The merriment of sounds and sight
    By Calrootpeg

    The merriment of sounds and sight;
    not by ears and eyes,
nor captured by prose or paint,
    within,
    feeling,
    the celebration begins
    when pain goes away.

    WHAT I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS
    By Palmer

“Oh boy! It's Christmas Eve!” said little Susan with delight
“Oh joy, it’s Christmas Eve.” muttered grumpy old Steve

She ran around and hurried down
He groaned a sound and made a frown

As she lit her tree all bright
Still in bed, he didn’t leave

“I wonder what I got this year?”
“Why is it that each year!?”

    She giggled with a smile
His yell was heard from miles

“A remote control, a trip to the pole, or maybe it’s a reindeer?”
“A block of coal that someone stole; now isn’t that queer!”

“What’s in the box and all it contains?”
“Why not a rock, or bad Champagne?”

    She kept on guessing, curious
    His voice kept getting furious

“Whatever it is, or whoever it’s from, I really won’t complain!”
“Whoever you are, or wherever you’re from, you’re driving me insane!”

Inside the box was a choo choo train:
Inside the box was a yellow plane:

“Here’s your wish my little Steve.
“Here’s your gift my dearest Susan!”

I sent you coal, but coal from a train, and I hope that you’d receive this.”
You’ll reach your goal, you’ll fly to Spain, and your journey’s just begun!”

She looked at the date, and there it read:
He looked at the date, and there it read:

    “Nineteen forty-nine”
    “Two-thousand and nine”

She let out a sigh and told herself
    Thinking of retiring, he thought

“Well I guess it isn’t mine!”
“I guess Spain should be fine!”
