What roles would it consist of? Would it have a CEO? Owner? Lawyers? Executives? Currently doing research for a short story and I can't seem to find a simple breakdown of what an adult film company would consist of. I know we have producers and performers but what else? Any help is appreciated!
research eh? well, I think they are a lot like most companies. The bigger the company the more people it takes to run it but when you have a smaller company there are fewer people who have to double up on jobs. what those jobs are I couldn't say.
I imagine that it's made of the same stuff as any film company, save for pornstars and a Custodian of Records.
See, that's why it's hard to tell what really makes up a large film company. Thankyou. I'll take a better look at general film companies.
I did a little bit of editing for the adult industry way back when and the truth is that it really depends on the company. They can be as big as a real film production company with a proper staff of execs on top of a proper multi-person shoot crew but they can also be literally two people with a camera. A real company type one will have have a leader of some sort (more likely to be an MD than a CEO but still) and everyone else is likely to be a freelancer/consultant. Crews and even stars are mostly hired per project, not on salary and they do other work elsewhere. Instead of having their own departments the company will use an outside accountant and lawyer and whatever else because it's too expensive to hire a person just to sit and do nothing much of the time. Some are run out of actual offices but many aren't. You can set it up however you want and it'll be believable to be honest.
It depends on the size of the business. It could vary, but at the larger scale it would have most of the standard business positions including CEO and downward. As previously stated, most of the work is contractual. This include for the girls, photographers, videographers, soundmen, etc. They may use certain people more often, but the less staff employed the easier it is to make profits. They do have quality insurance, as well though. This means a manager that looks over endless loops of a flesh on flesh, eventually jaded, to make sure that it's acceptable before being published.
