Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by mammamaia, May 3, 2013.

i didn't have to do that till a couple of days ago... i just kept the opening page in my favorites menu and i was able to go right there without having to sign in again...

is this happening to anyone else?

It seems to remember me when I'm on my home computer.

It remembers me... did you recently clear your internet history? Or switch to using 3.5? I just blame 3.5 for everything now... :p

That machine ghost really has it in for you , Mammamaia. You've been here too long, I suppose, for me to suggest the basic, "check the keep-me-signed-on box" when you log on?

Have you considered switching to the WF 3.2 we were discussing in the other thread?
I finally found the option that lets me keep my remembered passwords when I clear cookies. But it would still clear the "remember me" on any forums.

I would try clearing all cookies/histories. It's possible that your cookie (for this site) got corrupted.

Your browser might be set to automatically clear all cookies, saved passwords, etc. after a certain interval.

I always clear internet history and cookies when I close the browser, so that I log in fresh every time anyway. But then I use a password manager (not the one built into Firefox) to do my logging-in.

When you clear cookies, you are flushing your login status.

Most cookies are beneficial, and newer versions of operating systems and browsers are much better at disabling or de-clawing those few that are not.

When I first joined this forum I was on a mobile connection tethered to my laptop, and it would frequently give me trouble with staying logged in even within a single session. Once I was back on a broadband landline the issue disappeared. It made me wonder if the server hosting this forum and/or the forum software isn't happy about less stable connections and would reset them given enough conditions to do so. What those conditions could be I have no idea though.

Your browser might be clearing cookies / browsing history automatically after a certain period of time (1 day, 1 week, etc.) In Firefox, Click Firefox > Options > Options > Privacy and you can change the interval there.
