There are other ways too, but I get where you`re coming from, be careful and they probably wouldn`t see. I have thought of another way but most of my family aren`t into most of the online networking sites so they wouldn`t get picked up anyway.
Hmm, not sure I want to give that up at the mo. It`s just an idea and I`m not sure it will work, although I`m fairly sure it will. Plus I`m thinking of going down the digital route myself so it might be a help. Any advantage is good these days.
No I meant, what other ways do you think Amazon have of discovering connections? I'm not convinced because it's obviously so prevalent among self-published books.
Ah, sorry, wrong end of the stick there. Definitely social media, FB, Twittter, Insta, all those others. Plus there`s Goodreads and those devoted to reading, and even maybe writing forums, although I can`t see there being many connections there to find. But it is easy to find friends and family when they are all over the internet. K.P Kraul said they use their own databases, buying patterns, credit useage, etc. There are probably other ways. As has been mentioned they are very cagey about their methods.
Just for a little update, here he is on publishizer, with a project that must be bugged. Even as terrible as Saccoccio is, he must have one of those Amazon reviewers ready to read his new book, right? But according to my browser his project has 0 backers and 0 pre-orders. But the gem of the matter is his "Competing and Complimentary Books" section, where he rips on a bunch of (much better) authors for not writing "magick" "correctly." If you didn't get enough of him on the goodreads page, and lord knows, I didn't; it's worth taking a look at. https://publishizer.com/prophecy-hill-and-the-paper-sea/
When I read a review of anything on-line, I always pass the 5 star reviews and the one or two stars reviews and focus on the middle ones. Those ones seem to be more honest.
I took a gander at his page on publishizer... I either need more coffee or something extra in my coffee to continue reading anymore.... Lets go with something extra
I had to stop reading his crap at this point... "Rothfuss just happens to be more initiated than most fantasy writers, and since his system is base off of real life magick, it's one of the best." Saccoccio really likes the word "initiate" He uses some form of the word every other sentence.
Preserve us from self-appointed Prophets, Walkers of the Path, Initiates, Seekers and Bearers of the One Truth, and Dylan Saccoccio. His head is so far up his own ass that the snake Ouroboros is jealously re-evaluating his approach to the philosophy of self-consumption. In only a few more books, Saccoccio will have vanished into his own bowels, never to be heard from again.
He's only hot if he keeps his mouth shut, figuratively speaking. When he says anything, it's appropriate to laugh uproariously and beg him to tell that one about the Initiate and the Truth and the Path One Must Walk Alone again - that's a good one!
He has nice eyes but it looks like he hasn't washed his hair in a month. And his facial hair is... bad. He serves The Truth.
Oh my god, I missed that bit (didn't get that far). It's the FIRST PARAGRAPH and I want to get my red pen out.
read the first page of this junk..."magnificent, monumental walls?!" Please! Reminds me a little of the arrogant fantasy writer Jaq D. Hawkin's Dance of the Goblins. She went so far as to promote it, rather embarrassingly, on Dragon's Den with full-blown delusion. To this day she is convinced of its mastery.
I got about to the beginning of the fight scene with the lothkir(sp?) and I was rather bored. A bit too much head hopping, not enough description after the first page, and a lot of scenes nothing is said or done.
11 pages of comments, sure it's all been said. I'll simply leave a "full of himself much?" My biggest issue was that he felt it was immoral to post a bad review for a book. Just because you wrote something doesn't equate to people should just start handing you money.
"...the wonderful notes from a concertina..." Has this guy ever heard a concertina? I used to have one. It did not play wonderful notes. It sounded like a chorus of kazoos backed by a swarm of mosquitoes. "...harmonizing their pride along with their heritage." "...the long trek back to whence they came." "...waived the old man off." (Learn the difference between wave and waive, Dylan!) I could go on. This guy writes like a teenager, an amateur with no experience, no skill. It all looks like first draft stuff to me.
