Sorry guys, my mind is bending into a brezel. What's it with 'choose' and all its possible tenses that I can't make sense of it? In case anyone wonders, I am far from perfect with regard to grammar and english is my second language. So please can someone tell me how to say something like (and I just know that you will now laugh) - to have'd x chosen another road - to have'd x chose another road - to have x'd chosen another road - to have x choose another road .. or something else. I am too confused to make sense of this strange sentence. Please? Help? What is correct??
The low road is washed out. He would have chosen another road. (He would have to choose another road) also works. To choose another road, he would need to know the lay of the land. I am sure he chose the old road through the woods. He always chooses wisely.
Just providing contextual grounding. I wasn't sure at all what you meant with that have'd construction...
She wished for him to have chosen another road. Crap, this sentence doesn't work. *goes off to choose another sentence*
