Red, floppy (but straight), kind of greasy looking, chin-length hair. Pale white skin. Minor acne problem. Sea-green eyes with brown flecks in them. Pouty lips. Left ear pierced (always wears same 14k gold stud. Nothing fancy). Well-built arms that go unnoticed when they’re not flexed. Dark circles under eyes from lack of sleep. Callused fingers. Lawrence was born, Jordon and Terri Lawrence were on their way to Portland, Oregon to visit old retired friends of the family. By family, of course, I mean the circus family. Two retired clowns from Wallace T. Peabody’s Cirque de Crème Brulée, Winnie and Bucky, were eager to see Jordon and Terri once more before the baby was born. However, rolling through some town near (or rather, within 100 miles of) Boise, Idaho, Terri’s water broke. Jasper K. Lawrence was a month early, but very healthy. The Lawrence family didn’t make it to Oregon on time. They sent a letter to Terri’s sister to tell her they couldn’t care for him because they were so in love with circus life that they didn’t have the time to instill morals and things like that. So, Trina Lovewell gave Jasper a home. Jasper began to speak early. By the time he was a year old he could say “Happy New Year!” and “Happy Birfday!” And he hasn’t shut up since then. Jasper made friends with Keeley on the first day of kindergarten. Keeley’s last name was McClaude, fatefully putting her at the table with Jasper, his cousin Raechel, and the smelly kid whose name the three of them had forgotten (luckily, this kid moved and they didn’t have to endure his body odor for more than the first two weeks of their academic careers). Keeley had heard Jasper’s name called during attendance and said “Jasper’s a funny name. Why’d your parents name you that?” He had heard her name called and so in turn, he asked “Keeley’s a funny name too. Maybe your parents and my parents were friends and they had a funny name book.” This made Keeley giggle and they’d been friends since. Jasper had always been the type to talk to the girls, rather than chase them, or pull their hair, or ruin their crayons. He was the charming type of kid, that everyone loved to have around. He was always finding ways to get himself into trouble, but managed to smooth talk his way out of it again. Because Raechel always called Jasper “Jess” for short, everyone in school called him Jess as well, which never bothered him. Keeley was the only one who still called him “Jasper.” To him, this had always been a special thing that bonded them, and so he never told her to call him “Jess” instead. Keeley has been Jasper’s crush for his entire life. But their friendship has prevented him from pursuing anything more than that. He secretly despises her current boyfriend, Brett, and sees no reason why anyone would date him. He’s egotistical and argumentative and just… a bastard, really. And he’s also the reason that Jasper hasn’t seen Keeley in about a month. She’s been so busy with her workload at East Stroudsburg University and having sex in her dorm with Fratboy Brett. She’s been so busy she has taken to calling him “Jess,” which shouldn’t bother him. But it really does. Now, instead of being his usual fun-loving self, Jasper is moping about the small town, Kunkletown, Pennsylvania where he lives. He goes to work at Wal*Mart in Bethlehem as a cashier for 8 hours a day, just to come home and mope some more. He sees Keeley once in a while, but always with that bastard Brett attached to her hips. Jasper has found friendship in two new college friends, Molly and Trafton. But since they are a couple, they often depress Jasper, despite their friendly advice and trying to help. Typical Day in the Life of Jasper K. Lawrence: Since classes have ended for the summer, Jasper’s typical week consists of at least 4 work days. On said work days, he gets up, pulls on khaki cargo pants and a navy blue shirt, grabs his Wal*Mart name tag, tries to comb his hair, fails, and then gets into his black ’97 Plymouth Neon and drives the 45 minutes to Wal*Mart. He puts on that fake interested air, walks into Wal*Mart and talks briefly with the greeter, Alix (a 57 year old gay man who constantly talks about he greets better than ANYONE else… “Evar!”), before climbing the steps to the break room, Deana’s (personnel) office, and the lockers. He stuffs his lunchbox into the fridge, clocks in, and walks back to the front of the store, where either Jes, Suzy, Carolyn, Tina, Christina, or Ezekial will tell him which