    The Halloween Shut-In Thread

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Milady, Oct 31, 2008.

Well, my younger siblings have gone out for a resplendent evening filled with goofy costumes and sugar highs. They left me here: after all, I am a big girl now, with big girl things to do, like essays and chemistry write-ups.

Also, aren't I too old to want to go trick-or-treating? Well, yes, but does that mean I have to sit here alone, missing everything? Couldn't I slap on that costume I've been working on and wander around, feeling all happy and stuff? I feel rather neglected... like my childhood just zoomed by, blowing raspberries.

The good news is, NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow. That's also the bad news. Guess I better finish those essays.

Anybody else stuck inside on All Hallow's Eve?

Wow... Steaming puddle of piss, aye? :D

I always did like trick-or-treating. I thought it was fun and I guess I enjoyed the chance to get into costume without anyone thinking it strange. I like it loads better than Thanksgiving which has always been an unexplainably uncomfortable holiday for me. I thinks it's because we were never a sit-at-the-table-for-dinner kind of family. It always just felt weird.

I'm stuck inside a haunted house, pretending to be a zombie. haha
It goes late, but I've scared a bunch of people, so it isn't all that bad.

Harsh language there, Banzai. You might scare my inner child.

Such a different version of stuck! Well, at least you get to be in the Halloween spirit.

    Oh, wait... pun...

I just think having a day where you encourage the chavs to do more acts of vandalism falls neatly into the moronic category...

ok. for all you shut ins.
here is a good halloween trick.
we lived in a big old brick house set back from the road.
supposed to be haunted until we moved into it.
one year my father put a ball covered in a white sheet on
the end of a fishing pole.
He laid down on the roof of one of the bay windows.
whenever someone would turn into our yard he would drop
the ball and kids would go running.
One lady actually came around the other street and told my
mother that someone was tossing my baby sister off the roof.
That was when my mom figured out why nobody was coming
to the front door and she only had kids at the back and side doors.
Dad had fun my sister who was on the roof with him had a great time.
We all had fun the next day raking the yard and finding all the candy
the kids tossed as they took off.
What tricks did you guys pull on Halloween.

In Puerto Rico, the trick-or-treat song is:

    Halloween!
    Trick-or-treat!
    Dame chavos, no mani!

The last line means give money, not peanuts! :D

I always really look forward to Halloween. But it never lives up to my hopes.

Tonight, I was supposed to meet some friends at the local coffee shop, and we would figure out what to do from there. I got there at 8pm.

Two of them went to a party that they knew I didn't want to go to because of certain people I didn't want to associate with (i.e. and abusive ex boyfriend who can never resist an opportunity to cause drama).

So my boyfriend and I played Scrabble while waiting for our other friends. It got to be 11pm. Feeling pissed and forgotten, we decided to leave. As soon as we got to the car, our two other friends pulled up.

So we chatted for a little while, and came home, and I paid my credit card bills, and now I'm going to bed.

    Happy #^$&ing Halloween.

I stayed home tonight to hand out candy while my wife accompanied our granddaughter. It's raining so the turn out was very low, and as usual, I bought too much candy (all kind I like of course). Towards the end of the respectable trick-or-treating hours, I answered the door to see a lone person in costume. He looked DOWN at me and said (in his highest voice) "Trick or treat." I couldn't believe my eyes.

The brief conversation went like this:

I sarcastically said, "Shouldn't you shave before you visit people's houses?"

He replied, "I'm sorry sir. I know I'm too old for this but I just hate growing up. I'll understand if you say 'no' to me, but I love candy so I did this."

Hmmm, I thought. At least this kid's being honest.

"Alright, here ya go." I dropped a couple little candy bars into his sack and watched as he got back into his car and drove to the next house!

Stayed in didn't get any little kids, but that was expected.
We live on a dark street so we have had in total 4 kids in the
10 years we have lived in this house.
Didn't even see any kids walking the main road either.
We watched Halloween town 4 and Journey to the centre of the Earth.
Both kids movies but kind of fun.

In my metropolis of Singapore, where I dwell, there is no Halloween but working, and ultimately studying, virtually the heyday of everyday.
The hectic day can be resolved by dreaming of Halloween,it is a gusto.
