My friends. I maintain links with my relatives but my true 'family' is made up of people outside my bloodline. Gives me high hopes for when I adopt though, so can't complain. If you could change (or remove) one aspect of your culture, what would it be?
The English: their cultural arrogance and utter lack of interest in foreign languages and cultures The Hong Kongers: their xenophobia, esp their hostility against the mainland Chinese The Czechs: their complete lack of manners at times, esp their habit of blocking people's way or knocking into people on the street despite having plenty of space! these are general statements. I'm aware this isn't everyone in any of these cultures If you could be raised in any other culture/country, what would it be and why?
Native American. Their cultures are so beautiful and peaceful. Everyone seems really connected to one another too. But I was raised with zero culture. Maybe that's why I love any culture, any family traditions, because I had none growing up. lol What one thing (any thing) are you borderline obsessed with and why?
Those "Brits" who don't identify with being English generally HAVE to learn a foreign language...English! I worked with one Englishman who maintained that the Welsh were hostile to foreigners because, whenever he walked into a Welsh pub, they STARTED to talk Welsh to each other so as to exclude him.
It's only in the really rural and out of the way areas of Britain were people still speak their native language (Irish/Scottish/Welsh) on a daily basis, but pretty much everyone speaks English fine. Though, saying that, in some parts of England, the accents and dialects can be so thick and complex that the average person doesn't understand even the English. When I was at university, I remember seeing people from London and exchange students from America having difficulty understanding the scousers. Haha!
Grammar and spelling. I know I come across as way too much of a pedant in those threads here, but I can't help it. XBox or PS4?
I like Italian food. (I like all sorts but I'm not keen on spicy hot) What do you hate about technology?
The loss of privacy and how I can possibly have my life ruined by someone on the other side of a computer screen. Have you ever won a large gamble?
Does marrying the right guy count as a large gamble? Otherwise, no, since I don't gamble. I do sometimes play on those coin machines though when I see one, which happens maybe once a year or less, and from those, I may have won a couple of pounds once lol. Death by drowning or fire?
If reasonably intense, fire. No more pain once it goes through your nerves, whereas drowning... you're panicking until your brain finally runs out of oxygen. If you were forced to get a tattoo right in the middle of your forehead on pain of death (let's say it has to be at least the size of a postage stamp), what would you choose?
Aang arrow tattoo, or Harry's scar. What would you do if you found out you were an alien from a distant planet that was destroyed by an evil galactic space emperor?
count my lucky stars what do you do when your brain's come to a standstill, the cogs are steaming, and all your thoughts are nothing but mush?
With every fiber of my being! If you were offered ten million dollars to spend however you want, but you'd have to be alone (no friends or family) for the rest of your life, would you take it?
No. Friends and family are priceless to me. Being truly lonely is one of the worst feelings in my opinion, especially the homesickness feeling. If you had to chance to visit any period in time for one day, what and where would it be?
In the future: I'm a comfortably established, published author, and I'm in NYC for business, with a little spare time for a leisurely walk in Central park, and maybe even visit the Met or Carneige Hall for a concert at the end of the day. Exact date unknown, but I'm guessing it's a little way off yet Same question: if you had the chance to visit any period in time for one day, what and where would it be?
The time when Jesus walked the earth and witness everything for myself (along with a magical ability to suddenly understand everything in Hebrew and Aramaic) A reincarnation question: pretend you believe in it even if you don't - what/who do you think you were in your last life?
I'd like to think I was an Edwardian gillie, for some reason. The life-style always appealed to me. Do you believe aliens have visited us?
Not Northrop Frye, @Lemex ? I believe because of a show I watched on this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zigmund_Adamski They couldn't identify chemicals on his body. Do you journal, why or why not?
Absolutely. I think you'd have to be naive to think they haven't. There is tons of compelling evidence if you know where to look, and I'm not talking about some Discovery Channel documentary. If you could learn any language, even extinct languages, which one would you learn?
French because it's the other official language in my country and there's so much I miss out on within my own borders because of it. It's also well distributed globally. Do you journal, why or why not?