register is his for the day. It’s always either 9 (the cigarette aisle) or 1 (the 12 items or less aisle with the broken card reader). He stands there pretending to be thrilled that he works at Wal*Mart for 2 hours between his 15 minute breaks and 1 hour for lunch. Then he goes back home and rehashes the experience to his Aunt Tree. Aunt Tree always asks why he’s boring. He tells her he doesn’t know and goes to his room. Where he plays World of Warcraft for an hour or so before getting bored. Then he reads or listens to the mixed CD that Keeley gave him for his 16th birthday (which has her introducing each song like a radio DJ, only personalized just for him). He eventually falls asleep for an hour before waking up and doing the same thing again. Unless of course it is one of his days off. On a day off, he tries to find time to hang out with Molly and Trafton or even Keeley if she’s not busy with Brett the Douchebag. Usually, he ends up beating his cousin, Louis in some video game or another, or helping Raechel and Aunt Tree in the garden if the weather is nice enough. He likes to relax on his days off. Action: Eleven cashiers were scheduled Thursday afternoon. Due to the store’s remodel, however, there were only ten cash registers. Since he was late, Suzy had Jasper doing returns. He hated doing returns. It was boring. He’d walk to the returns buckets, empty them into a cart, jog the cart to the department that corresponded with the items, then search endlessly for the spot in which these items belonged, then jog back to the buckets at the front of the store, and do it again with another department. The jogging made him both sweaty and tired. He much preferred the repetitive motion of swiping objects across the scanner and getting them into bags. Dialogue: “Hey Jess!” Alix, the Wal*Mart greeter was grinning from ear to ear. “Er… hey Alix! How was the cake that uh… Tina made you?” Jasper was always amused by talking to Alix. He knew Alix was gay, which was no problem, except that he was also kind of a pervert. He would hit on Jasper every time he walked in the door. It always made him uncomfortable, but it also made him laugh. Being an aspiring writer, he couldn’t hope for better material than the characters he met in Wal*Mart. “It was DEE-vine! Jasper just chuckled to himself as he walked up the stairs. Thought: ‘Who does Keeley think she is anyway? You don’t blow off your friends for – oh crap, I scanned that twice. Shoot something scanned after that. Okay… I hit void and then scan the thing again? Yes. Alright. Got it. But you don’t just blow off your friends for stupid drunken frat boys named Brett. Even if they do have more muscles, clearer skin, and a tan. What does that meat head have that I don’t? I’m smarter. I’m a better friend. I’ve been there for her consistently through the 14 years we’ve known each other. I can’t believe he got her to sleep with- Damnit! No UPC on this one…’ “Ezekial! Could you do a price check for me?” ‘I just can’t believe he got her to sleep with him. What a nasty jerk. Well, if that’s who she wants? Fine. He can have her.’

He usually puts in into a pony tail to keep it out of the way and he doesn’t really care about his appearance. He has warm brown eyes. He is about 6'2", lean but not gawky or scrawny, with short, dark black hair. His dark eyes give the impression of someone who is unusually wise and father-like, but also rather sad. The Prince is talented for his age, well-versed in history, literature, and arithmatic, and also an accomplished swordsman, gunman, and horseback rider. However, he is not the best, but that is of little matter to him. I'm under the impression that this thread is for the writer's benefit, not the readers, so please excuse me for taking up a bit of space. These four have been weighing down on me for some time and the opportunity to flesh them out is welcome. These characters are for the extended piece Revelations, something that has and will spend a lot of time in production. Hawke: Male: Born in the ruins of Eden after the First Uprising Physical appearance of a human male in his late twenties. Dark complexion, strong musculature but more Bruce Lee than Arnold Schwarzwhatever (Sorry, Arnie. I'm tired.) Travels as his hobby: Interesting places and people Is and always has been a Fallen Angel, though was born to hell instead of actually "Falling" Once had a thing with an angel named Catherine Has an obligatory enmity with Kestrel (see below), a hot-blooded