    names too different?

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by IituRSI, Jul 17, 2016.

I have these two characters, and they are brothers. At first I though they were good friends, but one scene would work much better if they were related.
Since I didn't plan them to be brothers, I think their names, Theodric and Anjing, are a bit too different. Problem is, I like both of the names and don't now which one to change.

I'm not sure if there are specific cultures you're deriving these names from, but for me Theodric sounds like older Anglo-Saxon and Anjing sounds Asian. Could you change the spelling of one of them to look more related but sound similar? Another option, if it fits in with your plot, is to have their parents be from different cultures so they chose names from both.

The idea that they're parents are from different cultures is actually pretty good. I didn't even think about that. Thanks a lot!
