    Does anyone recall

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Ferret, May 19, 2009.

When the forum was spammed daily by porn bots?
When there were, like, twenty of us?
When we still celebrated the ticker that counted members and posts?
When we all really knew each other?
When there was one flamer and we all knew her?
When we had different mods? When I was one?
When the forum used a different... engine?

I remember whan Word Games posts were counted in the ticker. Coincidentally (heh) that ended around the time certain members (ahem) were racing to boost their post counts. Of course, I had no part in that, nope, no siree...

I remember when the reviewing requirement (and the software plugin was added to help enforce it) was first introduced.

But the forum was already well under way with the new engine when I joined, about eight or nine months after the switchover.

Ahhh they were the days, eh?
I can remember the camaraderie and most definitely some person who went by the name of Ferret. Halcyon days.

Ummm, just wondering. Do we get any rewards for being long standing members here? ;)

    I remember!

And yet my post count is still under 1000...

    How have you been, Ferret?

A Halcyon is a fabled Kingfisher like bird that's said to be able to calm the seas. Halcyon days is a term used when looking back to happy and tranquil times.

Paraphrasing somewhat, "I am the architect of the golden days."

And halcyon is an adjective. Halcyon days are the good old days, the peaceful days (that never were?)

    HAHAHA! I remember the lot!

The spma bots were a major PITA and everyone kept replying to their stupid posts...

I remember when there was about 20 active members... did you join before me Ferret? Quite Possible. I remember when there had only been about 20-30 people online in 24 hours...

I do remember all the milestones that were celebrated with posts, threads and members. Was a huge deal back then.

I remember knowing quite a lot of members fairly well, now I don't know that many. But I'm hardly active and most of the old members moved on to newer pastures. I still bump into a few here and there.

Which flamer are you on about? We did have a few back then... hahaha!

You mean when we had more than 2 mods and they were all active?

Forums always change, they grow, the become something else that you either get use to, or you leave.

How many old members are left?

I know Eoz, Freshmaker and yourself are still here, and me, but who else? No one that I can remember from back in the early(ish) days anyways... ( I still remember when Raven was just a normal member and not a mod.)

I joined in 2006, my freshman year.
There aren't a lot of older members left to still hang around.
I remember when the rp was first put in.

I originially joined November 2006, so I've been here for 2 and half years now... WOW! That is a long time... we have been around for the same length of time... though I had a different account then and won't go into detail why the account was changed.

I remember when we attempted the critique groups and when everyone was begging for the RPG and when it initially started up. I also remember when we had that really sick and twisted, perverted member on the boards as well. She used to make me want to vomit with the things she was saying to people and myself... still makes my skin crawl!

Wordwizard, I could never forget you! I just forgot that you joined that early is all. Forgive me? :(