rivalry with a hammer-wielding angel named Vulcan and an intense hatred of fellow demon Donovan. No pets: Can't take care of them His relationship with Catherine was discovered by the Heavenly Choir and she was executed as an example to those who would fraternise with demons. The hobby is instrumental to the profession in a way, as experience makes us stronger. Kestrel is a devoted servant of God and despite revelations that Hawke is her twin brother (both of them half angel, half demon) still fights against him on principle. Vulcan and Hawke both value courage and fortitude on the battlefield and after several stalemates have forged a grudging respect for each other. Donovan is resentful of Hawke's status, having been born to demonic royalty yet never demonstrating any genuine belief in Lucifer's cause. Hawke has been revered but alienated from his fellow demons because of his status and resents others assumption of his nature because of the circumstances of his birth. He is distrustful and solitary, only opening up to Catherine before her discovery and execution. Because of this, he attempts to emotionally detach himself from others to avoid anything like that happening again. Hawke walks the path of absolute power: Constantly looking for ways to make himself stronger. His motivation for this is so that he may cut his ties with the demon world without fear of reprisal and the retribution of the so called "Holy Orders" that oppress and subjugate in the name of "Good", but also wishes to become strong enough to protect those who are precious to him (something he will never admit). Has a friendly truce with Solomon Fisher, despite their separate allegiances because of their difference in strength. Sol isn't suicidal enough to take Hawke on and Hawke can't be bothered killing someone as laid back as Sol. Employs JD as an agent for the purposes of reconnaissance, theft and combat and regularly chastises her for her unprofessional conduct [see below]. Responds to her flirtatious remarks bluntly to disguise his feelings. Until much later in the story's development, Hawke plays the part of the villain: Regularly having a hand in the downfall of commonly conceived "good guy" characters. This results from a basically neutral system of ethics: Survival of the Fittest.
Kestrel: Female: Born in the ruins of Eden after the First Uprising Physical appearance of a human female in late twenties. Slender and pale, though her blue eyes and blonde hair are an illusion. Musician and hymn-ist Is and always has been an Angel, though was born and adopted after the First Uprising Kestrel has always been devoted to the Lord Aside from Hawke, Kestrel also despises JD for her lack of moral stringency. Other enemies include a wayward priest-turned-satanist and the self-righteous leader of the Black Talon: Haldor Sion. The hobby is part of the profession, really. Hawke was an enemy before she learned of their shared parenthood, and so stayed an enemy when he refused to defect to Heaven. As an angel, Kestrel is called to scenarios where mortals are abusing the title of justice to dispatch them. Haldor Sion poses a significant threat, as he leads an army of overzealous anti-pagans to slaughter dissidents and innocents alike, Spanish Inquisition style (or Scarlet Crusade if you want). Kestrel outright refuses to doubt the word of the Lord and the sanctity of His Word. Despite being outcast as tainted and sullied, Kestrel works tirelessly in the name of the Lord without question. The one thing Kestrel hopes for in the future is absolution. Kestrel wants to prove to the Heavenly Choir that redemption is possible regardless of one's circumstances and despite the oceans of evidence to the contrary. This is just as much spiritual as it is personal, as Kestrel will continue to doubt herself until this dream is realised. Kestrel employs Solomon as combat and moral support. She is regularly mistreated by the other members of the Choir, regardless of rank but remains under the protection of Archangel Rosario. Kestrel's morals are the absolute opposite of Hawke's, believing that everyone deserves a second chance and making every effort to save people: a trait that causes her considerable grief when she is repeatedly betrayed by opportunistic cowards and condemned for poor judgment by the Choir. Although appearing earlier than Hawke, Kestrel also spends a considerable amount of time behind the scenes protecting Solomon during the story's first installment.
