said calming down) it's pineapple for me. Not cold though, that sounds like someone being lazy, it can be warmed in place on top of the gammon near the end of the cooking time. Try sprinkling it with brown sugar, too, takes the acid factor down a notch! :)

Neither have I. I just looked it up. Blech. I wouldn't eat it either way.

    Sounds awful, but tastes nice.

A bit like jam & cheese sandwiches. :)

I have a fondness for wensleydale (sp?) too, although I have to nip up over the border to buy it ;)

Egg all the way. Little bit runny, so you can dip your chips in it. I'm not a big fan of cooked pineapple unless it's in a sweet & sour, though.

    ...I'm hungry now.

Actually, I can't even stand the smell of anything from a pig. I can eat pepperoni because it barely resembles meat anymore, but that's about it.

I was still talking about the original subject, which according to my dictionary, is a kind of pig meat.

I've never eaten that (I'm not a big fan of pig, either), but if I did and I had to choose between pineapple or egg with it, I would have to go with egg...but that's just because I'm allergic to pineapple. Plus it just sounds like it would be better with egg.

And jam and cheese sandwiches? Sounds horrifying. I might have to try that.

I'd probably go with eggs, sunny or poached.

I'd honestly have either. After having a tropical pig burger, I think pineapple would go really well on Gammon as well! :p mmmmm!

Oh, Bard? Honey and Cheese sandwiches taste SOOOOOOOOOO much better!

My Dad and my Grandparents back in Govan in Glasgow would be turning in their graves if I betrayed the Jam & Cheese tradition.

I'll maybe have a sneaky wee go with honey after. ;)
