    Aviation Business Name Help :)

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Andrew_yak, Oct 15, 2009.

I am a professional pilot starting a pilot contract business. I will be operating as a sole proprietorship but Im as creative as a rock....

I need a aviation related business name, something that simple, catchy and original. It could reflect my geography (pacific northwest) or my business (Pilot Contract) or be completely random.

If anybody is good at brain storming these kind of things, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

I remember from somewhere, many moons ago, that phrases, slogans and the like, that use three words are more catchy, for some reason.

So Gannons would fit that criteria, is certainly catchy, and to use a phrase from an annoying advert "Does exactly what it says on the tin!".

Remember to put whatever name you decide through whatever counts as your countries' business registry.

I just checked in the UK with business link and Sky High Solutions has not been registered, but as you're in the U.S. try

    http://www.business.gov/register/business-name/

    Good luck.

are you really planning to make a business out of just writing contracts for pilots?... why would they need you to write them?... and who are they between, freight/traveling clients and the pilot?...

or does 'pilot contract' mean something else?

A pilot contract is somebody who will fly you for a price. If you've ever heard the term "contract killer", it is basically somebody who will be paid to kill somebody for you. A hitman.

Perhaps you could give a little more details about, say, your plane? an outfit? do you have some sort of gimmick?

mammamaia, Sorry I guess i didnt make my situation very clear. I am a pilot. Contracting myself out to airlines. Its very common in my industry and benificial for the airline because they are able to terminate employment without notice, dont have to pay benifits ect, its great for me because I decide who I work for and what I get paid (within reason ) I live In Canada and currently operate a small twin engine aircraft. as far as gimmics not really.

It sounds like you have two different businesses: 1) a charter twin that can be hired and 2) yourself, as an independent contractor (pilot for hire). I would suggest you use one name for your charter service and just your own name for the independent contractor aspect.

As a charter service, play to your strengths. Why would people hire your aircraft? The first things that come to mind are travel to places that major airlines don't go, and freedom of scheduling (rather than being a slave to airline schedules). A third might be to use your service as a marketing tool for major hunting/fishing lodges . . . i.e. you would establish contracts with those lodges to be the exclusive charter service delivering their clients direct from major airline hubs. The lodges would then advertise that service as part of their marketing plan, hence, work for you.

    Charter service names/slogans:

Limo Air, a Charter Service - "We take you where airlines don't."
Freedom Air, a Charter Service - "For people who keep their own schedules."
Executive Air, a Charter Service - "Just don't tell congress!"

    (and my favorite)

Mile-High Club Air, a Charter Service - "We offer twins."

so, wouldn't that be a 'contract pilot business' not a 'pilot contract' one?

Aviation names aren't ever original. Just name it something about your region and it'll be fine.

Edit: ^That's from Joel. He didn't realize he was logged on with my name.

Both Hands on the Joystick Piloting?
Up in the Air Pilot Contracting?
Precious New Wind. (Just the initials of Pacific North-West.)
    Two Wings One Heart?
    Fire Flight?

I don't know really... I have wracked my brain and come up with these rather poor offerings...