JD (Jane Doe, real name unknown): female: Born in the metropolitan slums just as global society had begun to crumble in the earnest At least twenty years old (exact age unknown) but has the physical appearance of a mid-teen. Extremely lithe and athletic: Olympic Gymnast material. Collect mythical weapons and artifacts Used to roam the streets with a gang of pickpockets as a child and was forced into less reputable employment as she got older Now employed as a professional thief/spy/assassin Had a childish crush on her late mentor, now spends much of her time attempting to seduce Hawke JD has a friendly rivalry with Solomon and regards Kestrel with disdain. She harbours an intense hatred of Ros and Gil, the two gang leaders that murdered her childhood friends and attempted to enslave her. The children were killed during a genocidal cleansing of the slums when Ros and Gil's gang moved in and was saved from slavery by her mentor, the Flash Man (so named for his fondness of illusory techniques and explosives). The Flash died saving JD during their infiltration of a Black Talon facility. JD has found herself emotionally detached from men since the forced attentions paid to her during her stint as a stripper, but is attracted to Hawke because of his poorly disguised indifference and gruff considerateness. Again, the hobby is part of the job. Special enemies demand special firepower. While Ros and Gil are explained above, Solomon encounters JD on the same side of a firefight. After learning that they are employed by opposing factions, the two agree not to kill each other as long as the other is willing to fight. JD is extremely reluctant to relive her past and above all things wishes to absolve herself of it. Her immediately apparent goal throughout the story is to hunt down the people responsible for the death of her friends (Ros and Gil) and her brother's murder (the Black Talon re: unknown sacred artifact), though she also seeks forgiveness for her own sins: sins committed either to survive or to further her path for vengeance. JD was orphaned with her older brother when their mother was killed by a mysterious organisation searching for a lost heirloom. Escaping with her brother, the two sought shelter in the slums until they were discovered; JD escaping and her brother dying to protect her. JD still carries the heirloom as a memento, unaware until later developments of its significance and unaware even then that all of the stories about it are false.
Solomon Fisher: male: Born in anarchistic Africa fifteen years before the collapse of global society Just under forty years old. Pure-blooded African. Broad, bald and built. Smokes and drinks regularly, enjoys old Jazz. Solomon was adopted at a young age by a well-off family and was about nine years old when the town he lived in was attacked. Roaming bandits has rendered much of Africa unsafe and Solomon was forced to flee with the survivors to the nearest major city: now a column of buildings surrounded by a sea of slums. Solomon initially eked out a living as a pickpocket and thief until he was caught by the local law enforcers (gang thugs, police having long since disappeared) and severely beaten. Solomon was saved by the hero from a local childhood story: The Southern Cross Soldier, Haldor Sion. With Haldor, Solomon gained a soldier's education and helped clean up the African plains. During a major assault, their unit is betrayed and Haldor is supposed dead while covering the retreat. His soldiers lose heart and disband, Solomon leaving for America hoping for a better life. Solomon is currently a mercenary, tactician and specialised sniper employed by the Holy Choir through Kestrel. Solomon has a very lose relationship policy of "Love all women equally". This policy has exceptions for women that Solomon works with because it compromises their professional integrity. His only unfulfilled love was that of Wren, a woman in his unit from Sierra Leone. When Haldor re-emerges as a leader of the Black Talon and Solomon learns of the Talon's true intentions, the two reach a mutual agreement of hostility. They both regret that their paths would cross in such a way, but their convictions and respect for each other allow for no other course of action. Solomon also holds a grudge against Ros and Gil, though more on principle than for any personal vendetta. Wren and Solomon worked together in the same unit for a long time (covering at least two entire story arcs), but it was Solomon that refused to enter into a serious relationship with a colleague until at least some semblance of peace had returned to the world. Unfortunately, Wren perished long before that dream was made a reality. Alcoholism is not a paying job. Solomon has always tried to maintain a "no man left behind" policy, and the death of a single person - even to save a thousand - causes him significant pain. It is made obvious early within the story that the loss of life is harrowing to him and he is regularly forced to choose between saving one life or another. Solomon fights for the idea of lasting peace, even knowing that it is an absurd and lofty goal. He understands that it is a future that someone like him would have no place in, but still hopes to achieve it for the sake of those that would follow in the future. Solomon wears aviator shades and prefers high-quality whiskey and cigars. His weapon of choice is a modified Mechem NTW anti-armor rifle, which is as tall as he is and can tear a tank open like an envelope: The kind that you get on your birthday from senile benefactors.
